Make do - I'm still using up stuff from the cupboards. I'm only adding fresh produce, tinned items I'm out of (I like to keep 2 can of baked beans/chopped tomatoes/new potatoes in so just cycling through them), and store cupboard items like mustard or soy sauce.

Mend - I tried to mend my sunglasses but they were beyond repair so I had to minimise them into the bin :( I've had them since 2011 and it may be the longest I've ever had 1 pair. Now I need to find new ones from somewhere which won't be easy as a lot look stupid on my face :(

I'm also trying to minimise spending by not going to the shops. Tomorrow I have no choice though as we need groceries and I need to go to the bank. While I'm out I'll look for some new sunglasses though. ;)

Welcome Cappella, the more the merrier :D

Sorry I've not posted for a few days - work has taken over :( but days off today and tomorrow so can relax a bit. Today I've been treating myself, I got a haircut, my eyebrows done and bought new makeup - spent rather a lot but all paid for out of vouchers and money that I got for Christmas :D

Been minimising food supplies - OH is having YS sausage rolls for tea and I'm having nachos to use up some dips left over from having fajitas the other night. Tomorrow night will be a casserole using up various veg in the fridge and the leftovers of a YS pork joint that has been in the freezer for a while.

Took a bag to the CS shop while I was out so that has minimised a few bits. Resisted the urge to have a rummage around while I was there. No point in minimising if I just buy more stuff :rotfl:

Nothing exciting planned for tonight - just minimising the ironing pile while watching a film. Hope everyone has had a good day!

Oh have put a link to the pineapple cake in the first post in this thread so that it can be easily found if anyone else wants to make it. I'm going to have a go and see if it works with GF flour.

  • Have not done any mending or minimising today, but have made do in quite good fashion, with free food and drink all day at work conference in posh hotel (so no need to eat any of my own food for breakfast/tea). Also cats had to make do with tin of tuna as we had run out of cat food. So in fact making do has meant the cats and I have had better quality food than we would do normally!!

Made do with left overs for food tonight and it worked so well I'm going to carry on and make it a weekly thing.
No mending or minimising really this week as I've had a horrible bug but the meal plan is sorted for next week and shopping list written just have to go out and buy the stuff now.

Grey day here today & gales forecast for tomorrow so I'll not be going out. I've got some leftover chicken that I'll make into chicken and mushroom pies. I'll also rustle up something with my hoard of apples in the freezer & make a couple of cakes for DH to have with his 3pm cuppa in the week.
I've got some things on Fleabay that finish on Sunday. One has already got a bid so I'll pack that up today ready to go on Monday - fingers crossed on the others!
I've also got to minimise a chunk of our bank account to pay for our holiday in April!
No mending but at least making do and minimising!
Have a good day all x

    Hi everyone! Welcome cappella:D

I'm babysitting GD 2, my usual Friday morning ritual, so I'm able to access WiFi for a while.
minimising my chicken freebie and turning it into a scrumptious casserole.
making do with left over candle wax to melt and make into fresh candles.
Not sure what I will be mending, but I'm sure there's plenty to do!

Mend: last night finally I stitched the two moth holes in my jumper.

Make: 20 rows of DH's jumper, getting shorter now as already at armhole decreases, then only sleeves and neckband to do!

    No minimising.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).
