I'm saying I want him to finish his course and no one knows what support he can receive financially to enable him to do that.. if we just had him I would still want him to finish his course and have some income.. they don't stop eating on their 20th birthday!

Why can't he work part-time ? A friends son works full-time at age 25 with downs and autism for Asda, they are very supportive towards him..

and what would I use to feed and clothe them and pay bills and everything else??

You're very lucky that you would not miss such a large percentage of your income if it were to disappear.

Borkid.. everyone who is ill is treated as a fraud and scrounger.. which is why this son refuses to claim even though he is probably eligible.

    Well, some people work.

So every single business in your area have told him this?
Does anyone in your household actually work? I see your pregnant yet again so that's you nicely out of the workplace for another few years!

Because you know everything lol.. Most actually aren't old enough to work.. but you'd know that too right?

Most businesses have.. a lot just say 'we're not recruiting' the second you mention work.

My daughter gets more at uni and the child related income is separate.. so just comparing the 2 very different treatments, it is almost like being punished for not being at uni.. when it isn't suitable for everyone.. it smarts of inequality, like they are suggesting a college qualification is in some way less valid or less worthy than a uni course.. it just seems unfair for our young people who cannot go to uni for whatever reason.
    ?

How? What does she get loans, bursary, grant? Are you including course fees? I don't know how that could work, my youngest left uni a year ago. All four of mine are graduates and I think we must have been missing a trick as mine got loans which just about covered their rent except for the youngest who did a nursing degree and got a bursary but nowhere near £10k.

She has 2 different grants/bursaries and the loan.. plus a grant to cover childcare which is paid separately.

The bursary for the nursing or midwifery degree here a 5-6 years ago was £23,000.. though that is not what my daughter is studying, I looked into it and my cousins partner did it and several of my friends started '09/10.

Which is why you implied I was lying about how much she received and also implied that she would be claiming a host of other benefits then? Funnily enough my friends who are chronically ill really are ill but then I only know 3 people who are too ill to work. Not all of them claim benefits either. Maybe I have a different circle of friends to you.

Actually a couple of years ago when my friend was in WRAG group the advisor at the DWP was very supportive and considerate and went out of his way to help. He even arranged for future interviews to be phone ones. Maybe he could see how ill she was or maybe it was because she had worked from age 15 ( Saturday job whilst at school) until she became ill . He seemed surprised that she had a work history and said a lot of claimants he sees had never worked.
