Evening or should I say early morning all!
Am posting now as this is the first time I have managed to get on here since I got back on Monday! I am having the weirdest sleep patterns at the moment - I eat my evening meal and promptly fall asleep! then wake up about 10 - 11pm and am wide awake!! Hence posting at this time.
Sorry Jackie O I missed your birthday and hopefully you had a good time and were spoilt by your family
It was pouring down in Cornwall and even so have found a house I liked and put an offer in - and it was accepted even although it was a bit low in my view!! It is considerably smaller than mine so will defo have to do much more minimising!
It took 12 hours to get home on Monday as the train before mine had a tree come down on it - poor train driver - the train was so damaged that it could not be moved so that we were bussed to Exeter! I decided not to get on the immediate train with everyone else as it would be a heck of crush so pottered off and found a coffee shop (yes, my big treat!) and a loo and caught the train an hour later! Much quieter and easily got a a seat etc. Also meant that someone who had a connection to get or someone waiting for them had my potential seat on the other train! (If you see what i mean)
Minimising - made a tomato and butter bean casserole type thing to minimise 2 tinsThen had another look at wardrobe and put 2 shirts into CS as I hadnt worn them last summer also had a go at my undies/pyjamas drawer - threw 2 nighties some matched pretty bra and pants sets (hardly worn - I would not buy these from CS but folk do - these done fit me any more) and then found that I had 4 - yes 4  swimming costumes (2 of which dont fit me and 3rd was bright pink - when was I thinking!! beached pig rather than beached whale???????) all into CS bag
Making do - still eating pineapple cake - so that you all know it keeps well!! In fact I think it might be getting yummier
Mend - finally took up my bargain £1.99 per una purple jeans and mended more socks - same place as the others!!!
Beginning to feel a little sleepy now so will try to go to bed and get some sleep!
Hope all well with you folks! :AAim for Sept 17: 20/30 days to be NSDs  NSDs July 23/31 (aim 22) :j

Morning all.
Congratulations Lynplatinum on finding a new house and in Cornwall too - a beautiful place.
I didn't get much done yesterday as a migraine took over. But I managed to minimise a bit of mince and some sorry looking mushrooms to make spag bol. Everyone was home for tea last night which is unusual: DD1 works shifts as a hotel receptionist and DD2 often has late lectures at uni or is with her boyfriend or working as a waitress.
I'm feeling much perkier today so looking to minimise the wool stash a bit.Books - the original virtual reality.

Lyn congratulations on finding a new house
Continuing to try to minimise the freezer stocks, tea last night was baked tatties, OH had his with bolognaise and I had mine with prawns. There seems to be quite a few little bits of things so will try to use those up over the next week. I'm at work later so will get my tea there and OH will have a steak pasty from the freezer.
Got my mending done last night. I would love to live in a bigger flat where I could keep the sewing machine set up at a table all the time instead of having to take it out and clear a space as it definitely puts me off mending things. I've half cleared the paperwork so will get the rest done over the weekend. I also need to make birthday cards for OH and my SIL as I still haven't done that.Mortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500 1.9.25 - £106,033.77

Making do & minimising food stuff today. Its the last day of term so we're having home made pizza for tea (I'll make it half and half with bread flour, use up a tube of tomato pur!e and I've got some mozzarella out of the freezer) and watching a film so we'll use up some of popcorn as well. Normally we'd get take-away
There will be no mending here as I'm working today. I have a lot of admin needed before Monday to get done before DD gets home from school about 4.45. Normally of a weekend she goes out with her dad or goes to stay at his, but he's away this weekend so the plan is movies all weekend unless we go out somewhere as I'm working at the start of next week, then dentist Wednesday morning and I'll need to run errands that afternoon so we need to have some fun/down time.Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -
Hi folks! :j
I'm babysitting my GD2 this morning....Friday's are my day for it!:)
When I get back home, I will be making do with the free chicken and salad I've been given for lunch, and the piles of food I have In for tea as well!:)
minimising my garden, by cutting back and generally removing all the dead wood and tidying up.
And mending some tea shirts for a friend, that I've had for ages but not got around to. It's the last of my mending so I will have to see if anyonee wants any mending or sewing done!

Hi everyone !
I can't believe it but I've actually nearly finished the cheese mountain from Xmas, just a small piece of Brie left that I will use for toasted sandwiches with cranberry sauce ( another leftover from Xmas - nearly 2 jars left). The cranberry sauce will keep for ages so no hurry to use this.
MINIMISING - I have just sold an old ikea table on Gumtree, didn't get much for it but better than having it cluttering the place and I will put the money in Xmas tin.
I had an Aran cardigan I knitted a couple of years ago that I never wore as the collar was too large and the length was a bit shorter than I like. Yesterday I ripped it all back, it took about 4 hours as opening the seams took ages. I will keep the wool till I feel like knitting with it. I have a queue of projects waiting to be done.
MENDING - I repaired the hem on trousers that had come loose. Also I shortened jacket sleeves. I bought the jacket last summer. I am quite tall but always have to shorten sleeves on most things I buy.
MAKING DO - I had no bread left for toast this morning so had a scone instead. It was a recipe I had just tried and although the texture was good and it tasted lovely it had not risen very much. My scones are always flat - if anyone can tell me what I'm doing wrong, I would really appreciate it.
I am just away to finish a baby jacket I am knitting. It just needs sewing up ( my pet hate) and a collar knitted on. Hopefully I shall get it completed today. I'm going to Mum's later for dinner.
Have a nice day xxDebt free - Mortgage free - Work free ( in that order)

Good afternoon MMMer's
Mending DGS welly socks
Minimised a 5.5lb chicken from the freezer, with will do us about 6 meals
Make do I've almost finished the sleeves on the baby bunting bag. I got a 0 to 9month car seat for the expected little one. It's in beautiful condition and all washing and ready I always put a little vanish in. Bargain at £5 from a friends GD for a maxi cosi.
The weather yesterday was lovely and sunny just with a gentle breeze so the washing was put outside again, that's 2 weeks I've managed to get everything dried outdoors. It's all ironed and put away.
Lyn glad you managed to do what was needed in Cornwall.
Hope you all have a nice day xWhy pay full price when you may get it YS0 -
I used to have the carpet squares, but now I have wooden floors, the dogs would run in and use them as surf boards.I got a gorg red shaggy rug for in front of the fire, which Mr Pooch kept peeing on cos he thought it was grass  Think it was the texture that confused him, but it doesn't take much :rotfl::rotfl:"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

Inspired by this post I have not quite a mending , making do and minimising but nevertheless
Mended sons trousers he had ripped all the inside of the pocket so I used bias binding and repaired them inside he is very happy they are his favourite work trouser
Made a hat for a prem baby and some bonding squares at a group I go to.
Minimised some chocolate:eek: which I should not have had as it does not help me minimise my waistline.
Love the inspiration on here you all seem to get loads done.0 -
Well done LynPlatinum on finding the right place in Cornwall. I hope you will have many happy years there.
Your trip home sounds like it could have been annoying, to say the least, so good for you on having the sense to wait for the second train, and enjoying the day out. Hope no-one was hurt on the other train, though.
Today, I've minimised a pint of blood at the Blood donor session, and mended DH's trouser belt loop which had come astray, and a cardi and jumper of mine which had holes in the shoulder seam and sleeve.
The paperwork from last year was minimised the other day, and the bits I want to keep are sitting in a labelled box waiting to go to the garage.
I've just filled in the online form for transferring my Married Couple's Allowance to DH. Very easy to do, and hopefully will mean he won't pay as much tax from now on.
