Last night I popped to Sainsburys and ended up buying a new pair of work shoes. My last ones were literally falling apart and I saw a pair in my size. I don't wear nice shoes for work as I have a long walk to work and shoes don't last, so I 'buy cheap, replace often'. The shoes I choose aren't pretty, but are durable . I really don't like them, but they were functional. My new ones are a similar style, but much nicer, so I don't feel the same sense of embarrassment that I did with my old pair.

Thanks for the make up tips chanie. I will buy a new make up bag. Yours looks lovely. I'm procrastinating because the freebie ones that I have (Clarins etc) are perfectly functional and I'm waiting for the MK principle (bring me joy) to kick in before splashing out.

When I worked full time I used to buy the same M&S court shoes in navy and black over and over again. Mainly because it was all I wanted to pay for work shoes and they were comfortable and functional. I have some Sainsbury's ballet pumps, they are leather so not the cheapest they do but they're a good buy. I've also put some pretty, tartan insoles in them so they seem to make them a bit more special than Tu shouting from them.

Oh Joy!!! I was just about to post a link to a new Skechers line when I noticed that my old favourites were back in stock! They're ordered and on their way!!:j

Maman, I really liked the make up bag when I saw it, but I hadn't spent that much money on a make up bag before. I saved up my change every week for months to pay for it, so I'm really emotionally invested in it!!!!! I enjoy using it so in my mind, it's worth the money.

    What sketches have you bought?

That's exactly how I'm thinking about a make up bag. I want something that I will enjoy and then I'll happily pay out the money.

I saw some Skechers Mary Janes in Schuh at the weekend but didn't buy them because they had a Velcro strap. I had a bad experience with Velcro some time ago because as I walked in them they loosened and came open so I had to take them back. The ones I've bought are exactly what I have now, very comfortable and incredibly light and perfect for when I have to walk any distance. Unfortunately only a couple of sizes are in stock at the moment.

Lovely moment tonight. A colleague called round unexpectedly with some paperwork and I was wearing my new White Stuff PJs and top for the first time. OK, I felt a bit 'dressed down' but a good feeling all the same.

I don't know about others but I bought the PJs for relaxing at home of an evening. For actual sleeping I prefer a 'nightie', mine are sort of long camisoles. But you don't have to disclose if you don't want to.;)

    Hi all

Just a quick fly by to say that I am still sticking to my daily make up and cleansing routine however I now think that a cream cleanser followed by toner is not for me as my skin does not feel very clean after the cleaners (if anything it feels greasy) and after the toner it stings and seems a bit too red. So on at the weekend I am going to buy some mircellar water and see how I get on with that.

I have been keeping up with my weekly bubble baths for relaxation and a pamper session with a face mask etc whilst having my bath. A lovely end to the weekend and prepares me for the week ahead.

I started really well doing my nails every 3-4 days but my nails quickly became brittle again and had ridges so I have stopped the nail varnish and am currently using loads of cuticle care cream, avocado oil and hand cream to get them back to normal. I think they may be okay to start painting again this weekend.

Enjoying everyone else's tales about exercise and diet. I am doing SW and it is going fine although I missed my weigh in this week due to family issues. As for exercise it has been a bit too wet and windy for me to go out walking this week but I have been trying to walk as much as possible at work to make up for it.

I have a horrible bug I caught from my DGD so I'm not looking very fab at the moment but I'm still carrying on with my basics. It does mean I've done no exercise and my diet hasn't been great but I have had nice baths with essential oils and they have helped.
I'm the same with pjs maman they are for relaxing in the house, for sleeping in I don't wear anything I don't like the feel of stuff tangling round me when I turn over in bed...sorry if that's tmi.
Maisie you will have to let us know how you get on with the mircellar water I've seen ones about but never tried any and my current oil based cleanser is nearly finished but it does work well with my skin.
konMarie and fabbing all the way

maman those are the type of shoes I wear for work. Do they last long? My commute involves a walk of a mile each way and it means my shoes wear out quickly, so I've always bought cheapo shoes which are easily replaced. I'd buy a pair like yours if I thought they would last.

If you see a make up bag you like, it's worth waiting as a lot of shops have offers at some point. I got £10 off my make up bag.

lolly hope you feel better soon.

maisie well done with your routine.

Definitely. I'm quite happy with my facewash and muslin cloth (Superdrug) at the moment but I know that when I buy the Benefit mascara it's much harder to remove. I'm thinking that micellar water just around my eye area perhaps.

Sorry to hear you're under the weather lolly, too many bugs around at this time of the year.

chanie, I can't really say how the Skechers would cope with daily wear. I've worn mine quite a lot over at least 3 years (but not daily) and it's not the soles that are wearing it's bits of stitching. I think the range is called Go Walk so they should be up to your needs. If I were you I'd give a pair a try or at least go into Schuh or somewhere and try some on.

I don't think it does any harm to give nails a rest from polish every now and again maisie. I've worn mine 'au naturel' for a while and they've grown lovely and long and strong. I'm thinking of getting shellac done again for a wedding next month.

I'm doing Fab Friday. We're off to the local theatre tonight. People don't dress up much so smart casual will be fine. I'm going to wear much what I wore last weekend: black jeans, Hobbs green (sort of khaki green) jumper, tartan scarf. Haven't decided on shoes yet as sometimes we walk there so I'll wait and see what the weather's doing later.

Blowing a gale here but I believe it's far worse in other parts of the country. Keep safe all.:)

Thanks maman I've just bought a pair of shoes, so I'm fine for now, but I will check out the sketchers when I need a new pair.

I did not paint my nails as yet this week, as wearing rubber gloves each day at work covers them up. I will do them on Sunday before I go to Karaoke. I had to cut my longer finger nails down, as they were tearing the disposable rubber gloves.

My hands have really improved since I started using Sanctuary 5 day moisture hand lotion, which my oldest daughter recommended.

I have just been wearing a black skirt with a bright coloured t-shirt each day to work as I need to be casual and comfortable as I clean.

Cleaning is built in all over body exercise. I ache all over and seem to have activated every muscle in my body. I have also lost 3lbs in weight since Monday, which is an added bonus. Only 3 stones to get to my 1st weight goal. Then I will have to move the goalposts again and make a new weight loss goal.

I have a Elizabeth Arden red make up bag, but the make up in it does not get much use. I simply keep clear glossy lip gloss in my handbag, no other make up.

I am feeling more confident, even when I look a bit drab in my work clothing and clumpy trainers. The trainers are a necessary evil, as I can not afford to have painful feet. I will go very glamorous when I go to Karaoke.
  • Hello all.

I really don't know where the last couple of weeks have gone, feel like I have been so busy I haven't stopped.

Diet has been a bit erratic but have been keeping up with the exercise, two personal training sessions in the park with different trainers and two runs. Got a 10k race to do on Sunday, little bit cross I haven't trained enough to beat my pace from the summer, but will be good to get round.

Desperately need to get a manicure and pedicure - if I don't manage late this afternoon I will aim for my Monday off. Got a massage today which is the most important thing - get my legs in a good state for the run.

All going well with the boyfriend, he's had to work every day including weekends and late nights too so we haven't seen each other for just over a week and won't until Friday, but we message each other a lot using whatapp / facebook and we skyped a couple of times which helps. I think he finds it harder being apart than I do - I had to get used to it with the ex, and his predecessor (albeit for different reasons), but I will be very happy to see him again. We will be going away for the weekend to meet his oldest friend and one of my oldest friends too. And the following weekend he is meeting my family. Hope they don't put him off too much. If he believes in the adage that all women turn into their mothers we will be in trouble!

I keep my make up and most of my beauty products on my dressing table, but I have too many so they have overflowed the drawers in the table and my wicker drawers so I have a number of make up bags on top. I really need to rationalise / put away the stuff I am not using yet (like some of the beauty samples) so I can get it a bit tidier.

I went to this fab event at my local perfumery this week - they specialise in niche perfumes, nothing mainstream, nothing you'd ever see advertised on the TV. I love the fact they support smaller producers and if you buy something there you won't find half your friends wearing it.

Anyway, the event was a talk by the perfumer behind a range called 4160 Tuesdays, which is made in London. It was really fascinating hearing the inspiration for each of them and then smelling them. I can't say I loved all of them - but as she said, the mainstream perfumers have to aim for the middle of the bell curve, she targets the ends - you aren't meant to like all of them, but you might find something you completely adore. I ended up buying a couple, one called Silk, lace and chocolate, and one called What I did on my holidays. So, not doing much to help get the dressing table tidy I suppose, but I couldn't resist - discount on the night and it was pay day the next day.

I didn't know the friend that suggested it was a perfume lover too, but we're planning to go to some other events and workshops now which is great, love having people to share my interests with. Joined up to the Perfume Society as they do lots of sample boxes and events about perfume. Will just have to resist buying lots every time I go!

Right, must dash or I will be late for the massage.

Good luck to everyone moving house. Keep fabbing xxx
