indie I'm really tempted to get a beauty advent calendar, but I suspect I probably wouldn't use many of the products. A couple of years ago, I made my mum a beauty advent calendar out of beauty minis and samples.

In terms of tips for using your products:
Keep hand cream and lip balm on your desk at work. I use the products as they are right in front me.
The beauty blogger Caroline Hirons says you should clean your face as soon as you get in from work. Firstly, the less time you spend with grimey skin the better and secondly, you'll be too tired if you wait before you go to bed.
Keep the products out - if you put them away, you'll forget about them.

Mr C has done about 70% of the bedroom and will finish it today, whilst I'm at my mums with the children. The push to finish it today is because the bed arrives next week and I don't want to have to paint around the new bed, in case it gets damaged. I used the opportunity to decluttering the bedroom. I'm on a mission to decluttering before Xmas - we have fortnightly rubbish collections and really struggle at Xmas, so I want to get on top of things.
  • Hello Ladies,

I am feeling better, but I am surprised that the cyst on my back is still weeping, especially if I do anything active like hoover a single room.

I will return to my Doctor on Monday as I will need some non adhesive pads and surgical tape to cover the cyst when I return to work.

I have been using cut up old clean white cotton t-shirts and white cotton flannels to make large absorbent pads, that I then pinned inside my house t-shirts to absorb everything that has leaked out of the cyst. It is definitely not infected material leaking out now as it has no smell, whereas before it smelt really foul.

I want to be back at work, as I feel like life is just passing me by and I am so bored of being inactive. Thank goodness for my savings, as that will cushion me for the loss of wages in my December pay.

I am trying to decide on the purchase of a new bagless, cylinder vacuum cleaner as mine is broken. I used electrical tape to do an emergency repair but that will not hold for long. I am using customer reviews to make an informed decision so I have whittled it down to a choice of 3. I will make a final decision today and buy my new vacuum cleaner online tomorrow.

Pleased to hear you're feeling better sugarbaby. Your GP should be able to answer your questions about what happens to the cyst going forward.

Not sure which vacuum cleaners you're considering but my DH loves his Dyson! :D We call it his as he does most of the cleaning here. I think he likes the transparent cylinder as it's therapeutic seeing all the mess he's clearing up.

Definitely agree with keeping products accessible chanie. Since I brought out all the Clarins products I use them every day whereas before they were hidden away and not used. Talking to the demonstrator helped too as I know how to use them although there are some good tutorials on youtube.

Decorating is a good opportunity to have a declutter. Although I'd emptied the unit that's been removed some time ago I have also decluttered my bedside cabinet and small bookshelf that I have in the bedroom as well. Most of the preparation is done now so we'll soon be on to painting and papering. I'll be painting the wardrobe doors so I'll use that opportunity to have a declutter of those and persuade DH to do the same to his. I also need to go and choose a new carpet, just something plain. We have a local independent that's very good and prompt with delivery too.

It's clear and bright here although nothing much planned other than a potential trip to B&Q!:rotfl:

sugar we have a Dyson. It can swivel, which I love as I naturally tried to do with my vacuum cleaner anyway. Is black Friday in a couple of weeks, so if you van hold out until then, you may get a bargain.

maman What colour carpets are you going for?

I had my hair cut today. I'm growing it, so it was trimmed, but I also had it shaped so it will look nice as it grows. I was going to get my eyebrows threaded, but the children were getting bored, so I left it.

I only bought these calendars having looked at the contents and knowing there was enough in there to justify the purchase price, so anything I don't use can go as a gift. But I know what you mean, it's easy to look at these things and get carried away, and then look more closely and realize there's not actually a lot in there that suits you.

I do leave products out where I can see them but I am strangely capable of not seeing what is in front of my nose at times - bottles of water included - that's the usual trick they tell you to do to become more hydrated, leave a bottle of water on your desk, but I can not see that too. However, if I leave chocolate on my desk I definitely see that! Perhaps if I can be a bit calmer at work I will spot the healthy things rather than the unhealthy.

I think the tip about cleansing when you get home from work is a good one. I often come in ravenous and go straight to the kitchen, which I think means I need to plan a snack for the journey home so when I get in I can go and get my make up off or at least the grime of the day and put some rich night time products on, change into cosy pajamas and start winding down properly. Might even do a few relaxing yoga moves and listen to some relaxing music or a self hypnosis CD. I have had Paul McKenna's stop emotional eating one for ages. Whether it will work I don't know, but I am pretty sure there is more chance if I actually listen to it than keep it on the shelf!

Didn't quite get round to pedicure at the weekend but did the manicure and facial and both feel better for it. The feet really need to go to the podiatrist so he can use his scalpel on them, but am waiting for him to say my orthotics are read. I am getting some made which will go in things like my smart winter boots as the ones I have really need to go in something you can take the insoles out of, so mainly trainers and my hotter shoes. And I did put some intensive cream on my feet a few times and they feel better for that, so I could paint the toenails tonight and leave sorting out the soles until the podiatrist calls. I took the polish off my toenails a few weeks ago and have felt slightly naked without colour on them, bit daft given no one but me sees them, but it does make me happy seeing them looking a cheerful colour.

Did get a lot of sorting out done, got a bunch of stuff to go to charity which a friend is collecting later to take to the charity shop her friend volunteers at. Also got my summer and too small clothes put in zip locked bags rather than clutter the wardrobe up with them. It is nice being able to see what I have and move the hangers in the wardrobe rather than have to push to get extra items in and crumple them in the process.

Had a long lunch with friends yesterday - we met at 2:30 and I got home at nearly nine! Dinner ended up being crackers and a protein ball.... really must do some food shopping! Will see how busy my diary is this week, might be more realistic to just get some nice M&S ready meals. I think the Balanced for you ones are pretty good.

Today I my usual training session and then am going to see a friend who lives in SW London and we're going to Kew Gardens. I've lived in London not far off ten years now and have never been so am really looking forward to it.

No yoga tonight, my teacher is off on a course. But now my bedroom is decluttered I might just get a DVD out and do that on my own, my sister bought me a relaxing yoga one at my request that I've not done, but I do have space for it now.

Have a good week all x
  • Gosh. You all sound busy. I'm quite breathless........

Me too, have been decluttering, putting up posters and paintings. It must be a hygge thing.:rotfl:

    Good news .....

My healthy eating and exercise has paid off. My blood sugars are now back to the top end Of "normal" so not even pre diabetic. I feel relieved but I'm not complacent. I realise I will need to remain vigilant.

Have also been working hard with exercise for my leg amd shoulder. Leg doing well, shoulder improving slowly.

Not much news here. I have booked our Christmas trip to Chatsworth. This time I have also prebooked lunch in their formal restaurant. The Christmas market will be on too so it should be a good day out. We going on Friday - it will be busy but at least we will avoid the weekend crowds.

    Don't forget tonight's super moon.

It's strange how we can mindlessly eat snacks but not healthy things indie.:rotfl:

I do have some success with a water bottle. If I fill it before settling down to go through emails/make calls then I can get through 750 ml or more. It all helps.

It's many years since I've been to Kew but I've never yet been to Chatsworth. It's on the list! I remember being at Kew and when a plane went over marvelling at how technology had changed from the massive use of cast iron in constructing the Palm House to making something able to fly.

It'll be a plain, fawn (or dare I say beige;)) carpet chanie. It's what we have in the rest of the house. I'd like to have new throughout all the same but that would be a massive and unnecessary expense.

I can see why you're waiting for a call from the podiatrist indie but I really would recommend regular appointments particularly with all the walking you do. I bought a 6 session programme up front which is quite mse as there is a saving on separate appointments but also means I go regularly.

I've done all my usual fabbing today including creaming my feet. I'm going to wear one of my velvet skirts to go dancing tonight, probably a grey White Stuff one with turquoise pattern.

It's dry here but a bit overcast. Hopefully it'll clear by the time the moon rises.:)

Ours is beige too. I like that it's neutral, as we can change the walls and furnishings and it won't clash.
I hope you have a nice time dancing tonight.

indie I came home tonight and the first thing I did was wash my face. I'm pretty good at doing it anyway, but I thought I'd live dangerously and change my routine. I know what you mean about feeling hungry when you get in from work. I sometimes wash my face whilst preparing my dinner e.g. if something s in the microwave, I'll wash my face whilst it's cooking and by the time I'm done, dinner is ready.
  • Evening everyone,

Great tip there chanie about washing your face as soon as you get in. I always forget and then end up trying to do it at bedtime whilst really tired! I still haven't found a decent night moisturiser but am going to try the Body Shop Vitamin E one; went to our local Lush at the weekend but was disappointed by their range (it's only a small shop).

We're considering going to the Christmas trail at Kew indie, we went in the summer but had disappointing weather, at least we'll know what to expect in December!! And we visited Chatsworth House last August LL, it was absolutely stunning, enjoy your lunch :D

Sugar, if you have the facility to collect heavy things from ebay, you might pick up a nearly new vacuum cleaner from there - I got my bagless Vax one from there four years ago for £10 and it's still going strong, despite me accidentally running over the cord!

Not much new from me, the healthy eating has had to take a bit of a back seat for the moment as DS1 has been ill - he was off colour and had no appetite for a few days, and now has come out in a big rash :( I think it's the 'measles' part of his MMR jab that's affecting him, which apparently can happen but is quite rare, I have to take him back to the GP tomorrow for them to check him over. Ironically he's actually feeling much better now he has the rash, but it looks awful!
Finally debt free!! March 2018 :j
  • Hello Ladies,

I returned to work to find that the cleaner that had taken over my floor had obviously been angling for the gold medal in cutting as many corners as possible while still calling herself a cleaner! ;) I was really angry that after being absent for 7 working days, the whole floor is looking dirty and neglected. The layer of dust had to be seen to be believed. :o

It meant that when I had done 2 hours 55 minutes of non stop cleaning, there were rooms that I had not been able to complete the cleaning. By the end of the week, I will have the whole floor shining like a new pin again everywhere.

It was a bit of a struggle but I had no real choice but to return to work even though I was not feeling completely well. I could not stop sweating as I was doing the cleaning. My hair was literally dripping let alone my body and face. I had to keep patting myself dry again with paper towel but even on the way home, I had to pat my face dry on the bus. Not a good look. I was being asked by other cleaners and one of the teacher's if I was okay but I just said I was fine, even though I was far from it. Lucky for me I had the foresight to take a clean t-shirt with me to work, so at the end of my working day I could change out of my wringing wet t-shirt.

I will wait for Black Friday to buy a new hoover, as I would not like to miss out on any real bargains. I will not be looking at a Dyson, as I do not want to spend £200 or more on a hoover. I know they are effective, but they are very costly to repair if they do break down or malfunction.

I complained to Tesco about my cheap hoover that has broken even though I had owned it for 19 month's and it was only guaranteed for 12 month's. It only cost £36.50 originally and I effectively got it for free as I paid in Clubcard vouchers. They have agreed to a £10 goodwill payment in the form of a Tesco gift card which is in the post to me. I was really pleased at their immediate response to my email of complaint. :T
