De-lurking to recommend these for makeup storage. Might be worth checking out Ikea too

I store my make up in an acrylic storage unit, a bit like this one. I got mine from home bargains for £5 and it has lots of sections so I can find everything I need. Tk Maxx often have some in stock.

Great news about the apartment LL. When do you hope to move in? And when might we see some pics?;)

Sorry to hear about the patronising GP. The good thing about the blood tests is that they should help rule things out as well as in. I think sometimes that sort of reassurance helps in itself. I feared the worst when my GP retired but his replacement is excellent.

All you can do is keep looking and hope something inspires you ellsbel. What matters is that you made that first step and although you don't like what you have now it's a start for moving forward.

Thanks for all the ideas on the make up storage. Yours is worthy of a beauty salon maddie!! I think I will look around for some sort of tray, it has to look better than everything just spilled out. I tried a basket but it didn't work for me. I need something with separators.

Just think LL, you'll be able to design a dressing table just the way you want it in your new apartment.:D

    Great news LL :j

As for makeup storage, I keep mine in a cosmetics case in the bedroom next to my mirror. Apart from lip balm I never take any out with me as I like to think that my last glance in the mirror is how I will look all day :rotfl: When I go away I take a few key pieces in a cosmetic bag.

Face and hand cream are on my bedside table and I use them on waking and just before going to sleep.

Been keeping up the beauty regime here and managing to stick in the main to healthy eating although I did have a couple of salted caramel cookies over the weekend which were delicious. To compensate I have stepped up the gym workouts so I am hoping for an ongoing steady weight loss.

Same here. And obviously it works :o

Makeup is in a flat travel case and a pink leather bag and mostly in my suitcase or a hotel bathroom. It doesn't yet have a place at home as my ensuite hasn't yet been done, but will live in there and I'll make sure I have decent storage and lighting. Hand cream lives on almost every surface in the house and in every bag as I need it all the time. Foot cream, lip balm and body lotion by my bed. This hotel has toiletries that are nice enough to consider taking away with me, which doesn't happen often :)

Struggling to eat healthily at this stage of my trip (I've been working my way through a green salad for 20 minutes, so I am trying), and haven't had enough exercise due to last week's cold. This week is very hectic - today was all on a plane as well, which didn't help so not sure things will improve, but I hope to get a swim in tomorrow sometime and hopefully some walking. Not sure I'll make my step target any other time this week.

Congrats on the apartment LL - it sounds perfect. At least with a bland beige box you can do exactly what you want and not be influenced by what's already there. Or feel you should be able to live with it. As for the GP, call in a couple of days and say the medication is doing whatever it normally does to you and you're stopping. That way she'll think you've tried. But at least she has ordered the tests before giving you the pills - she probably thinks that like most patients you just want a pill to make the symptoms go away. I'm afraid as the majority of people want a magic pill to feel better (or demand anti-bs) GPs tend to forget that they're not always dealing with the lowest common denominator all the time. Try another GP sometime (in fact, try to get round them all) and then try to build a relationship with one. I have one I see regularly for stuff that is being monitored long term, but will see others when it's urgent/unrelated to my underlying condition as 'my' GP only works 3 days a week and is very popular.

Think I might give up on my salad and go to bed as I suspect my jet lag will decide it's gone now I need it and I may oversleep instead of being up hours early!

I wanted to ask a question about make up. When Maddie said she'd been tidying up her cabinet/tray I wondered how and where other people store make up. I always do my make up in the bathroom as that's got the best light and I like the privacy when I'm pampering myself. What I find is that my 'go to' products (the ones I use regularly rather than spares or a few lipsticks) are often scattered around on a shelf or window ledge where the mirrors are. I have a make shift make up bag (freebie from a set of smellies) but I often don't put them back unless tidying up. I know this is partly laziness but I need to organise myself better. I rarely take my make up bag out with me unless I'm out for a long day or overnight, generally manage with a spare lipstick and sometimes mascara.

How do you store your every day make up? Do you take it out with you or is it for indoors only? Any make up bags that you'd recommend? Does anyone else prefer things laid out to hand and if so any containers you'd suggest?

My 'daily face' make up is kept in a tiny Lufthansa toiletry bag in my handbag - concealer, powder, eyebrow pencil, lip balm, mascara and blush.

The rest lives in the top drawer of my chest of drawers in my bedroom, divided into face/eyes/lips categories between old tuperware style containers that lost their lids.

I use the 'daily face' stuff the most and carry it with me because I often go straight from work to visit family and friends, and I am that type of person I need a bit of colour not to look sick or scare my dear mum! Any other make up gets used for occasions, then I usually select what I want and take it into the bathroom with me laying it all out on the bathroom counter. I am also lucky enough to have a daughter who is a makeup artist, so if its a very special do/I am feeling lazy, I will ask her to make me up and she chooses what make up to use. I must add here, though she uses the same products, I can never replicate what she is able to accomplish!

Night cream and hand cream stay on bedside table to remind me to use, usually when I am catching up on something on Iplayer. In fact handcream I have to have all over the house and one in my handbag as I need it several times a day. Serum, day cream and make up remover all kept by the sink in our tiny on-suite to remind me to use when I wash face.
No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. Epiphany on 4/4/14 - went into shop to buy 2 items, walked out with 17!

I can't help with the make up storage I'm afraid, as I don't have any. My beauty regime consists of a wash with a hot flannel and I don't use soap on my face. I have a bottle of perfume and a stick of non-perfumed crystal deodorant on the bathroom windowsill and a large mirrored jewellery cabinet on the cupboard by the window. DH and I have a bathroom each - he uses the ensuite shower room and I have the general bathroom. We also use our guest room as a dressing room so I have fitted wardrobes in there with all my clothes in and use the top drawer of the chest of drawers to keep all my hair stuff - hairdryer, hot brush and straighteners.

We are moving Maman but it seems to be dragging on.We still haven't a date at all. We are only moving round the corner, even nearer to the middle of the village. We are upsizing the house but downsizing the garden so DH won't have lots of grass to mow, leaves to sweep etc. We wanted to buy this particular house 3 years ago when we moved here but the owner wouldn't budge on the price and we didn't want to take out a mortgage. Three years down the line and ours has increased by 25% in value and his by only 10% and had been taken off the market but we found out he was still willing to sell. We shall get bigger rooms, and upstairs and a utility room, plus it is only 10 years old and never been lived in full time. Hopefully, it will be more energy efficient and easier to run than our current one, although we shall really miss our woodstove. I hope your move goes smoothly LL.

Today I haven't really any fixed plans till Metafit tonight. DH is out for lunch so I shall probably have lunch with DS and maybe arrange a walk with a friend this afternoon. Last night I made a card for my friend's 50th so need to sort out mounting it on a backing.

Today I'm wearing dark grey jeans and an oatmeal cotton jumper with slash neck and three quarter sleeves. They were long sleeves but very droopy and too long for me so I carefully cut them off, unravelled the bit I'd cut off and crocheted an edging on the new bottom. I wear indoor shoes in the house but will put on black ankle boots when I go out.

That's good advice greenbee. I have a good relationship with my 'registered' GP so I'll wait for an appointment with him if needed as I value his opinion and I know he'll listen. In the past if I've had a sore throat that I can see (literally) is turning to tonsillitis or a cough that my sore chest tells me is turning into a chest infection then I'll see anyone for an antibiotic.

I always have a spare lipstick in my bag for that very reason.

Sounds like you've struck lucky with the new house rose. I do admire your ingenuity with revamping the sleeves on your jumper.:)

Not much going on here. It's a ghastly day, pouring with rain and very blowy. I've got paperwork to do this morning then might do some sewing this afternoon. Comfy clothes (leggings and jumper).

Ohhhh - how I wish I could do things like that - am impressed! :)

Been MIA from here, just busy and overtired :( But today I am wearing (just for in the house, catching up on paperwork), fresh jeans with a plain black M&S tshirt, a 3/4 sleeve Betty Jackson Black black open cardigan with a bright blue scarf around my neck and then tucked into the 'V' of the tshirt. Makes a change to a sloppy jumper - nothing special, but the scarf makes a big difference. :) Have made a big effort with food for the past 2 days, too. Am really struggling with tiredness at the mo (menopause/ time of year/ husband working away/ 4 kids and lots of activities on an evening all don't help!) and trying to cut out quick fix rubbish to help.

Plan on treating my nails and then just clear polish this evening in front of the tv (if I can find anything to watch) when small ones are in bed :)

Hope all are well. Hugs to those in need of them :)

My make up is stored in an acrylic make up unit. I also have a small wicker box which has my skincare stuff (moisturiser, toner, serum, face mask, body spray etc).

I have this make up bag:
    http://www.coccinelle.com/gb_en/small-leather-goods/moluoge-pi-huazhuang-bao.html

I struggle with knowing what make up to keep at home and what to take out with me. The way I do it is that I keep my make up at home e.g. foundation/tinted moisturiser, eye make up blusher. My make up bag contains 'top ups' e.g. crème blusher (much more portable that powder and a brush), lip balms, lip sticks, hand cream, nail oil.

Last night I popped to Sainsburys and ended up buying a new pair of work shoes. My last ones were literally falling apart and I saw a pair in my size. I don't wear nice shoes for work as I have a long walk to work and shoes don't last, so I 'buy cheap, replace often'. The shoes I choose aren't pretty, but are durable . I really don't like them, but they were functional. My new ones are a similar style, but much nicer, so I don't feel the same sense of embarrassment that I did with my old pair.
