Sorry to hear you've not been well Maddie.:)

Your outfit sounds really lovely, very striking colours. I'm glad I'm not the only one that still likes skinny jeans. If we listened to the fashion pages we'd be wearing something different but I think they're a good look, especially with boots.

I've just put the Barry M mani thing on my nails. It's a matt finish so looks a little odd as I'm used to polish. I think I'll put a topcoat on as well.

maddie I hope you feel better soon.

maman thanks for the Home Bargsins finds. I'm going on Sunday.

ll well done in your bargains.

I've had a treat day. I had a facial, which was a birthday present I haven't had the chance to use before now. I bought a new top - I'd seen it online and I wanted to try it on so I could grab it in the winter sales. When I was in store, they were doing 20% off, so I thought I'd grab it now. I also had lunch at wagamamas, which was noodles and a vegetable juice.

I also booked a hairdressers appointment for this weekend fir me and DD. As I'm growing my hair, I'm only getting it trimmed, but it's long overdue. It would have been nice to get my hair dine today, but I needed to get back to pick up the children from school.

This weekend, we are going to paint our bedroom. Ideally, we would have got someone to have the children whilst we painted, but DS has a birthday party to go to tomorrow, so we will have to work with the children at home with us.

Yep, I've been giving silver some thought too, and all my jewelry is silver :/. At this point I may just order a selection, try them on to see which I like the look of and am comfortable in then return the rejects :D

I think I'll have to try some on too see what I think.

Sounds like silver the best choice. Thinking about it, if a black dress suits you then silver would suit you too. Black being a cool colour as is silver. I know gold is often shown as detailing on black items, but it really goes much better with chocolate brown, both being warm.

You're lucky if silver suits you - I am an autumn and so I should wear gold copper, bronze etc, and solid gold is buttock clenchingly expensive - I don't own very much. I get some gold plated stuff and wear lots of beads - glass or stone. I still have some silver but I really should get rid of it, doesn't look as good on me.

I have had a bit of an extravagant week on the beauty products. Ordered the You Beauty advent calendar at the start of the week - the contents are worth way more than the price, and if I won't use everything, some of it can be given away as presents. Then I saw M&S also have theirs on sale now and you have to buy some other beauty products to be able to buy it - got some manicure accessories and some relaxing pillow spray for my bedroom - my This Works one has almost run out and am going to see if the much cheaper M&S Ragdale Hall one does the job as well.

Today I have literally nothing I *HAVE* to do - that's not to say I just plan to sit around all day, but it's a novelty not to have anything fixed in the diary. I had in mind I would sleep in but sure enough I woke up at 7:15 and even though I decided to finish the book I started last night (I am a super quick reader) I didn't nod off over it so I was up an hour later.

It's foul weather here so I am mainly going to stay indoors. Rough plan for the day is to do a home facial this morning before showering etc. I am testing some products for the Beauty Bible book and there's a face scrub mask they sent me which is messy as hell so prefer to use on days when I am washing my hair, and I want to use my nice moisturising one after. Might try to put an intensive conditioner on my hair at the same time.

I also want to finish sorting out some stuff for the charity shop and drive up to the high street to drop it off. I might have a look in white stuff while I am there, they are reopening after refurbishment and have a discount day. Though I must look in my wardrobe first and check I am not just duplicating or buying more of the same... not sure there is much I need right now.

I also have a bit of tidying up to do at home - things got a bit out of control during the whole bug treatment episode.

This evening will be a relaxing one at home - main objective is to give my feet a very good scrubbing - they are somewhat hoof like after walking the Camino last month. So a good home manicure and pedicure whilst watching Strictly Come Dancing and catching up with the TV I recorded during the week. I was out last night so I have Graham Norton to look forward to.

Maddie hope you feel better soon.

Have a fab weekend all x

Maman - I think that I will be wearing skinnies/jeggings/leggings until I can no longer get myself in and out of them:rotfl: I have skinny legs, thighs and butt, so they and tunics with ankle boots, or just plain trainers for the hoofing about days is a good look on me. I love the fact that (providing we don't have thin skins against the comments of others) that those of us of "an age" can wear whatever makes us feel and look good and that we are not pressurised into beige:( I watched Prunella Scales and Tim West on one of their boating trips the other day and loved it that she was still wearing (and looking good) in Jeans.

Chanie - your facial sounds so good, your proposed haircut will add to your feel good factor too. I hope that the decorating goes well.

Indiepanda - your anticipated pampering session sounds just the thing for a wet day, hope that you enjoy your calendars with all the lovely new products.

LL - So pleased that your horrid aches and pains are resolving at last, you have had some great shopping buys to cheer you up too.

Sugar - That abscess sounds so painful and unpleasant, I do hope that it clears up very soon or you. I am sure that you will soon say goodbye to the weight gain once you are active again. Take care.

Angrybear - Your dress looks lovely, I am "cool" so silver would certainly be my choice for accessories, sounds like it might be good and very versatile on you too.

I have a family lunch to attend tomorrow, 25 of us, the first time we have all been together for a while, looking forward to it, will have to try some things on today to see what fits, it would be nice to dress up a bit if any of my dresses still look good. Nails are in a bit of a state, so lots of tlc and some nice nail polish needs to be put on today too.

Have a good weekend whatever the weather is doing with you:D

  • I am another one that loves my skinnies/leggings/jeggings, I hope some version of them always stays in fashion, even if they don't I hope I can buck the trends and wear them anyways. I am 5.2 and 10 plus kg overweight. Most dresses and skirts drown me and make me look even shorter than I am, but a long top/tunic and skinnies/leggings/jeggings slims over the lumps and shows off my slimest parts. I am also a summer baby having grown up abroad so always fighting the cold - this look is great for layering with camisoles, long sleeved t-shirts, and long cardigans, boots and scarves. My struggle is how to make this look a bit smarter for work since we aren't supposed to wear jeans.

IndiePanda, it might be advice too late, but we got a steamer when we discovered a vising relative had brought bed bugs in their suitcase. My brother is a artist who had just been working at comic com Amsterdam. He lives in Oz so stopped off to see us before going home. Picked up from the hotel in Amsterdam we are guessing. We did fumigate but it was 2 sessions of steaming the entire room, a week apart that finally finished them off.
No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. Epiphany on 4/4/14 - went into shop to buy 2 items, walked out with 17!

I'm pleased to hear I'm not the only one that still likes my skinnies. :)

Agree that it's great there's no expectation to move into beige at a certain age maddie although sadly many women do. I think I said on here the other day that my DD, DGD and I could all wear the same and we often do: jeans, top, scarf and boots or ballet flats.

shandy , I have a couple of pairs of really straight, tight black trousers that you could wear for work instead of jeans. Another idea is to wear a shortish skirt with your top/tunic and then leggings or opaques with boots.

I've been to the theatre again today. The age range that seem to go to matin!es seems to have happily gone over to beige! :rotfl: I wore my black skinnies with a red jumper, red ankle boots and a tartan scarf with a black jacket. My jeans really have seen better days though so I must find a new pair.

I am envious of anyone who can wear skinnies, sadly I have short carrot legs and they just don't suit my shape.

Shandyclover, I agree with maman, I feel like cold so wear a lot of layers and had to be fairly smart for work. Thinner cardigans rather than bulky ones, over thin jumper, over top, over contrast long line vest, black trousers (narrow bootleg for me) or black skirt/opaque tights/boots. Hush was a big inspiration for me, I waited for their sale and bought quite a few jumpers, and a few of their skirts which gave me smart work options. I bought the underneath layers from Gap or Matalan.

indiepanda, I was very temped by the M&S advent, and the youbeauty one. I had already got the sanctuary one so hard to justify another.

    Good evening ladies,
Lovely positive post again, lots of glamourising :D is making me feel quite frumpish :(
I was laid up with a old back and shoulder problem, from experience the only thing I can do is lay flat, usually for several days  Going to the bathroom is quite a feat! Any who I am up and at em again.
I have had to catch up with picking walnuts and raking leaves, so schleping around in wellies and gardening gloves for nearly a week. Bacause I was in a hurry to get the job started I forgot to put my gloves on the first day, My fingers are now stained, like a heavy smoker:rotfl: Lots of TLC needed.

Sugar, I hope you are feeling better?

Maddie, have a lovely time romorrow, it will be great catching up with your family:)

LL, good luck with your Paleo baking, I tend to bake more during the winter months. It was a interesting to watch the US elections, a bit of a do ;)

DH watching the world cup qualifers so I shall find a film to watch on the ipad :)

    Goodnight ladies.

That's a good thought. I do have both a wallpaper steamer and a clothes one. So far it looks like the last treatment might have done the trick, but we will see - they can go dormant for up to a year, though I would hope that's usually when there's no food to hand.

Yes, I haven't even used up all the products from last year's calendar so I shouldn't really have indulged. But they are such good value for money even if you only use half the contents.

Still, need to be a bit more organised to get better value out of it this year. I am still better at buying products than finishing them up.

Too much time messing about on line over breakfast then not having time to apply body lotion after the shower, too much time playing with my phone on the bus and then forgetting to apply handcream and getting chapped hands in the cold, too much time watching TV at night then falling into bed without doing night time face routine (I don't often wear make up, but I should still cleanse and put facial oil and night cream on).

Am hoping the fact I have to do a bunch of reviews for the beauty bible will get me into a better beauty routine. I did a home facial including using the scrub mask I am testing for them yesterday and made sure I did my night time routine using the facial oil and night cream I am testing.
