Fuddle could you use a baby muslin cut into smaller pieces & hemmed and then damped? Let me know if you think it would work, I've got a spare 3-pack in my drawer.

    reusable cotton rounds.

you can buy them on ebay / etsy, but they are quite dear. I have bought a brushed cotton cot sheet (50p from the chazzer) and am going to dedicate an afternoon to making some, probably a triple layer of the sheet, and draw round a glass to make a pattern. I will wash them in a netted laundry bag.

Just got to find that afternoon.

Still minimising the food stores / making do - the freezers are easing volume wise, but there is still a lot in there.

Regrettably had to do a shop yesterday afternoon as we'd no fresh stuff at all (almost literally). but it was fairly cheap as the main meal components are coming out of the freezers.
I wanna be in the room where it happens

HOWMUCH well done on your haul, nursemaggie I have a pair of bootee type slippers that one of my DGC bought me when I was having treatment and its true I think ones 'trotters' need to be kept warm, nothing worse than cold feet I think:) Hope your getting on OK with your treatment
Tonight I am making do with something from the freezer for dinner as I am not going food shopping until Wednesday
No mending to be done but my friend gave me some odd balls of wool which will do nicely for my charity blankets
I have been out since this morning so I guess I have minimised having the heating on and will only stick it on for an hour tonight just to take the chill off a bit as I have my thick wooly jumper to wear to keep the drafts out :):):)

I would not describe my slippers as bootees they are mid calf. The seem to be working except in the kitchen and bathroom which are both unheated and hard floors on concrete.

Nurse Maggie I remember my nan had a plastic mat on her concrete pantry floor which had little feet, she reckoned that it was warmer to stand on than the concrete. I wonder if they are still available anywhere? Also, I remember putting layers of newspaper under the cushion floor to insulate my first kitchen's floor.

  • Have minimised a large quantity of the kids' old toys via ebay this last week or so and we've just boxed up the last of it tonight to be sent tomorrow. This has given us quite a bit of money that will pay off the rest of our holiday (we're going Whit week as much cheaper than summer hols, and it's a cheapy one anyway), so that feels really good.

Making do with boring spag and cheese for tea as am still poorly with a cold/virus thing and so can be bothered to neither shop nor cook!

Have also had a bit of a combined minimise/make do recently, having paid our removal men 18 mths ago to move to our new house boxes of all my tiny travel size/free sample/hotel freebie shampoos/conditioners/shower gels/body lotions etc, and having nowhere really to store them in the new house, I finally realised that what I needed to do was in fact to USE THEM UP!! So I have, and not been too fussy either re the contents, so shower gel has doubled as shampoo, body lotion as shaving cream etc. Am well pleased to have got rid of loads of it. Just have lots of hard soap left now, which we don't use as a rule, but save it for our self-catering holidays to save buying big bottle of handwash especially.

Still no mending (annoying, since I joined this thread to motivate me to get on with it!!) but am putting that down to being ill. I think I need to set myself small goals, like will do other half of coat zip this weekend, then perhaps a pair of school shorts per night till they're all done..... I tend to save it up and try and do it all in one go and then lose the will to live...
  • I've made a batch of jam with fruit from the freezer.
I'm still working my way through minimising my yarn stash, I've made another baby jacket and made some more squares for a blanket.
    Chin up, Titus out.

Wildthing - I find big jobs much better broken down into small bites (elephant analogy!) Its surprising how much you can achieve and gives such a feeling of satisfaction when it's completed! Sometimes I allocate say 15 minutes a day or as you've said - a certain amount at a time. As the Ad says - every little helps!
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle
