the figures appear to go something like

    18b gross
    5b instant refund
so net contribution is 13 bn

now the EU decides certain spending on the UK irrespective of whether it is the best interest of the UK but depending upon EU priorities
    this amounts to 4b
some of this spend will be useful whilst some will be harmful and some probably neither good nor bad

for the sake of debate say 50% is of net value so 2 b

so net payment is maybe about 11 b

Yes. Also, which country in the EU would be named on such a 'passport'? Would such 'EU passports' also be issued to nationals of other European countries?

The holding of such an 'EU passport' alone would surely not entitle the holder to enter the UK. So if any such 'EU passport/travel document' were issued, entry into Britain would of course still necessitate a British passport, or permission to work in Britain for a set period, as needed. I think also that the nationality of anyone coming to work in Britain from continental European countries must be known to the authorities – this should of course apply within other European countries, though of course it is up to them to sort this out for themselves.

You would have a European British passport which would enable you to travel live and work in Europe. You would retain your British passport to enter the U.K. Well, you wouldn't, presumably. But I would. Although I suspect if / when this happens then the numbers of applications will probably show up the hypocrisy of many Brexiters

How committed is the Government to overcome shortfalls in available energy? Does any one know, does even the Government know?
There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.

the 2 year period is an EU construction and if inappropriate shows how useless the EU is : the sooner we leave this dysfunctional outfit the better.

Your reasons for hating on the EU are starting to sound more irrational.

If 2 years is inappropriate the UK and EU will agree a timetable which is appropriate.

    I don't hate the EU
I believe it is a massively non optimal organisation for the UK, the southern EU states, East European states and developing agricultural states and is doomed to fail in the long run.

The 2 year timescale was written into the EU rules clearly without much thought; sadly like many other of the EU rules.
Given it is an EU rule, they should make ever effort to meet that timescale although we both know they will corruptly delay.

You say the UK and the EU will agree a timescale: if the EU deliberately delay how do we force them to hold sensible negotiations : I'm confident that you will defend the EU however irresponsibly they behave and will attack the UK however reasonably we behave.

    Here's food for thought :

Any EU fanatics here able to tell me why the Euro or EU is not toast in the long run?

How much has the Greek economy contracted and when will it stop?

What's to stop the same thing happening to Portugal; Ireland; even Italy and Spain?

As has been pointed out when youth unemployment is high, your talented young have no other option but to go and seek employment elsewhere.

Why wouldn't the EU fracture along broadly North/South lines?

I see leaving the EU as damage limitation personally, because if it does go pear shaped it would cost us dearly. We would be expected to bail the zone out.
