March will be a 5 week month for us so £250 for March please. There is myself, DH and most days I cook for my mum who lives a few miles away. No pets but the amount includes all food, toiletries and cleaning items.
Good luck everyone lets try to keep those purses firmly shut.
    Two NSD so far.

    Hi everyone,

    Budgets updated to here :)

    Welcome/welcome back to:
Frugal Artist, chirpychick, and WorriedFTB :D

    Good luck all.

Looks like DH will be made redundant on 23rd March. He had a meeting with HR today and has been given his terms (only been there 2 years, so it's minimal). I had always maintained that I'm happy to downshift on most items, but instant coffee and washing up liquid were a non starter. Happy to report that Aldi coffee is not too bad(!) and their magnum anti-bac seems to clean just as well as fairy :D

First shop of the month last Saturday was Aldi £98. Have had NSDs since - helped by being on the road yesterday all day with work. Will need veg tomorrow to take us through to the weekend.

    Have a good evening all

:( Not good news. I know you had been expecting it, but even so, it's added stress you could do without. Does your DH have a specialist job that might make getting work a bit more tricky?

I've been sneaking in a few Savers-type swaps for a while now and no-one seems to notice, so I'll be expanding on this to try to reduce our grocery bill further. I am going to check salt levels though as we watched something on TV yesterday that flagged up some products' sodium content has actually increased recently. It was suggested that this might make "lesser" non-branded (and cheaper) foods more palatable. I wonder if that's true?

Hope hubby finds work soon x

Have downloaded a spending tracker as well so it's easy to record things. Its actually making me quite obsessed, but in a good way!

I love my phone spending tracker! After a couple of months I put it all in a spreadsheet to see if I was spending where I thought - found loads more on kids activities but at least I know where it's going...

£2.50 on some mince from Sainsb (not bad for 500g I thought). But Sainsb basics passata is very runny compared to A1dis or L1dls.

Kids didn't like the turkey meatballs, unfortunately. So can't add that one to the list :( Trying to get more whole family meals in the rota so I am not cooking twice nightly!!
    GC Feb 2019 (to 10th) £397.07/£300
