Make do, Mend and Minimise in 2016

Hi everyone,
Can't help with zip dilemma - I'm as good at sewing as I am at DIY:o
Minimise - got a load of washing done and line dried so the laundry basket is empty which is a rare sight indeed. I also took some cardboard boxes to the recycling and cleared out my handbag:eek:
Make do - spicy bean soup from the freezer for lunch and leftover chickpea and spinach curry for dinner.
Mend- emergency repairs to the saggy washing line I thought I'd fixed:(
PP xOriginal mortgage £112,000 . Final payment due August 2027.
Mortgage neutral achieved August 2020 - 7 years early!!!0 -
All the talk of lemon curd has made me crave some!
Minimise - cleared dd2's room out today, got a bundle of disney dolls to ebay, and some out grown winter clothes which I have passed to the lady down the road for her little one (should fit her 2017 winter!)
Make do - rhubarb crumble for pudding (using rhubarb from garden, and cupboard stock) rather than the lemon curd tarts I fancied, which would have meant a shopping trip.
Mend - sewn 2 buttons on dd1's school shirts, and took hem down on dd2's summer school dresses to get us through till next term! It's not about getting what you want, It's about wanting what you get.0 -
Morning all. The minimizing continues as I sort through the rooms and add to CS pile. I am also minimizing an unwanted gift to the school fete.
I have some mending to do, only little jobs though thankfully.🎄PAYDBXMAS21 #11 £11,300/£11300

Minimised - a skirt that was beyond repairing. I had a few times but couldn't any more.
Also minimised driving by combining coming home from work, shopping and collecting DS2 from the station.
Make do - only had to buy creme fraiche for DS2 to make tea. Took salad to work which needed eating.
Mend - not done any mending recently.0 -
Minimised: more kondoing, clothes and bits and pieces.
Mending: none planned!
Making do: burgers from the freezer, salad from the garden and ys rolls later this evening. Lunch will be salad and a few shells of pasta I want to use up.
Have a lovely day everyone, it's Friday!!!0 -
Managed to minimise some towels to RSPCA and having sold two items on e bay those items have also left the house. Managed to reduce my stash of brown paper too.
Made do with limited salad in fridge and made a rice salad and bean salad as well as a green salad.0 -
Morning everyone, I love reading how everyone is getting on even if I don't have time to post during the week.
I am experimenting by using flexi time and annual leave to work the number of hours I want to work, and to see the impact it has on life. This week it meant I got food shopping done, had a cuppa with my mum and walked her dog, and I went out with OH to meet a new customer of his. I even managed to make HM burger and chips (found very reduced mince this afternoon-bought 6 packs!!) rather than stop for a pub supper as suggested. I think that's a making do.
Today the village has a litter pick, so I am joining in with that, but I found that the afternoon off yesterday means that I have enjoyed a cuppa and reading my book in bed, rather than rushing round doing the shopping. Mending the village - does that count?
Minimising - I love growing plants but I can't always find people to give them to so they stay in the greenhouse for far too long, and I end up playing Tetris when I need to plant more things. So I was thrilled when someone asked me about good plants for their allotment that they had just taken on and I was able to offer cuttings and small plants to help them out. My challenge is that they work in London so I will need to take the plants on the train bit by bit when I go up. I have already taken them 3 raspberry canes and I thought I might try filling one of my cake carrier boxes with pots to transport more than one bit at a time. That minimises my plant and seed hoard a bit.
Have a lovely day
S x£400,000 starting Jan 2020 current end date Aug 2041 I would love the end date to be 2027 but will aim first for 2037.

Morning everyone
I aim to join in this challenge more than I have done recently, as I often lurk, reading about all the news, then fail to post. All the talk about lemon curd is making me crave a meringue pie, which would not be good for my diet!
Yesterday I minimised a whole drawer full of old pairs of brightly coloured tights that I no longer wear but have been keeping 'just in case'. Why? I literally never wear tights now. My attire is either jeans and boots or long dresses and sandals, depending on the weather, so....fling!
Made do with some YS naan breads with a home-made chicken curry last night. There was a pack of peshwari naan with Apple and raisins selling for 38p, reduced from £2.00. Very nice indeed!
Mended relations with our postman after my youngest boy dog nipped him on the bum  Apologies were accepted and I've told him not to come into the driveway without ringing the bell on the gate, so I know he's there.0 -

Hi everyone. Didn't get chance to post yesterday as I had one of those afternoons and evenings when things kept cropping up. One of them was a cup of tea and a chat with my sister though:)
Minimise - some kitchen stocks as I baked with what I had and managed to cobble together the ingredients for Victoria sponge, lemon drizzle, flapjack and choc shortbread cookies.
Make do - soup from the freezer and some of my bargain YS artisan bread for lunch and HM pizza using some bits of cooking bacon and dough balls from the freezer for tea.
Mend - nothing as such but I've found an odd job man and he came and looked my list of things and he's coming next week to do them. Does that count?;)Original mortgage £112,000 . Final payment due August 2027.
Mortgage neutral achieved August 2020 - 7 years early!!!0
