  • Ahoy there shipmates

I do enjoy television but I try to write down things that I really want to watch and not do the mindless channel hopping that I used to do when very down (I also used to eat a lot of rubbish). :o
When down now I am trying to do other things such as listen to the radio while snuggled in a blanket relaxing by lying on the floor (so that none of my joints are out of alignment so that the arthritis isn't kicked off!) or read a book or go for a walk or get a chore out of the way and then pat myself on the back! :j

So the kind of TV I watch tends to be documentaries (one tonight and on next week channel 4 comparing different diets and working out what was a myth!) or really good dramas - or things I am a sucker for (currently have half an eye on Gotham) such as Sci Fi (Agents of Shield is back on YEA :T ) but I am no longer a soaps person - in the past I used to be interested in Eastenders/Casualty as I increasingly feel that so much just couldnt happen to someone or the plots are being repeated time and again!

NBI as with Freeview there is so much on I hardly have time to see all I want!
Last night saw the program about Versailles - the largest house to be built in the USA by this property magnate! Wow - I thought it was gonna be another nauseating progam about how the rich live - well it was but it showed how the 2008 crash affected said magnate and his trophy wife! She just couldnt stop spending - and couldnt cope with the household staff scaled down from 19 to 4!! Her kids were very badly behaved and one felt sorry for the poor nannies! He started grumping about the lights being left on - just as I used to!!! Quite a good watch in terms of the fact that lack of money can affect even the super rich! :rotfl:
    Nite all!

  • Hello everyone!

Interesting week in our house - me and my hubby are expecting! Delighted with the news that everything is okay in there after our scan.

Not so great news - had to fork out €130 for one blood test!!!!!

Mindful spending will hopefully save a few coppers for new arrival and so my budgeting skills will be put to the test. I'm hoping that as we wont be heading out as much and no big holidays this year after March we will be able to keep saving towards a house as well. Tall order but you need to have goals!

Today, I'm popping round to a friends house for some tea and then making nice HM dinner for hubby after his long day at work.

Welcome aboard agnesjr the good ship NBI is full of like minded folk, who also have had the 'light-bulb' moment for what ever reason.

I am one who just hates waste of any sort, and would rather spend my saved cash on things I really enjoy, like my DGC and my family :).
There is always something new to learn, or tips to be stored away for another day on here, a sort of mutual benefit thread which we all put our two 'penceworth into

    Agreed :)

Hope you are feeling better soon - as a sinusitis sufferer you have my total sympathy.

I've been watching the 'Money for Nothing' programmes but occasionally have to stop and leave it for a day as I get so worked up seeing the perfectly good items people are consigning to landfill. When so many people have to do without, the conspicuous waste grates not to mention the ecological impact of dealing with such massive piles of 'waste'

Must be getting old and having a Victor Meldrew moment :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Congratulaions Tatabubbly what great news for you both :)

I am still on the wagon ;) Got to do some decorating and have some paint but not quite enough so chucked a bit of White in with it to save me buying another tin and not using it all up.Such a waste when you have to do this.

The colour is fine and am sure will look lovely when its finished and no popping in the DIY store and being tempted to buy all sorts of stuff I dont really need.Which would have been me before I jumped on board ;)

I am learning from you all so thank you very much for the great posts they help more than you know :D
