Made do with making a large pot of soup for our Wednesday lunch at the local church using up all the odds and ends of root veg, blending and jazzing up with turmeric and dried sage, they loved it.

Still had beetroots to use up so I pressure cooked, sliced and put them in a jar, topped with hot spicy vinegar (wine vinegar, fennel seeds, peppercorns and sliced garlic), now resting and maturing in my cupboard.

No minimising or mending, I have a jumper with moth holes to fix but not got around to doing it yet.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

I'm about to use up all the odds and ends of cereal by putting them with oats, butter and honey into a flapjack. Some eaten tonight with custard and some in lunches tomorrow.

Then I can really asses what needs replacing in the shopping tomorrow.
  • Hi everyone, I had a brilliant day yesterday because it was dry, sunny and windy. I got two loads of washing out and dried - I kept going to the kitchen window ( a smile on my face) watching the washing blowing in the wind. As if that wasn't enough, I washed the car in the afternoon, a job I've not done since November. My car is now lovely and shining again.

I didn't get the trousers hemmed on Tuesday as oldest son came unexpectedly and we went to the country park for a walk with his two small dogs. We drove to the park so I didn't walk up THE HILL but got plenty exercise keeping up with my son !!!

MINIMISING - I cooked some potatoes that we're starting to shoot, mashed them and they are frozen into individual scoops that will last me for several weeks.

MENDING - I did get the trousers hemmed and they are fine now. I also altered a waistcoat that I bought in a sale last year and was too baggy under the arms.

MAKING DO - Really fed up with the crackers and cheese that I have been having for lunch for ages. So today I am having some left over bolognese sauce on pitta bread. Can't wait :) - just going to make it in a few minutes.

This afternoon I'm going to my craft group and may finish the lacey scarf and will start fingerless gloves this evening.

    Have a nice day xx

Minimized in my bedroom by filling an ikea bag full of clothes and another one full of shoes and gave to friends who run a cs this morning.
I have a jumper and a cardigan to mend, but they'll have to wait for now. Trying to finish a frilly scarf for the shoeboxes first.
Making do with food from the freezers.

Hello everyone I had a very lazy day yesterday as it was DD day off so no DGS to look after. I did some reading and knitting mended a duvet cover that needed a panel of gingham that was starting to come undone. I've had to go and take DGS to nursery so my services aren't required again today and tomorrow. But I'm dog sitting until Monday so that will get me out and about walking. This morning I've bake 2 apple and blackberry pies and a large lemon curd tart, these will be shared between DD and DS and last but not least us.
Now I've got the freezers all sorted I'm moving things and organising them I've got 11 drawers full of food.

Hello :) I'm a long term lurker but would really like to join in please?
I recently retired and am desperately trying to declutter, but still make the most of what I have.
I've started my minimising my wool stash and craft stash today, taken 4 carrier bags of wool, beads, braids and fabric and card making to a local craft group who make and sell crafts to support our local hospice.
And I've put new elastic into the waists of two pairs of denim leggings. They were at the bottom of a pile of clothes to be binned but I've slowly gone through them and mended most of them so will be wearing them for a good while yet :)

Hello Cappella I took early retirement at the end of September, so welcome we've got a few new MMMer's coming out of the land of lurkers. A lot of it is do I want it? Yes but do I need it? NO because I can make do with what I've got. This trail of thought has saved me pounds over the last couple of years.
