Make do, Mend and Minimise in 2016

Went to put my jammie bottoms away from the washload done on Friday and discovered that the hem was coming down. Closer inspection revealed that they'd had their hems put up with something like wundaweb and that the turnover had a raw edge.
Bygorry, if I'd bought them new from s3cret po$$3$$ions instead of for 50p from a chazzer, I might have been cross about that. Ripped all the hems down, handturned them double so raw edges contained and then hand-sewed them. That's today's mend.
Minimised a whatcamacallit which no freecycler wants, dismantled it into cloth (laundered for recycling) and non-recyling (bin). Have also been improving my allotment soil with 11 barrowloads of spent barley grains - I certainly minimized the communal pile of these - and an IKEYA bag of turrible weeds to the tip.
Will be making do with an omelette and veg for supper as can't be bothered to do capital-C cooking on a Sunday.
Onwards!Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Happy Birthday Jackie x
Not much MMMING done today although I did use up 2 duck breasts for dinner that had been lurking in the freezer from last year that I bought in France!! Managed to get some washing dry but the rest has been draped over the bannister as we've got high winds and more forecast for tomorrow
My Fleabay stuff finishes tonight so I'm hoping some will be sold and I can get it out of the house.Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Evening everyone
HOW MUCH fab YS bargains, amazing!
Went to the supermarket after work to get the weekly supplies but no YS bargains to be seen. I'm trying for a budget of £100 for groceries this month so was hoping for plenty of YS items to help stretch my budget further but no such luck
I've caught up with the washing and ironing this evening and also sewed a couple of buttons back onto one of OH's shirts. I've got a couple of other things that need to be mended but will get to them later on in the week. At some point this week I also need to make birthday cards for OH and my SIL.
Right hot water bottles are done, just need to get organised for tomorrow then off for an early night. Hope everyone has had a good weekend.Mortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500 1.9.25 - £106,033.77

Minimised some craft supplies decorating a surplus craft storage box at I regifted to stepdgd for her birthday to store her fossil collection in. Then minimised some more wool knitting another beard for the school play.
Dd2 took a Cartier bag of stuf away with her to take to a CS in her area. I took a binbag and a boxful to ours on Saturday but forgot that.
Have a great week everyone.SPC~12 ot 124

Some fantastic YS bargains being found, I never seem to find any as cheap as those mentioned. I think I need to find out when the best times to got shopping are.
Made do: fed up of being indoors OH, DD1 and I went for a walk around out local wildlife trust centre; there'd been sightings of otters and a bittern - but we were out of luck. It was nice to see families out and about together, sometimes several generations all together, which I think is always good to see. DD bought the coffee and scones, so a no spend afternoon out for me and OH.
Minimised: When auditing my cupboards, I found some leftover fajita mix and salsa, so with some sour cream and tortillas I had left, we had chicken fajitas and hasselback potatoes. Everyone loved it. I have another fajita mix left so will be doing again next week. There's some left over salsa - anybody know whether i can freeze it?
Mend: I'm still waiting for OH to try on his walking trousers so that I can sew them up on the machine:mad:Books - the original virtual reality.

Good Morning chums
At last I have a kitchen with floor, skirting boards, connected sink and cooker. So last night I emptied the contents of 7 banana boxes all over the place!
There is a charity box,2 boxes to go in the loft and everything else needs to find a home in the kitchen.I also sent my daughter home with loadsa stuff and her boyfriend with some egg cups.2 more boxes to go through and then I am finally unpacked from last years move.I do seem to have more glasses than a pub and we rarely drink. What gets me is that i decluttered before the move so thought I had only brought essentials.I don't think I am brave enough to Kondo.I like all my stuff.
I intend to do a bit of decorating a day, just chip away at it until its done.
At last we can return to normal life.
Many happy Returns Jackie.
You bought a house Lyn ? How did you get on?

Minimised my jewellery( sounds posher than it is
and took a lot of beads and bracelets to the CS. Lots that I just never wear now and lots that came from charity shops in the first place. Also sorted out lotions, hand creams and toiletries I've been given and donated all of the in date ones to a woman's refuge collector who lives on our avenue.
Mended two dressing gowns and used some old school name tapes ( really, really old tapes, my children are in their forties now:rotfl:) to make hanging loops for them. OH ripped both collar seams pulling them off the hook on the bathroom door, but they have years of wear still in them now. So he can make do for a long time before a new one will be needed :-)0
