Our bed is nice and I haven't felt hot on the mattress, but then it's practically winter, so the warmth is welcome. I can see why people don't like the mistresses thought, the do feel different. as they don't bounce We tried a firmer memory mattress in the shop which was far too firm and didn't 'give' - I'm a fidgeter and sleep on my side sometimes. The one we have is a medium.

Hello Ladies,
I really enjoyed the Youth London Stories at Battersea Arts Centre with my daughter. It exceeded my expectations. :T The children ranged from 9 years old to 20 years old and were a mixture of boys and girls. One of the girls had such an engaging delivery, that I was drawn into her story of her life immediately. As she spoke, her words were so expressive, evocative and powerful that she was breaking my heart. I wanted to cry for the harsh journey she had encountered as a 4 year old migrant. She made us live and breath her experiences. At the end of her story, I asked her if she would allow me to give her a hug and she readily said yes and stood up to make it easier for me to hug her. It was a real cultural mix of stories, but the truth in each story rang out resoundingly. Each child told their personal story in a room on their own sitting on a chair facing our 5 person group audience. We were taken on a tour of the Battersea Arts Centre and the size of the building and the architecture really made me sit up and take notice. Luckily we had a experienced guide who made sure we did not get lost as we navigated our way around the building. The building is in need of extensive restoration, but there are still areas of beauty and artistry scattered around the building.
:)
I wore a red v neck sleeveless top, my red ruffle waterfall cardigan, an ankle length pull on black skirt, my black long leather jacket, my black acrylic scarf and my black leather gloves. I wore my new black leather ankle boots with my outfit and I was carrying my red patent leather Osprey handbag. I wore solid gold earrings, chain, and ring with a diamonique solitaire. I had on perfume but no make up.
Chanie thanks for your concern. The excessive perspiration on Monday was because I had a slight temperature but needed to get back to work regardless.0 -
Good Morning lovely ladies
Horrible morning here. I think it will be a day of quietly pottering about and staying cosy indoors. Going to have a nice dabbing session, eyebrows, face mask, nails. Cook a nice healthy dinner. Tackle some paperwork.
Cat is currently curled up on my knee, nice and toasty. He's got the right idea. :rotfl:
Chatsworth was lovely. A bright crisp day, snow on the hills. At the last minute I decided to wear take my waxed coat (very "county" as we say here - i.e. What well heeled country folk wear) I'm glad I did it was very cold.
Pre booked meal in posh restaurant was wonderful. Nice and warm.....so Much better than roughing it with the plebs in the marquee....:rotfl:
They had a Christmas market so we had a wander round.
An unexpected bonus.........I think it was because we booked in advance but they gave us a voucher for 50 per cent off another visit to be used before the end of May. It will be nice to visit in Late spring and have a stroll round the gardens.
We dropped back via one of my favourite market towns, Bakewell, famous for its puddings. It's a real "foodies heaven".0 -
I would like to get a memory foam mattress, but I have read that it can be very hot, what do you think?
I bought one and it arrived in the winter and for the first couple of weeks I found it really hot - waking up sweating, and I am bit young for it to be the start of the change.
I was starting to wonder if it would have to go back, but my body got used to it pretty soon after and now I love it. It's by far and away the most comfortable mattress I ever had. My ex tended to get hot at nights and he didn't seem to have any problems with it either.0 -
Hello all, hope you have had a fab week.
I've had a good one, not too busy which was just what I needed given how hectic the last couple of months have been.
Have been getting to bed early and most nights listening to Paul McKenna's emotional eating CD. Not sure I've managed to listen to it all the way through yet - even going to bed earlier than usual it sends me to sleep. But I've been eating in a slightly more controlled way than usual so maybe it's helping. Going to bed earlier has also meant I've been better at my beauty routine.
Managed to get through a bottle of water a day at work too - took in some sparkling as I prefer it and finished a litre a day as well as having some black coffee (not enough to keep me awake). Took lunch in every day which is unusual for me but a good way of keeping a bit tighter control on diet and finances. Took some soup in a thermos - was M&S but intend to make some to take this week - carrot and coriander is the plan.
One habit I need to break is eating in front of the TV. I hate my dining table and chairs - the chairs aren't padded and though I have got those tie on cushions they aren't comfortable. Anyway, I bought them second hand for £40 18 years ago from the girl I bought my first house from so I figure I have had my money's worth. Finances seemed to be doing well this month so have bought a much smarter small extenable oak table and four chairs which is coming on Tuesday. Intend to stop sitting in front of the TV to eat from when it arrives.
Went to the hairdresser yesterday. Hair has ended up a little shorter than I planned but it does look nice and the colour is lovely. All the same I think I will leave it more than six weeks between cuts next time so it doesn't end up too short. Hairdressers seem to feel like they are short changing you if they don't take at least an inch off each time and as I go more often these days to make sure the roots don't get too noticeable it's been gradually inching up each cut.
Bought myself a couple of dresses and tunics in Joe Browns as something a bit different for casual wear. They are a bit more boho than my usual choices but I rather like them. But today I am wearing a more conservative choice - a new chocolate brown scoop neck cashmere and merino blend jumper from woolovers. I can't cope with lambswool next to my skin as it makes me itch but this is softer and it's warmer than the cotton jumpers I used to buy as a non-itchy option.
Also bought a new pair of smart trainers - a chocolate beige and mustard mix from Geox. I lived in my rose gold trainers that I bought in there in the summer and these are a more winter appropriate choice and will go with more of my winter clothes. But I saw on line last night that they do the same style as my rose gold ones in bronze and am so tempted by them too. Really don't need another pair, but they are very lovely.... Maybe after next pay day.
Am planning to get some chores done at home today as it's not very nice weather and yesterday was quite busy running around in town. The house is starting to feel more like my own now, all unpacked after the bugs (no sign of any more yet) and have taken a lot of stuff to the charity shop so it's tidier too. More sorting to do yet, but definitely feeling the difference already.
Going to have a busier day tomorrow, got training in the morning, then a visit to the podiatrist, a trip to the cinema to see Fantastic Beasts (it's half price at the Picture House on Mondays) and then I will probably go to yoga after. I did a new yoga class with my usual teacher yesterday morning which was nice. I won't go very often as am away so often at the weekends but it's nice to try something new for a change.
Right, better get back to the chores, enjoy the rest of the weekend and have a fab week all x0 -
So pleased you enjoyed your day at Chatsworth LL. I've been to Bakewell, lovely place with a relaxed feel. It's funny you should mention the 'county' look. I find it's the same when I visit NT properties. There's definitely a look about how most people dress which makes anyone in white stilettos (I exaggerate;)) stand out like a sore thumb.
I looked up the Battersea Arts Centre sugarbaby and it is a beautiful listed building but a bit faded. Hopefully they'll find the money to refurbish. It sounds like the show you went to was a really moving experience.
When your cyst has healed from the infection will it be removed? It's something they now offer at my GP's surgery. They won't do anything solely cosmetic but I'd have thought as yours might catch on your clothes and bleed again they might remove it.
Geox are excellent trainers indie. My DD has a pair that she loves and I have a pair of their flat shoes (which I've not worn for a while so must dig out). I agree about hairdressers feeling they should give you your moneysworth. I tend to go more like every 8 weeks but my hair is highlighted so root growth isn't such an issue.
Decorating continues here. I've painted 4 more wardrobe doors today. They all need 2 coats so it's time consuming as because of the light it's difficult to get two coats done in one day.
chanie, do you have just voiles at your windows or as well as heavier curtains? I have very pale, thin calico curtains. My DH is keen to have blinds in the bedroom but I enjoy waking up in the morning to look at the sky and trees. I know that if we had blinds they'd probably stay down most of the time as they do in our dining room and guest bedroom (wooden venetians). I just have to persuade DH that our neighbours have better things to do than watch him!:D I looked in Laura Ashley yesterday but none of the fabrics grabbed me as being what I want to make a tablecloth to coordinate with the wallpaper. Temporarily I'll make a cheap one from some taupe/white gingham while I look out for some French style ticking.
Once I'd finished painting I've given myself a good pamper. Showered and defuzzed, a small face pack, all creamed including my feet and styled my hair. I didn't get around to a manicure on Friday so today I've taken off the polish and cut my nails back a little. I'll file them and put fresh product on later.
I'm doing well on the water. I have a 75ml sports bottle that I aim to fill twice a day plus tea and squash. Sadly wine doesn't count.:(
It's grey here but dry at the moment. Nothing planned but some cooking and eating. We bought the 3 EM Forster films on DVD (to cope with Poldark withdrawal) so will probably watch Room with a View later. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.:)0 -
LL it sounds like you have a really good day in Chatsworth and your visit to Bakewell.
Maman, there is nothing left to remove of the cyst, the skin is flat against my back, but it still weeps a clear liquid in small amounts so is not completely healed even though it looks healed. There is nothing to catch on my clothes. I have to have an ultrasound scan on the cyst area at my local hospital on Tuesday just to confirm that the cyst was definitely benign and that there is nothing sinister happening under the surface.0 -

That's really good news. I was thinking it was more raised. Hope all goes well on Tuesday.:)0 -
Indie, I have my roots done monthly, and a trim around every other visit. I'm a fading "dirty-blonde", and have recently gone for a lighter shade on my roots as the growth becomes more "ash blonde"

Good afternoon ladies,
Chanie, maybe the MF mattress's are much improved these days?
Maman :eek::rotfl:
Sugar, I had never heard of the Battersea Arts Centre until two nights ago. It was brief mentioned at the end of a film I watched, 100 Streets, what a coincidence
After strong winds over the weekend I woke to a sea of glorious colourful autumn leaves on the lawns, guess what I have been doing?:rotfl:
I hope you all have a lovely Monday.
