LL most people's passport photos are hideous. I work in HR, so see quite a few of them!!!!!

Happy Fab Friday to you all.

I have two parties to go to this weekend (the first tonight) so I'll use the time today for a bit of fabbing. I have a laser appointment today - I'm pleased with the results so far.

Shandy, just reading your post made me feel exhausted for you!:D I think you're a marvel; good luck with the module:)
LL lovely to have a nice long sunny break to look forward to:)
I look like someone off Crimewatch in my passport pic!:D
  • Thought I;d join the forum. I don't own a scales but I am hoping to lose weight. I have one or two dvds but I'm sticknig to free youtube videos as I'm also broke/trying not to over spend.
I'm just trying to eat less junk food since healthy food seems ot be expensive.
I'm also actually getting my hair cut by a hairdresser now so I feel good about my hair but it's frazzled by heat damage.
Anyone else find it hard to be healthy, fit and not overspend?
I don't know how long it will take for me to lose weight or even it I will :( But I'm going to try, just by doing more exercise.

Anyone else doing youtube workouts? It's be great if I could chat to people and get legitimate advice, reading about weight loss online put me off the last time I did exercises and one website says something is healthy the other says it isn't.

    Good mornjng lovely ladies

Don't forget it's Fab Friday today so best foot forward.

I'm not actually dressed yet, having a nice leisurely morning.gojng to do a bit more Kondoing later, including a tip run. It's not overly warm here so it will be "practical dressing" today, jeans and a nice warm sweater when I go out.

I don't know about you ladies but I have found I have hardly worn a coat this winter because although it's not been warm it's not really been "true winter cold" very often. I have had a lot of use out of my coatigans - they are loose enough to be able to wear over fairly chunky sweaters and I have found them to be really useful this year.

    Anyway........

Yesterday I bought 3 tops in white or cream, one sweater in jade and one pair of pale grey linen trousers. I also bought a lightweight long scarf in mid blue, a silver coloured knecklace and earring set and a silver coloured bangle.

    Not one beige item..........:rotfl:

I think that's my summer wardrobe taken care of, unless of course I spot some amazing chazza shop bargains. However, the basics are there to see me right through the summer.

So this season My colour palette will be wearing mostly whites, creams, greys and blues. The blues vary from airforce/denim type blue, turquoise and jades.

Still need to sort out the accessories to the wedding outfits.

As for the holiday....... Well yes it was done entirely on spur of the
    Moment. :rotfl:

However I had been mulling over the idea for a while.

Now that I'm fully retired it is my intention to try and escape part of the British winter. I had originally thought I might rent a small apartment for a couple months. However when I thought about it properly I decided that I might find that a bit lonely so I elected to stay in a hotel to be around other people.

I think I've got a good deal. £1200 including local flights, for 28 nights in a 4 four star hotel in Paphos - fully inclusive, large twin room with balcony and sea views. Fingers crossed. It means flying but it's only just over 4 hours and local airports so hopefully it won't be too bad.

I'll just have to knock back a couple of stiff g&ts to calm the jitters. ;)

    Hi Jenwales

Welcome to the thread. Re being healthy and not overspending ......well the ladies here will ha e lots of helpful tips and advice to help you sT r e e e t c h those pennies and help you lose weight and get fit and healthy.

My advice is cook from scratch, healthy basic ingredients don't cost any more than pre-prepared junk and convenience foods - in fact they can be much cheaper if you shop wisely.

Feast on masses of vegetables and fruit, using meat, fish and dairy in moderation. Cutting out biscuits, cake and sugary treats will save you a small fortune.

Exercise can be cheap or even free......walking is one of the best weight loss tools there is and costs nowt - all you need is a comfortable pair of shoes. If you are fit enough then running is even better.

Beauty products and toiletries needn't break the bank. There are some fabulous budget ranges and you can easily make simple things like face masks and body oils from everyday kitchen ingredients.

Clothes - mAny of us are huge charity shop fans.

Re your heat damaged hair. Depends how bad it is. If it's not too bad you might be able to rescue it with some deep conditioning oil treatments. Again this is dead easy to do yourself. Slap some oil on, wrap your head in a warm towel and leave it on as long as you can.

Coconut oil and argan oil are probably the best, but olive oil and any old vegetable oil will work well too.

Anyway - join in the fun and we will have you all fabbed up in no time.

    Have a great day ..........

Ps I think some of the larger Boots have scales where the public can weigh themselves. Failing that some Drs surgeries run weight loss clinics.

 Sorry but I've been MIA this week. It's been really busy (mostly nice stuff but also lots of work). I've now managed to catch up on posts but sorry if comments are a bit out of date.

My mile walk to and from the station for work burns 191 calories (I have slightly underestimated) so I've added that to My Fitness Pal.

That's good news and what I know of mfp, you can certainly 'earn' a few treats. It's a good idea to eat your usual foods to give you a starting point. And (unless you can palm things off on the family) you need to be mse and eat up some of the higher calorie things in the cupboards/fridge/freezer before you can focus on a more healthy shop.
Ive also slashed dairy so I'm wondering if I was previously sabotaging my efforts by eating too much cheese.

I love cheese and I really miss it but hey if cutting out cheese it's what it takes then I'll do it. ;)

It's the fat that does it with the cheese:(. When I was losing weight, I stopped buying cheese except for bags of grated cheese in the freezer. I'd add a small amount of this as a topping occasionally. I had an occasional cheeseboard when I was out as an alternative to pudding (far safer than having a block at home). The habit's stuck and although I'll now buy a camembert for DH most weeks I'm rarely tempted to have any.

I completely agree LL, it doesn't have to be expensive to eat healthily. Jen, if you eat seasonally or use offers (like Aldi Super 6) then you can eat cheaply. Veggie omelettes are good or lots of pulses for protein. I'm not a vegetarian but I only eat small amounts of good quality meat. So I'll make a big pot of chilli or Bolognese using the best 5% fat mince but with masses of vegetables added (carrots, onions, mushrooms etc etc) then I have HM healthy ready meals.

I don't have scales either. I use the 'clean jeans' test. I know that when I put a pair of jeans on, just washed and at their tightest whether I've put weight on or not. Any outfit that you are happy with will do. It's also great to feel something getting looser and looser as the weight comes off. I knew I was winning when I could take my jeans off without undoing the zip!:D

Good plan for Cyprus LL, and lovely to have something to look forward to. I think you're right to go in February. The part of winter that leads up to Christmas is always easier to deal with than waiting for spring.

We had a lovely day out on Wednesday. I'm not an Adele fan but it was a good show and an experience as I'd never been to the O2 before. So I've had a fab week and been making a big effort with clothes and make up but eating out so often (tonight is third in a row) isn't doing much for my weight.

I'm going to do my meal plan later and between tomorrow and Easter I'm only out once more so I'm going to be super healthy.

Out tonight to a formal meeting with dinner so need to be smarter than usual jeans. I'm planning to wear my black pencil skirt with the dark green chiffon blouse and black suede heels and take great care with make up. I've had a few compliments on my hair this week so although I think it's a bit short it must look OK.:)

Sorry for rambly post. Have a good day all.:A

Not rambly at all, maman - I love all the chatty posts on here:)
LL sounds like you good a very good deal on the trip;) At the moment we're still having to take our trips in school holiday time and the prices can be :eek: - only one more year of that though before we get a bit more flexibility with dates.
I like the sound of the colours you've gone for:)

As it's fab Friday I put my jo Malone body cream on today, even though I've only been to the supermarket! I love the smell; really gives me a lift, so when it runs out I'll definitely splurge on another jar:)
Just prepping a nice meal for this evening - it's been a long and tiring week due to various niggles and worries going on so it's nice to be at the end of it! Haven't started a proper exercise routine yet - just little bits here and there, so that's my goal for next week.
    Have a good weekend, fabbers:)

Feeling utterly fed up. Had to cancel today. Had scrambled eggs for breakfast with dire consequences.

I ought to be stick thin but I guess it doesn't work that way. :rotfl:

    Not looking very fab!!
  • Hope you are feeling better now LL, what a shame you had to cancel your plans :(

Ellsbel and Chanie, I do think the Shred is helping me to shift the pounds (and the 'mummy tummy' left over from the twins!) - I'm doing it every weekday, did L2 D3 today which is about the furthest I've got before. Not looking forward to what L3 has in store….!

Thanks for the other DVD recommendations, Amazon have a Davina DVD for a fiver which I thought was worth a try :) shame the local library doesn't have any for me to 'try before I buy'.

Floss, I love the overnight oats too! I've lost just over a stone now with another 1.5 to go. No-one has noticed yet but soon I will be out of the maternity trousers. It's only taken me six months!!
Finally debt free!! March 2018 :j

So sorry you're feeling ill LL - hope it's eased off now. Was it the eggs themselves or did you add any diary to them? It must be such a drag when you react to certain foods this way:(
Hope tomorrow is a better day for you.
