And that you're focused on foreigners uber alles.

    I am stunned. Stunned.

Also, 30,000 civil servants? That's a back of envelope £1.8bn annual wage fee, assuming they are only getting £30k/year. I wonder if that figure factors in all the additional management/admin staff and facilities you'll need to manage that many people.

How much trade are we going to need to generate to just pay for the admin bill?
    Ahem.
    From that link:
The government says it "does not recognise" a leaked memo suggesting it has no overall plan for Brexit.
    And:
A government source said the document was an unsolicited pitch for work from a consultancy firm.

Ah, so now all is clear: "Project Fear" lives on.
  • And in the Indy:

Tim Farron, the Liberal Democrat leader, called for the Government to urgently answer “key questions” on the terms of Brexit, including the common market.

“This shambles at the heart of government confirms that the only reason Theresa May won't tell us her Brexit plan is because she doesn't have one,” he said.

Yeah well I think we all knew that anyway. I almost feel a bit sorry for MIniThatcher. Brexit is the ball of yarn that has no end and no beginning. The UK holds very few cards and the Tories' attempts to be all things to all political hues, from centrists to purple faced Kippers are about to explode in their faces.

No one will be happy with the Brexit outcome because what we will see is the UK being pushed around by the EU, then having to hand over (probably literally) a boat load of treasure to Brussels in order to retain some market access.

A lot of Civil Servants know nothing but life in the EU and cannot imagine life outside, and so it's to be expected some of these flat earthers will resist change and see problems instead of opportunities and new vistas
  • Oh dear, do keep up Toastie.

    As I said before, it's a story; a fabrication.

Do you really expect May to admit to any of the memo contents?

I'm not saying it's not a hoax, but I also don't expect the government to have said anything else about it.

Alternatively, a lot of civil servants may have experience in this field and know what a mess it is.

If it's not worth it, we won't do it.

Hard Brexit is an ever increasing possibility. I'm a remainer but I personally see no value in an expensive soft Brexit at all apart from a temporary measure until more global trade deals are put in place.

By the way, the U.K. holds a reasonable amount of cards actually.

Remaining in Europe though was the best move we could have played, shame the right wing reteroric from the daily hate Mail et al ruined that chance.
Proudly voted remain. A global union of countries is the only way to commit global capital to the rule of law.

Looks as though the sneering elites at the Times and BBC are trying to concoct a non story.
The BBC excitedly followed up this morning’s Times splash on an alleged Cabinet Office memo bemoaning Brexit chaos: “There is no plan for Brexit, leaked memo says”. Is it quite the bombshell memo gleeful Remainers are hoping?

Downing Street say that in fact it wasn’t a Cabinet Office memo at all, it was an unsolicited report authored by Deloitte. In which they found the government needs 30,000 extra staff, presumably Deloitte consultants. Government sources say they told the BBC their headline and story was wrong at 7am.

Thank God for order-order.com to give us the truth and nothing but the truth. :rotfl:
Don't blame me, I voted Remain.
  • Wages aren't low because of immigration, they are low because people such as yourself keep voting for Tory governments that won't introduce a living wage.

It's a self defeating exercise to increase the minimum wage.

If you were on minimum wage, and it was increased to £10 p/h, you'd think it was great. The problem is that this increase will be financed by increased prices. So your £10 p/h goes no further than your previous £7 p/h.

It will be impossible to legislate an increase in wages that actually improves the lives of people. Another example of failed central planning, a long dead horse which the left continues to flog. Shame the Conservatives pandered to the noise on this issue.

The best way to increase wages is to deliver greater value with the work you do. This usually involves training, it may involve changing jobs.

Increasing the minimum wage just increases prices for everyone, it doesn't make the working poor richer, it doesn't really affect the rich, but it squeezes those in the middle. Such policies deserve a slow round of applause, and today the Guardian thinks the left argue logically?

    https://www.theguardian.com/higher-education-network/2016/nov/15/in-the-age-of-trump-why-bother-teaching-students-to-argue-logically

The delusion on the left is flabbergasting at times.
