    Hi everyone.
    Another glorious sunny day here:)

Minimise - washing pile, everything is done dried and folded in no time due to this lovely sunny weather. Also minimised some weeds and cut back a few things that were getting out of hand.

Make do - made kidney bean, carrot and cumin burgers using Jack Monroe's recipe. They were really nice and made loads. We had them in YS rolls from the freezer with some salad.

Mend - I like the idea that doing nice things is 'mending my soul' - thanks for the idea dND:)

    Evening MMMers :)

Have mended a few items tonight - 2 tops and a button sewed back onto my jacket. Minimised the ironing pile, all washing from our weekend away has been done and put away.

Tea tonight was a lovely salad and made enough to take to work for lunch tomorrow. Will use up the rest of the salad bits later in the week with some YS steaks that are in the freezer.

Also love the idea of 'mending the soul' :D
    Mortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500  1.8.25 - £106,362.86

  • Hi, you lovely bunch,
I will be a bit scatty until summer hols here. Pinkypig, i have thought about exam marking, but the fibro would rather i just stuck to the day job or sleeping.
Popping into next door to check on the cats while they are away - one shrew minimised.
Got the IoW Festival this weekend, so minimising my hearing.
We plan our time so we only have an evening snack there - a jacket potato usually so we dont over spend. Neither ma nor i drink so take our own water. So hopefully not too much minimising of money.
Mended the neck pillow I take to make my chair more comfy (hard core fesivaller me :))
Being islanders, while expensive, it is cheaper to do this one when there are a min of 4 good bands, than head off island to see someone. Also, i sleep in my own bed.
This weekend will make do with not much sleep.

Streaching mmm principles i think, but hey ho.
Mad teaching cat woman trying to be more frugal and fun :)

Sounds like you'll have a fab time at the festival pinkflamingo.
I used some salad from the garden for tea last night and planted more radish as they have all gone.
Taking some of my unused toiletry stash into school on Friday for the summer fayre so that will minimise some of that.
Got some mending to do toninght a few of DHs pairs of shorts and trousers need work.

    Have a lovely day all.

    Morning all.
Looks like the sun has gone here for the mo, it thundered the other night but no rain, so I will be out minimising the water butts this morning to water my little veg patch. I sowed some more seeds yesterday (radishes, spring onions, little gem lettuce) and planted out the salad turnips and a couple of cabbages.
I grappled the conservatory roof blinds, but only managed one! My arms were killing me - OH held the hoover, whilst I, up a ladder, tried to get the hose behind the blind. At the rate of one a day I reckon it will take 10 days. But it has made a difference you can tell which one has been cleaned. Conservatory is now thoroughly de-cluttered and looking spruce. Downside however, I now think the window sills look like they need re-painting. Does anyone do this, start one job only to find another?
Make do: salmon in creamy tomato sauce and pasta for tea using up some left over cream and an opened carton of tomato passata. I also used up the focaccia bread we had leftover from a picnic we had whilst attending an outdoor musical event near here.
Mending: me, in the bath with a glass of wine listening to a Melvyn Bragg podcast.
    Have a good day everyone.

Been a bit of a "grrr" day today, just feeling really down about our current situation.

I have been offered (kind of) a permanent job at the after school club from September. There will definately be no supply T.A hours for me, so even though the 3-6pm isnt ideal (it means dd2 will be at school 8.30-6 mon-thurs, and dd1 has to make her own way home & sort herself out, and when dh does work from home on nights, I will probably not get more than an hour with him) I feel I have no choice but to take it. It's a lot less pay, but permanent, and at least I'm still home weekends, holidays etc, and dd2 can be with me so no need for childcare - providing it materialises, as it is still in the planning process and has yet to be given the final go ahead from the governors. It's a restless wait for me over the next week or two!

Anyway, have minimised a fair bit today, mainly in my decision to through away my ecigs once I finish this last bottle of juice. I quit smoking through them 3 years ago, I'm down to zero nicotine, so there really should be no reason for me to continue needing them. That's going to save £15-£20 a month.

Made do, by sorting out my yarn stash left overs, and deciding to crochet lots of little gift bags and face clothes to give at xmas, rather than buy more yarn to make the usual scarves and hats my family love to receive.
It's not about getting what you want, It's about wanting what you get.

    Back from paid stuff.

Pinknfluffy hope the job option all works out and gets agreed for you.
Having salad for tea tonight some UU making do with what in and some from the garden other bits I had to buy.
I'm home most of tomorrow so hoping to get the mending done then.
Will hopefully minimise some more of the wool stash tonight when I get a bit more of the sock knitted.

Weather is lovely here so plan to minimise a few hours in the garden.

    Jackie,
I sometimes use up lemon curd by adding a tablespoon to a basic 4oz of everything cake mix plus a tablespoon of flour to balance the sugar. Spread some curd through the middle when it has cooled and don't eat it all at once!:)

I'm not eating cake at the moment as I'm trying to minimize me! I've lost 7lbs in the last 4 weeks by going to Slimming world ( I don't work for them)
but for once it seems to be working.

I'm also using up wool from my stash, by making a pompom baby blanket. It's strange to knit with, but once you get the hang of it, it's ok.

Mending. DH wants me to shorten the double cuffs on a shirt but I need to think it through before I start cutting.

Thanks chums for all the great ideas for my lemon curd stash :) any thoughts on sardines apart from pizza's.
I had a tuna and sweetcorn salad for dinner last night and will have the rest on a jacket spud tonight.Crumble was delicious and the last of it will be eaten for pudding tonight. I made a strawberry jelly up last night so that's in the fridge.I have half a box of strawberry sorbet in the freezer so a dollop of that will go with some jelly as a pudding (saves me buying cream )
Slowly working my way through the cupboard and rearranged the shelves a bit so the top shelf is actually clear now :):):) Yay only taken me a fortnight.DGS loved his Victoria sponge cake and the other boys enjoyed the melting moments biscuits.
Their big brother Ben is home from Uni on Sunday so I will be doing a lot more baking as Ben loves HM stuff bless him and he is always so skinny when he comes home and I like to feed him up.
Making today I think will be perhaps some more biscuits as they only take half an hour to do from start to finish and the boys really do love them.I daren't keep any indoors or I would be tempted to eat them :):):)
No Mending to do as I sewed DGS Mikey's swim shorts up already

    have a good day everyone

Making, I finished my 2nd sock and it fits beautifully.
Minimising I pulled the first sock back down to just before the heel as I'd gone wrong and made the heel baggy. I would have lived with it if the 2nd sock hadn't looked do good but now I know I can do it I want a matching pair of nice fitting ones.
Mending I'll do that this afternoon mostly stuff for Dh.

Can't find the st George cross flag I was going to cut up and make Into a dress for tomorrow (with a blue skirt attached) so going to have to think that one.
