apparently Corbyn has decreed that only people who disagree with his policies will be used as advisors.0 -
30 mill - 1/3 = 10 mill = 20mill (minus 3,000 super rich) tax payers paying the bulk of taxes.
Corporation tax not enough being paid from multinationals.
Ok, so lets say we split the ~30m tax payers into thirds.
1st third = 10m
2nd third = 10m
3rd third = 10m
If the 3rd third pay 0.01% of income tax.
And 99.9% of income tax is split between the 1st and 2nd third, does that mean that it's split evenly? Or would the 1st third pay more and the 2nd third? (assuming of course that they are ranked in descending order, just in case that was unclear)
The article only said that the 3,000 pay more than the 9m people who pay 0.01%, so if the 3,000 pay 0.011% this is true. You can't simply minus the 3,000 and claim the remainder are 'middle earners' and therefore pay the bulk. The maths doesn't work that way.0 -

Continued peace in Europe came about through NATO primarily. It started there, the EU came along afterwards. Since both the EU and NATO will still exist after Brexit why should Brexit cause these pillars of peace on the continent to dissolve and cause conflict?
Improvement of rights? Have you checked when the rights you enjoy were enacted by the UK parliament? Probably before they came into force within the EU. In many cases UK law exceeds the EU minimums.
On the issue of dis-entanglement the UK government has so far been quite sensible. They propose enacting all the current EU legislation into UK law and tweaking and repealing one by one if it's at all required.
Tricky,
Who knows who will be the aggressor in the future, perhaps in +20 years Britain will be looking across the channel and envying the wide open spaces of Europe and will decide to invade.
Or The EU will decide on a pr-emtive strike! There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -

Why does everyone arguing the remain side come out with this claptrap?
Because one member state, the UK, leaves the EU we are opening pandoras box of European warfare? It's ridiculous.
If there is a war in the distant future on the continent of Europe it will not be because of the UK leaving a political union with 27 other member states of Europe.0 -
Fascism, the direction on which the U.K. government is embarking after our forefathers fought against it is not claptrap. Wake up, it's on the cards with the way things are panning out and it seemingly looks like anything goes given the very strange events of the last few months.
Keep your eyes open and do not allow impossible aims in a highly complex an interdependent world allow us to stoop to the level of hate and fear for the other, finding those to blame when it is government that is to blame. Right now I am ashamed to be British, totally ashamed at the disgusting sentiment half of the people who voted seem to think is acceptable from those who govern.
That LSE report is beyond disturbing.0 -

I'm ashamed of the lack of pragmatism present in the general populace. It's all hyper-ventilating hyperbole teetering on the edge of a nervous breakdown.
Facism? Really?extreme right-wing, authoritarian, or intolerant views or practices.
The current government is not extreme right-wing, authoritarian or intolerant of the views of others. That actually sounds more like Jeremy Corbyn with the exception he's on the extreme left-wing.
And the LSE report isn't disturbing, it's quite a pragmatic view on the reality of the situation here and in the EU. A deal to benefit all is in the best interests of the UK and the EU. A deal which punishes the UK because we left with the aim of making others think twice will push some towards the exit door, particularly Hungary given Luxembourg is trying to bully them over their border policy. Visegrad have been telling the bureaucrats where to go and, well the LSE article describes the situation in Germany and Italy quite well.0 -

how many UK citizens will be advising the EU commission on the brexit issues?
when it turns out to be zero will you disown the EU and declare them fascist?
will you be ashamed to tbe european?
The vile Hollande has already declared he wants to punish the UKFrançois Hollande has sent one of the strongest warnings yet that Britain will have to pay a heavy price for leaving the European Union, adding to deep concern in financial markets.
“There must be a threat, there must be a risk, there must be a price, otherwise we will be in negotiations that will not end well and, inevitably, will have economic and human consequences,” the French president said.
would a french citizen be loyal to france or the UK in such a situation.0 -
While I don't agree with a lot of ruggestoast's views, I do believe he was using satire in this case to make a point.
That's not the point.
The issue is that on the forums in the last few weeks, immigrants have been accused of taking all the jobs, taking all the benefits and commiting all the crimes. It can't be all of the three unless there are some form of supernatural powers.
Demonising immigrants is not a good thing, and instead of doing so, it may be a better idea to ask the government to introduce an EU national registration scheme, of which if I recall the UK is the only EU member which doesn't have one.
If he'd bothered to do 2 seconds of research, he'd see that there is no element of EU in my name at all.
I am faced with losing the result of a lot of hard work just as it's starting to pay off, and I'm also faced with having to make huge life changes that I don't want to have to make to avoid that happening, so whilst it may have been meant as a joke, it's not smart and it's not funny.💙💛 💔0 -

I don't think you'll be in such a bad position after negotiations.
Did you take a look at that article from the LSE by a German fellow who's quite good on law and economics? He speaks some sense in my opinion.0 -
EU migrants - no unemployment benefits for 5 years.

No not UK, Germany.
