Glad the first day went well *sugar*
*Rose*, sounds like a lovely day at the spa - you're such a busy bee! I really admire your energy:)
Off to work in a bit. Did my nails last night and in the cold light of day I can see I didn't do a great job:D oh well; from a distance they're OK!
Still plodding. Biding my time ready to quit work but even though I don't like the job I do like the feeling of being an "adult" and earning in my own right after so long just being wife and Mum, so there's a lot to consider before I walk away from it.
Smart jeans, jumper and patterned scarf on today.
    Have a good'un everyone :)

I forgot to add in my earlier post - it was a salutary experience doing my exercise classes in a mirrored room. I have redoubled my determination to lose those last few pounds!! I look reasonably slim standing up straight and front on in my mirror at home. However, seeing myself in some of the bending poses I was horrified at the rolls of flesh round my middle. And as for seeing my rear view when bending forward and looking through my legs - horrible! I must try harder with the losing weight instead of being complacent and thinking, 'Well I fit into my size 8 and 10 jeans ok'. Especially as I have an old pair (20 years old) of size 12 jeans that still won't come near to fastening up.

What a fantastic boost starting your new job has given you sugarbabe. Your outfits sound great and compliments too!!

What are you planning to do next ellsbel? I know this isn't the job for you but have you started looking around?

I somehow managed to miss the fact that you're moving house rose. Is it local? Downsizing? (If there was a nosey smiley I'd wear it out:o). Hope you enjoy the shed clearing, it can be very cathartic.

I went into the city centre for a few errands on Sunday and brought home 3 cards with 3 Jo Malone perfumes sprayed on. Having sniffed away to my heart's content I think I've almost settled on the Oud one. I'm getting there.

Also got the Benefit lady in Debenhams to try out the brown They're Real mascara on me and also a sort of liquid bronzer that they do called Sunbeam. It's a highlighter like High Beam but bronze coloured rather than pink. I'm definitely going to buy the mascara and think about the other but I'll buy them in Boots because the points are useful.

I wanted to ask a question about make up. When Maddie said she'd been tidying up her cabinet/tray I wondered how and where other people store make up. I always do my make up in the bathroom as that's got the best light and I like the privacy when I'm pampering myself. What I find is that my 'go to' products (the ones I use regularly rather than spares or a few lipsticks) are often scattered around on a shelf or window ledge where the mirrors are. I have a make shift make up bag (freebie from a set of smellies) but I often don't put them back unless tidying up. I know this is partly laziness but I need to organise myself better. I rarely take my make up bag out with me unless I'm out for a long day or overnight, generally manage with a spare lipstick and sometimes mascara.

How do you store your every day make up? Do you take it out with you or is it for indoors only? Any make up bags that you'd recommend? Does anyone else prefer things laid out to hand and if so any containers you'd suggest?

It's dry but blowy here but I think rain is on the way (again).:(

De-lurking to recommend these for makeup storage. Might be worth checking out Ikea too

Maman, my every day makeup is on my dressing table in a Ted Baker makeup bag, handbag makeup (duplicates) is in a Clinque bag, new/spares/ not daily used lives in small cosmetics bags inside a pink shiny box (from Boots no.7 bundle!) on the CoD.

The bathroom is my best place for skin care and make up too, the light in the bedroom is not good enough.

I am lucky to have the use of the bathroom to myself, OH uses the shower room, and we only venture "out of area" when he wants a bath and I want a shower:rotfl: So I am able to spread all my stuff around as suits me. It is a large room, once a bedroom and I have two of these in front of a huge mirror. They contain nail polishes, make up and skin care not in use. On to top is a tray and a handbag organiser with all the stuff in daily use. Dental care and eye make up and brushes/pencils live opposite in a narrow high window cill where the light is better for my magnifying mirror. I am very lucky and I love having my own space with everything to hand:D

    Hello lovely ladies.

wow!!! To all the threads - there so much going on.....loving the make up storage ideas. My ultimate goal is to have a real dressing table - you know like on all those old Hollywood films.....:rotfl:

Well the good news.....I've got my flat.....assuming nothing nasty happens. I had to up my offer and I dithered about it and then I thought don't be silly, this is exactly what you want so what's another couple of thousand. Well apart from the fact that it's not a penthouse....:rotfl: which is what I really really really want. Next time.!!!

So ladies my very own city centre two bed two bathroom bachelorette pad, balcony overlooking the river, smack bang next to a lovely park. The building is at the top end of a quiet cul de sac where the park begins. So should be nice and quiet and yet just a five minute walk from all the action......shops, restaurants, cinemas, theatres, museums, a five minute walk from DS1, a few minutes in the car to DS2 and the right side of the city for easy access to my sister and my dad, avoiding the worst of the traffic snarl ups.

It's just on the edge of one of the city's premier locations, literally one street out and already I can see evidence of gentrification so I think I've backed a winner, hence the stiff competition. What I didn't tell you is that it's a repossession so it was actually very attractively priced in the first place, so even though I had to go higher I still think I've got a bit of a bargain.

At the moment it is a bit of a bland beige box but I can turn it into something quite chic and glamourous.

Had a good day yesterday, spent some of my advantage points on some bath and toiletry goodies in B@@ts and then picked up a couple of sweaters in Sainsbugs sale.

Today not feeling quite so great, went to the doctors. I need a load of blood tests to find out what's going on. As I'm new to the surgery I didn't know which doctor to go for so took pot luck. She was ok and. Very thorough so I feel safe enough but she was terribly patronising.

She didn't listen when I tried to explain that the drugs she wants me to take don't suit me at all. She completely ignored me. Needless to say I just won't be taking them. What a complete waste, but as the meds are only very generic and only mask the symptoms rather than addressing the underlying problem I won't be putting myself at risk and I will at least avoid some very unpleasant side effects.

So for now I'm afraid it's back to self help.......lots of rest, careful diet etc and just wait for the results of the blood tests and then take it from there. I'll try a different doctor next time. If the blood tests are inconclusive then I will push to see a specialist.

Sorry the trip to the Drs proved so frustrating, *LL* and that you're not feeling so great - congrats on the apartment though; hope all goes well and you're very happy there:)
*maman* I don't know what's next, to be honest. I am looking but doing some soul searching too - trying to remember what my passions are, and if there's something I can do based on whatever they are!:D
I'm feeling a bit jumbled at the moment - as though the answer's there somewhere but I'm not quite grasping it - does that sound stupid? Probably!!
Make up is stored in a dressing table drawer for me, with my every day items in a make up bag so I can just lift it out for the daily routine and add special touches from the items in the drawer for my "going out" face:)

Brilliant news on the flat ll and I know what you mean some doctors just don't listen.
I store my make up in two make up bags, one for everyday stuff and another for going out stuff. I keep mine in my bedroom but do my make up in the bathroom. I can't leave it in there as I have a 17 year old who seems to think my make up is hers too and really likes mine because it feels much nicer than hers!

LL - great news on the flat purchase, I hope that it all goes through quickly and smoothly for you. Sorry that you are still not feeling well, hopefully the blood test results will give you some answers soon. Sadly so many doctors will not accept that we are intelligent beings and have a good number of years to get to know and understand our bodies:(
