Make do, Mend and Minimise in 2016

Hi MMMers and newbies!
Hope you all had a good weekend. We had a very productive one:
Minimised: an old ZX Spectrum and various bits relating to it listed on Ebay, as well as a few bits for the CS - will drop them round at some point this week.
Make do: We had asparagus in our veg box this week, so had salmon and asparagus risotto on Saturday night - it felt more like living in the lap of luxury, but it was all using things in the house and even better, I only had one piece of salmon but it was plenty for two, so very pleased with that!
Mend: Well not so much mending as DIY, but we did some plumbing on Saturday and moved the water supply in the cloakroom, which is in the process of renovation. It wouldn't be too much of a bother if we could turn the cold water off properly from the tank, but we can't - so much running around emptying water into the garden and collecting from a heavily dripping pipe. Got there in the end though! Also stripped a classic mini that was in FiL's garage - he's got to learn to weld now before we can rebuild it! Last years allotment grown onions were starting to sprout and soften so after outing them, I was left with 3lbs of good onions which I minimised into 3 jars of caramelised onions using the last of the Christmas baking brown sugar
Mending - sprayed the yellowing bath panel back to white with an aerosol of plastic paint - looks good even if I say so myself!:heartpuls The best things in life aren't things :heartpuls

Hi all.
Lots of mending done today.
We have started to restore the hallway floor in the new house. Previous owners had dug out a channel in the minton tiles to put a pipe down, it is filled with concrete and was covered in vinyl tiles.
We are also mending floorboards today in order to sand them back.
Not too much making do today, went out for breakfast and ordered new carpets.
Minimizing continues as we sort through the clutter.
Lots more still to do. Need to get to the allotment and tackle rtf he triffids.🎄PAYDBXMAS21 #11 £11,300/£11300

Hi All,
Made do with lasagne portion from freezer for dinner last night. Also, having pizza tonight and had to use 50/50 00 flour and plain flour (not strong) in base mix as that was all I've got. Hopefully the 00 will hold it together!
Minimising some bits to the CS shortly - not a lot, but it will be out of my house! (I'm definitely more minimalist than hoarder - DH has to point out that things might be useful quite often, before I'm prepared to hold on to them.
No mending to speak of, although getting my sewing machine out and trying to work out what's wrong with it is on my to-do list for this week.

A few more items listed on eb@y this morning. Hopefully it will sell so I can continue minimising.
Finished upcycling a wardrobe today, very pleased with the results, it w as s left in house by previous owners
I am passing on some plants to a friend as they are surplus on allotment.
Found wallpaper that matches current one in lounge so I only need to re-paper one wall instead of having to completely redecorate.🎄PAYDBXMAS21 #11 £11,300/£11300

Hi
Two bags of yarn left the house this morning for my church craft club. I feel so good and lighter in my wee head
after a lot of clearing out. My d daughter was doing the very same things last week and said it feels so satisfying to clear out and that she feels lighter in her head too. I have a little mending to do which will be done tomorrow and I am also knitting from some of the newly discovered yarn in the attic
I kept some and donated some:) Have enjoyed working in the garden today minimising slugs
and just feeling happy plus dh cooked dinner:) I am really loving here.:)

I folks, told you I would be intermittent
You are all sit sounding most wonderful. Keep it up
The festival was amazing and i totally minimised my hearing for Queen (ear plugs in the rest of the time).
I did succumb to a go on one of the fair games, but i chose one with the best odds for my skillso so as nt to waste money, but it does mean i now have a giant sea turtle cuddly toy. It lives on the soare double bed atm as it is too big for else where. I am on the look out for some oil cloth-esq offcuts to make him a base so i can use him as a cusHion in the garden. Cats are terrified of it.
Was economical on food as only ate on site fri and sun.
I have minimised my tracking and tutor reports, just the coursework pile, book pile and yr 7 reports to do by the end of next week.
To keep me sane, i have found a page in my school planner which i wont ned and i have started a list of things to make over the summer hols, inc converting pallets in to planters and a bench. I have the nails and ability and pallets are free.
Planning a trip to Londinium too, use the LSE for accommodation and big off for getting the train when possible. Most of this year is plain sight seeing so free anyway. Roll on 4 weeks time!!Mad teaching cat woman trying to be more frugal and fun0 -
Evening all
Did an inventory of the fridge, freezer and cupboards today followed by menu planning and a small supermarket shop. Money is extremely tight for the rest of the month due to me overspending while away at my sisters wedding. Well worth it but just means I have to be extra frugal/inventive for the rest of the month.
My friend gave me a load of toiletries today, she is moving away soon and didn't want to cart them with her so I have given them a homeWon't need to buy any toiletries for a while now so that definitely helps with not spending money.
Wasn't particularly hungry tonight so just had some poppadoms and dips which finished off some dips which were in the fridge from the last time we had curry. OH is planning on making a lasange tomorrow for tea which will use up some bolognaise that I found in the freezer. Got a couple of slightly mushy tomatoes so they will also get added to it.Mortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500 1.8.25 - £106,362.86
