Rather pleased with yesterday's spend at Mozza's.

    3 x green peppers £0.55
    1 pack of jalapenos £0.19
    1 pack choi sum £0.15
    2pt milk £0.75 - standard
    600g of haslet £1.00
silverside of beef £3.49 (was £7.55)
    big head of broccoli £0.25
    Hovis granary wholemeal £0.65

OH is out tonight but will be greeted with roast beef when he staggers in, and there's plenty for lots of meals, including stir fry. I may have to freeze some of the cooked meat for another time for a bit of variety. I have frozen 2/3 of the haslet as there's loads. Strictly speaking, cold meats shouldn't be frozen and thawed to eat cold again as it allows bacteria to grown if the meat isn't heated to at least 65 degrees... but 1) we're hardy 2) it's a sort of sausage after all, so will go well in hot meals, like pasta sauce.

So, yep, pretty happy with that. :)

August grocery challenge budget £150, spent so far £45.95, remaining £104.05.

    Spends so far are £88.93/£250.

We have plenty left in from last weekends shop and Costc00 visit and I will only need to do a small shop this weekend. I will buy DH some RM as I am away from Monday morning until late Wednesday and he wont cook or make a packed lunch but if I buy SW RM he will eat these. I also need parmesan which isn't the cheapest thing to buy either!

I am budgeting £50 with a £10 voucher off for a delivery on the 11th and then £100 (or whatever is left) with £10 off for 23rd to include our holiday food shop.

I have received my GF prescription flour mix today so will be baking bread and trying my hand at some healthy baking for the weekend as we are trying to get back to our healthy eating habits which slipped over Christmas and have struggled to get back on to.

week2 weekly shop done and came to £51.44

I will need to top up during the week, probably a bigger top up than last week too but I'll try to keep it under £10. Next week is the expensive one as its OH birthday and want to get him some treats but hopefully I have it well planned.

    So I am at £117.29/£260

I a, trying to empty the freezers but seem to be putting things into them too, a couple of packed of bacon plus a few leftover meals :o I am also still eating up the Christmas cheese stash! The Gorgonzola I am currently eating is slightly ;) past its best before but still yummy.

    Quick question
Is a nsd when you don't spend anything or when nobody in the household does?

:rotfl: Given it's just me and the cats...

But seriously, I think it's up to you. For me a NSD is when no money is spent - not including direct debits/utilities. Some only count food spend, some only count unplanned spends.
That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

We count it as an NSD if neither of us spend on GC purchases. I don't count spends from other budgets such as petrol or DDs

You can buy it fairly cheaply in Al*i - Parmigiano, triangle-shaped, usually on a top shelf above cheeses.

Don't forget you can grate it and freeze it, just take out what you need as and when. You can use the rind in soups etc ;)

Thanks for the tip, I hadn't thought about freezing it.

£20.19 spent in the land of ice on 6 SW RM, when you buy 2 you get either fresh green beans or butternut squash so I got one beans and 2 squash as they will last for ages. I also got crumpets and pancakes for DH/DS and a bag of frozen kale. Never seen anywhere else do this. It is DH favourite but we never seem to get through a big bag and I want to pop some in a healthy minestrone this weekend.

Also spent £26.35 in Mr T on various items on the list and some hot x buns which were not :o £4 of the spend was on junk for DH to take on a days fishing tomorrow.

My freezer and cupboards are groaning and I seriously do not need to spend any more money on food until next weekend when my delivery comes and that will be holiday food to put away and some fruit and not much else I hope.

    Total now £133.47:eek:

I think I include everything because of my borderline eBay addiction. I could easily spend a months grocery money on impulse bids if I let myself :o
