Return to this thread December 2016

Following on from our December 2015 resolutions thread. Please post and inspire me :) I'd love to hear from you! I will post tomorrow as I'm a few glasses of prosecco beyond making decisions at the minute!

Well done to everyone who achieved some of their goals in 2015 - remember if you don't fail occasionally you aren't reaching high enough! So set your intentions now.

  • I recently read the updated 2015 thread and was inspired so..

I have a major operation to face next year and need to loose two stone to make my recovery quicker - so diet starts tomorrow!

My alcohol consumption has gone beyond safe levels so I want to cut that down to weekends only.

I recently bought a fitbit and it has really made me increase my steps - so New Years Resolution is to make every day a 10k day

    Here's to a great 2016!
  • Ok, I have had a look at last years goals on the other thread, and achieved all of these barring losing weight. It is lovely to look back at something I wrote a year ago and see that it has come true!

So, my goals/resolutions for this year are:

    *Lose a bit of weight

    *Get fitter

*Continue to save for a house deposit, and build our credit rating

*Continue to have a happy marriage

*Continue to spend time as a family, just being together and having fun

Cannot think of anything else, I am very lucky to *only* have these things to hope for, things have changed for the better over the past few years. To all of you who have more to hope for, may those wishes be granted for you in 2016 x

I want to lose atleast 5 stone by this time next year barring anything major health wise happening. I also want to get fitter and lose at least 2 if not all of my blood pressure pills.
  • IN 2016 I would like to:

Decorate at least some of our plain walls. I've no idea how to paint or put wallpaper up, and can't afford to pay a handyman, so will have to think about this one..

Try and get on top of my finances and really get disciplined with saving this year! I would like to open an ISA. (I have only ever had a basic savings account).

Start to introduce more meals to my menu plan, as we tend to eat the same 7 or so meals all the time!

Keep on top of the housework! The trouble is, it's boring.. :rotfl: I will try the flylady, starting in the new year.

Those are the main things :)

I was fairly successful in 2015 so here goes...

I need to cut my sugar consumption (I worked out I was eating 12+ tsp a day!) so over the last 3 days I have radically changed my diet. Today I think I have eaten 4 spoons of added sugar but I should be able to cut this in half at some point. I made avocado, banana and cocoa mousse earlier which was delish even though I hate avocados! I'm still eating whole fruit such as an apple and 1 banana a day; I'm also including sweet potatoes, but no added sugar from now on.

I HAVE to stop smoking otherwise cutting out sugar is useless right?

I need to learn to cook more, but hopefully that will come with my new diet.

I want to cut out all meats. At the moment I am a pescanarian because I'm afraid I'm going to miss out on protein, but hopefully I can learn more about foods and feel able to become a full vegetarian.

I want to keep improving my relationships with my wife, my children, granddaughter and siblings. The relationships with my brother and sisters are not good but I will keep trying.

I need to pass this first year of my masters-stop procrastinating!

It will be interesting to see how far I get in the new year

A great thread. I posted this on the New Year Resolution thread but it will be great to come back at the end of the year and see what I manage to achieve

    1. To increase my earnings by working on my business. If I haven't done this by June, I will cut my losses and get a job.
    2. To save at least 10% of my income.
    3. To cut out all food waste.
    4. To lose and keep off my excess weight. I will improve my diet and do more exercise, in particular by walking more.
    5. To use my craft materials before buying more, and to stop buying books, DVDs etc that I can borrow from friends and the library (we already have a swap club to a certain extent)
    6. To get out more, visiting places of interest.
    7. To clear my house and redecorate.
    8. To make some good habits, such as being more organised.
    9. To stop saying yes to people who say they want me to help them and then dump the whole situation on me.
    10. To stop worrying and to be more mindful. I don't intend to start everything tomorrow, but I would like to have made a good start by the end of the month.

    1) Lose some weight and get fit. I used to be in great shape, now I'm not!
    2) To cut my debts.
    3) Add at least 10k to my salary.
    4) Sign up to a language class

That's probably it to be honest. We'll see how it goes!

  • Great thread, my goals for this year are:-

    1. To loose 2 stone or there abouts, my health isn't good so loosing the weight should sort that out.
    2. Keep on top of the housework, I need to have a declutter first, so will have to make time for this in January
    3. Get out more, me and the oh hardly ever socialise, our 2 kids keep nagging us to get out more so will try better.
4.Get back into my running and exercise routine, once the weight starts to drop this will be easier.
    5. Teach myself to crochet, last year I got back into knitting and I love knitting for others, but I've always wanted to crochet, I've got the crochet hook and watched a few vids on YouTube , I will take it more serious this year.

I think that's it, all doable so there's no excuse for me.
