Completely Crazy Clothes Challenge 2016

Ooh, me.
Far too much on clothes in the last couple of years. I'm going to say £240 (or £20 a month.) Hopefully less...
I've recently got a few bits in the sale so I'll have to check my CC to see whether they were January or December.0 -
I have just checked over my credit card. Aforementioned purchases were the 27th and 28th, so currently on £0 and hoping to stay that way until February or March (since it means that I spent about £60 on clothes in December - though of 6 items purchased, 4 were in the sale.)
Probably a bad thing that I'm going shopping on my birthday...0 -

Soooooo, today, I saw a pair of Levi Demi Curve on eBay. BNWT for £25.90 inc postage and I found myself buying them in the final 30 seconds of the sale. I will try them on and if they don't fit/suit, I will relist them and buy another pair with the money I earn for them.
I think you are right Mav, I'm not sure I could cope with a day or trying on jeans. I would probably end with loads of things other than jeans
Also, I got £2.66 interest on the £300 savings so my budget is now £302.66. That extra £2.66 might be the difference between busting the budget or not

They were a good buy as they are normally £95+ I got mine in Levis only half price sale of the year.I had no idea it was on so did all right at £45 a pair I am sure they will last for ever :rotfl:
I hope they fit you and you love them
I was browsing on EB*y as you do last night. Was so tempted with a pair of Russell and Bromley shoes they were so lovely.
My finger was on the button to bid at the last min and then I thought of this challenge and that I wanted not needed these shoes and stepped away from the screen :rotfl:But my god it was closeso slapped wrist for me.
I havent checked Eb*y this morning to see if they sold or not would be better for me if they have
Mav x
Edited to say just checked the shoes
The seller relisted this item.!!!!

Crazy Clothes challenge £300/£48 and 5 months /0 without spending :T0 -
I think it would be really good for me to join this challenge. I let myself spend a bit more then normal last year to celebrate buying my flat, but when adding up my monthly categories found I had spent £549! on clothes. I honestly can only account for about £150, which were three pairs of clarkes boots on ebay, and the odd charity jumper buy.
I have kondo'd (think that's the right way to spell it) my wardrobe and have enough of everything for the year. I'm therefore giving myself £100 for the year. So far I have resisted the sales and I think my weakness will likely be for impulse buys out.
I can honestly say that I need no more winter boots, no more summer pumps, no more heeled shoes I barely wear, certainly no more coats or jackets, no more wool scarves, no more wool jumpers, no more going outy dresses, no more exercise gear, no more bed time gear, no more t shirts, skirts etc etc. - that was therapeutic to go through in my head.
My goal is to make the £100 by selling some posh dresses and shoes I don't wear. I already have £20 towards it from Primarni vouchers I was recently gifted, and whilst I don't normally shop there it might be good for some basics.
I have also sorted out a bag of clothes I don't wear due to bits I don't like, such as the sleeves, or with repairs needed. They are all lovely cotton, linen, silk things which would be a shame to get rid of, so I'm going to work on making them serviceable.
I don't know of anyone else has followed marie kondo or tried to reduce their wardrobe whilst following this challenge?? I worry I will find it hard not to hoard bags of poor quality, unloved clothes with great plans to craft with them....0 -
However, in order to keep costs to a minimum I have been looking into capsule wardrobes so hopefully I will be able to style my existing clothes (that fit) a little better to avoid the usual boredom of wearing the same thing day in day out and have been participating in a winter style challenge on Facebook which has given me some inspiration.
I am also following the KonMari principles with regard to decluttering (I've already done clothes twice but still need to find the 'joy' in my wardrobe so will be starting again this week!!) I am also planning on turning round the hangers once I put everything away to see what I actually wear from the things I have kept :rotfl:
Yay, someone else doing KonMarie! Rylee, have you tried a capsule wardrobe yet? My main concern is where would I store all the other clothes I would not be wearing, as a pile somewhere outside my wardrobe would defeat the point of me having cleared my wardrobe. Any ideas?0 -

Personally I feel like if I can't buy any new clothes, I want to hang onto what I have! But it is early days, and I am also trying to lose weight.Fashion on the Ration 2020 - 5/66 spent0 -
Alright, I'm a little late to the party but count me in. I already did some shopping over xmas mostly for new underwear etc but I couple t-shirts too.
Target for the year: £240
Personal rules"
*Stop buying f***g jewellery from Primark oh my god you have so much already what is wrong with you
*Underwear exempt. My size changes a lot and I consequently only buy cheap undies from primark and end dup replacing them about twice a year. Shouldn't need more until summer, hopefully
*Only buy shoes to replace the ones I haveAqua 0/1850 Cap.One 0/450 Vanquis 0/500 HSBC 0/100

Quick sort out of the undies drawer this morning as per the flylady thread. I've thrown out one pair of knickers and a bra. Although underwear is not part of my challenge, I won't replace them yet, I'll try to manage with what I have left, which is quite a lot actually.Spend less now, work less later.0

Some good stories of self-control!
I chose an interview outfit from my existing wardrobe but got cold feet at the last minute and bought a jacket from a supermarket (needs to be cheap as I'm hoping it won't fit for long). When it came to it, I wore a jacket I already had and was one of the smartest at the interview. I've just taken the jacket back so that's £28 back in the kitty. I didn't get the job but at least I know I have an inteview outfit ready to go!0 -
Thanks to the challenge I went shopping for a horse rug (his leaks) and did not even look at the tempting arrangements of fleeces and jackets and tops for humans
Very happy with that.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!0
