My mile walk to and from the station for work burns 191 calories (I have slightly underestimated) so I've added that to My Fitness Pal.

    Eighth Anniversary
Hi everyone, happy belated birthday Maman, glad you had a nice day & the sun shone. Good luck with the fab boot camp ladies & welcome to fab newbies, fabbing works wonders.

I have been fabbing, I've had a parents evening & actually felt "put together". One thing I think I will add to my list is taking a nap when I feel the need, I've been avoiding taking a nap and depression creeping up on me, Mr Coppers has been asking me if i'm ok because he can see it, he propberly knows me better than I know myself, I know I'll feel better with more rest, its all a part of feeling fabby.
  • Good luck with the fab boot camp LL and everyone else :D

Does anyone have a fitness DVD they could recommend? I'm half way through the 30 day shred and it's going well, I'd like to try something else afterwards but not sure what. It's easier to do a DVD at home than try to find time to get to the gym, I can stick the babies in bouncers for half an hour or so whilst I (hopefully) get fit!
Finally debt free!! March 2018 :j

Are you seeing results with the 30 day shred, ruby? I've heard a lot of good things about it. I've not used any myself, but Davina McCall's fitness DVDs get good reviews, I think.
Coppers I hope you manage to get some rest and that your mood improves.
LL hope you're feeling a bit better today - I think it's good that you're easing yourself into 5:2 so that it's not too much of a "shock to the system".
I'm like you Chanie in that I know I'm not quite ready for ww plan yet - I think with me I'm just not quite in the right mood to stringently follow a plan yet. I've also downloaded mfp, and I'm using it to record what I eat but once I get used to accounting I'll probably then use my ww books to keep me on the straight and narrow.
Not going badly so far but I have to confess to feeling horribly bloated - I can only put it down to the fact that I've been using blueberries and raspberries to snack on - not in huge quantities, but unfortunately even small amounts of fruit or high fibre food make my tummy uncomfortable, which is annoying!
Will plan out my day in a minute to keep me productive and active, but first, another coffee!

I agree with Ellsbell, I have the 30 day shred and I've heard good things about it, but I haven't been able to keep it up. I've also heard good things about Davina's workouts too. Ruby have you thought about looking on YouTube for some fitness plans? I haven't looked at them myself, but people on other forums have recommended them.

I'm now on Day 3 of the plan and its going okay. I think counting calories is much easier than trying to work out points at the moment, as you never know where the points are going to come out!!! As we need to do a food shop, for the past few days, we've been eating rather unhealthily, luckily, I've not gone hugely over my 1200 calorie allowance. The only thing I don't like about using MyFitnessPlan is that it counts fruit and veg calories, whereas WW doesn't.

This morning, I had porridge with honey and banana for breakfast and it was lovely. I do like porridge, but its rarely at the top of my list of foods to eat. I don't likely the taste of honey, but mixed in with the porridge, it was lovely.

Good morning fellow Boot Campers (and everyone else of course)

Chaney, Ellsbel - how great are you for making such good starts and for helping and supporting each other.........

    We can do this.......

Well what a difference an eight hour sleep makes. Yesterday I felt like death warmed over and could barely crawl my way through the day. I felt utterly drained and miserable, didn't achieve anything and somewhow just managed to drift through the day in an exhausted stupor.

Last night I had a good long soak in a magnesium oil bath, drank a "sleepy tea" - a herbal concoction - and slept for 8 hours straight. Utter bliss!! Today I feel like a human being. Not exactly bouncing around like Tigger but certainly feel much more like it.

Going to have a bit of a fab and then I am off to the huge Asda megastore to use their photo booth for my passport photo. Whilst there I might have a quick look at the clothing section.

I don't really go there very often because it's such a huge store I tend to feel a bit queasy sometimes when I go. I start to feel disorientated and often end up with a blinding headache. I don't know if it's the layout or the lack of daylight but it's one place that really does give me "sick building Symdrome".

Anyway the booth is at the front of the store as is the George clothing so if I just visit those two sections and remain relatively near the doors and Windows I should be ok.

I know I sound really weird to say that a building should affect me so badly but apparently I'm not the only one. There have been a lot of complaints about it in the local press and I know quite a few people who have stopped going there.

Anyway.......good news. It looks like the carb restriction is starting to work. I've finally shifted that needle on the scales. :rotfl: Only 2 lbs but I'm pleased as Punch. Ive also slashed dairy so I'm wondering if I was previously sabotaging my efforts by eating too much cheese.

I love cheese and I really miss it but hey if cutting out cheese it's what it takes then I'll do it. ;)

Still not managed any real exercise yet ..........:o

Keep Going Ladies.......we ARE going to nail this.

It's amazing the difference a little bit of walking makes. My allowance starts off at about 500 calories assuming I don't move at all... I've just walked (the long way round) to the post office and back (6000 steps in total) and now have a total of 1000 calories for the day. I know if I do 12k steps I have about 1500 calories in total - and more steps means more food :)

It's also interesting the difference between what the manufacturers say is a portion and what any kind of nutritional guide says... I think my porridge oats say 40g... I have 20g of either porridge oats or oatmeal, and add in a combination of whatever I have of: chia seed, dessicated coconut, hemp seed (not nice, but uses it up), sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, ground linseed (about 12g of seeds in total). I soak it overnight in half a cup of rice milk and whatever fruit I'm including (stewed apple, stewed plums, chopped banana, blueberries, chopped dried apricots/figs/prunes) and then add a splash of water when I cook it in the morning. It comes in at about 250 calories. And I have 30 ml of semi-skimmed milk in my coffee for another 15...

I'm currently addicted to overnight oats, natural yogurt, oats, yogurt, oats & yogurt layered in a small dish, topped with a little honey and fresh fruit. I make it when I'm prepping dinner, cover & pop in the fridge and remove just before I leave for work at 7.30am. I have my brekkie at 9am and the oats are moist, the yogurt is absorbed and it tastes scrummy. The added bonus is I eat less at lunchtime, and on occasion I've been known not to eat any lunch!

  • hello fabbers!

I've not commented much, but been keeping up with everyone activities, gosh we are a busy lot!

Last Saturday I got invited out for afternoon cocktails with ladies from my old work place. Almost didn't go due to a rotten night sleep, but dragged myself out and in the end it really was lovely catching up with old colleagues. I am not much of a cocktail drinker but tried something new call M6 Southbound - had many of my favorite ingredients including lime, earl grey tea, mint, basil, gin and a touch of black pepper! Have to say it was amazing! Photos were taken by the bar staff of cocktails on the bar and the back of me perched on a high stool in in the background, someone alerted me they were posted on cocktail bar FB page . I am short with a large backside so usually don't look good at all in this position, but surprisingly the photo does not look bad at all! I was encouraged, I might never be svelte, but 5:2 and intermittent gym are finally beginning to pay off!

The rest of the week has been busy with either work or OU assignment. I am halfway through a degree in business studies and this particular module I am really struggling. Today was the an assignment deadline and I managed to send it off with a few hours to spare. I celebrated by spending a few hours in the sunshine planting and tidying the garden, being joined by the neighbors elderly cat who seems to have adopted us as his 'daytime humans' when his owner is out at work (we are 6 people in the house with various schedules and 2 people who work from home, so there is always someone about) Later I went in and cooked Moroccan chickpeas, lemon and coriander couscous, fennel and orange salad and stick toffee pudding for dinner! With work and deadlines I have not cooked much lately so was lovely to spend a day being creative and domestic.

I am trying to keep up with the fabbing, had a nice bubble bath tonight with a baking soda face scrub, and bio oil after. I prefer rescue oil now, as I try and avoid paraffin liquid, but I do like the smell of bio oil. Reminds of my kiddies when they were little. Two of the girls had serious injuries with potential to scar very badly. They were anointed with bio oil several times a a day.

I think its early night for me. Everyone, and I mean everyone at work is, or has been sick, and a good portion of the customers we serve are in similar state. Two of my girls have just finished rotten colds and I am really hoping I can skip this one. I know for me much depends if I can get adequate sleep.
No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. Epiphany on 4/4/14 - went into shop to buy 2 items, walked out with 17!
