TBH.. I'd have binned them without a word.. a living creature is hardly the same as a pile of rotting paper.
Do you want to go to relate? Do you think they will help?? in my experience they don't counsel, they mediate.. if you don't want to go say no.. and don't ever forget that sometimes we have to admit we tried and our best was not good enough.. and he appears to be the one with MH issues, you are being perfectly rational and reasonable he is not, not at all.
I think Relate would help - I'm hoping that they will see in a heartbeat what is going on but you can't guarantee it can you. My concern is if he goes and they recommend help for him with hoarding he won't listen properly as he just can't see he has a problem. Or maybe he doesn't want to. He's at risk of losing me and the kids as I can't tolerate it any more.Flymarkeeteer: £168 and counting0 -
Just wanted to thank you all for your hugs and support. Nothing more has been mentioned and we've actually been out all day with his sister and mum - I told his sister what's going on and she's told me she spoke to him about it a while back and said that his hoarding is out of control. She's very sweet. His mum also said he's always been a hoarder and doesn't believe he will change. Time will tell.
Need to get the iron out and get J's work shirts done ready for when he heads back to Basingstoke tonight. Also need to do some school shirts etc for the kids so best get on with them - luckily I find ironing relaxing as got a fair bit to do.
CY sending you big but gentle hugs; it could be just to do with the getting back to work routine and that's tiring you out? Thinking of you honey xxFlymarkeeteer: £168 and counting0 -
Evening all,
Sounds like a lot of mould dancemum xx
Just got the kids to bed and made a brew. Dad was here this afternoon and I asked him to take a blown bulb out for me - a fiddly little one that I felt was going to break in my hands (it did - well, his hand, although I warned him and he was using a teatowel just in case - phew!). So he took the whole thing off the wall, managed to get the remaining bits out with pliers, snapped the fixing and glued it back together. And then put it back on the wall. Aww. Bet he wished he never bothered coming
Took DS out on his buggy/kart thingy and by 'eck (as we say in yorkshire) it was chilly! I've put DD to bed tonight in a long sleeve vest, pjs and a fleece onesie over the top! Even my mum said the ls thermal vest and pjs didn't keep DD warm enough last night.
Shopping arrived and was put away. Meatballs decided upon for tomorrow night. We also did a quick tidy round before bedtime, so toys are away (aka dumped in conservatory), bags are out, books tidied and kitchen wiped
Tonight I'm going to empty the DW, make my lunch for tomorrow and get our clothes out for morning. Hats and gloves are ready - forecast a cold one here!
Ooo, on Friday, I even wrote the whole list for next week! So I'll set up the new thread now while my tea is cooling enough to drink!ETA new thread!!!Bossymoo

It is a lot of mould. It started when the houses on both sides were empty. It is also on my bedroom ceiling, boys ceiling and in the bathroom. The window seals and conservatory are affected too. It has got worse after we had caverty wall insulation and the loft insulated. I struggle to keep it to a minimum
Sorry you are having troubles mumto2 x I have hoarders in my family x
CY hope you feel better soon. X0 -
ETA: How's Valli-Cat doing?
She's doing well; she loves the cat milk. She doesn't eat as much as she did but seems to be in no pain. My friend seemed to think we ought to run tests and look for treatment but I am disinclined to put a cat one month shy of 18 through that, when she is enjoying life.
Mumof2 (((hugs))). The first Mr Valli was a hoarder; his mum and brother and father were too (not that I knew what hoarding was, back then). I feel well shot of them.
I have been dipping into the Kondo thread and, as a result have thrown some very old books (into the recycling - priced 2/6!) Having 'lost' a large bookcase I need to rejig and some Justin Case stuff is going, too. However I can't claim to be following the principles of kondo as I am looking to throw rather than looking to keep.
