Well, it looks like my life as a laydee of leisure is coming to an end...some of you may know that one of my hobbies is baking & cake decorating, and I've been offered an opportunity to work in the kitchen of a local eating pub which has an excellent reputation for its desserts & cakes. It's a big departure from my professional life as a senior PA but somethings are too good to pass up on, so at 9am tomorrow I will be up to my elbows in sugar & eggs!

Congratulations, hope you enjoy the change of career.

Have a good weekend indie. It's pouring with rain on the south coast at the moment so hopefully you'll drive it away.:D We're heading to Chichester in an hour to run an errand so would like the rain to stop.

I think it worked... rain eased off as I drove down the motorway on Friday and it was sunny as I left Cissbury ring to drive back to London at lunchtime.

Had a really nice weekend walking and catching up with friends I've made on other trips. Waiting to see what the calendar for next year looks like now - the company I go away with organise about 50 different weekends away in the UK, a couple of weeks in the UK and three overseas, so there should be plenty of choice.

It's very odd not having any hiking trips in the diary to look forward to. However, I don't tend to go away hiking much this time of year as the weather is so unreliable. Probably going to do some day walks with Capital Walkers (one of the London ramblers groups) instead over the winter. You don't need to book in advance, so if the weather looks like it's going to be foul you aren't committed to turning up and haven't lost any money.

I also need to just get into a bit of a routine with diet and exercise now - try to shed some of the excess weight over the winter and emerge in the spring for hiking season like a butterfly emerging from the coocon. Or something like that anyway.:rotfl:

Anyway, off to the pub shortly - it's quiz night and we haven't been for ages as one or other of us has been away for the last few months. Usually we do fairly well, even won a couple of times, so hopefully we won't disgrace ourselves for the break.

Thought I'd pop in - I've been keeping up to date with the thread, but haven't posted, as I've been rather busy. I won't comment on what's happened recently, but will do going forward

Good to 'see' you chanie .

The nail shop I use is open on Sundays (I think up to Christmas) so I went today and had the shellac taken off. They did an excellent job, cut and filed my nails as well and put on a coat of clear varnish.

I went to Superdrug and bought a treatment and a topcoat in the Barry mani range. All make up was on 3 for 2 so I also got a 'free' eyebrow pencil as I was getting low on my favourite Maybelline one. The offer is across all brands.

Hope you're having a good time at karaoke Sugarbaby
    :D
  • Thank you for the tips Sugarbaby :) I do try to sit and eat at the table with the boys, but if I'm pushed for time it doesn't always happen! Since they were ill on holiday they have definitely had smaller appetites too, which doesn't help; DS1 is still a hummus fiend but apart from that he'd be happy to just have milk :( we'd done really well with the weaning and they were happy to try lots of different things, but now we're back to the basic (bland) foods that they liked originally.

Nap times are fairly settled, around 10.30am and 2.30pm at the moment, although not always for long - 30 minutes to an hour usually. I do have to push them in the buggy or be driving them somewhere for them to nap at the same time, haven't cracked the napping at home yet.

I'll definitely try working out with them, they will have a good laugh at me if nothing else :rotfl: they've been poorly for the past few days though after their vaccinations, today's the first day they've been happier again.

Would you go back to the nursery nursing Sugarbaby? I'm glad your cyst seems to be healing by the way (don't forget that you need to be signed back on by the GP if you want to go back to work early - that way they can check it's all going ok!) and good riddance to Wayne, if he can't be bothered to help or even ask after you.

LL, your shopping sounds lovely! I hope you are feeling pampered and treated :D I'm looking for a nice night time moisturiser, my current one is rubbish - thinking about trying a more 'natural' one from the Body Shop or Lush, my skin's getting a bit dry.

Always interesting to hear about your plans and trips indie! A couple more bedbug tips: if you put Vaseline or double sided tape round your bed legs it will catch any strays, and if you do wash anything then the hotter the better, both for the wash and the tumble drying. We put all our furniture outside for a while too as it was summer, but that's not really an option now!

Thanks for the Superdrug heads up maman, and if you can try their Baby Skin primer then do give it a go, I think it's great - and cheap as chips too!!
Finally debt free!! March 2018 :j

    Hi ladies:)
Brrr! I suspect everyone is hibernating due to the sudden drop in temperature :rotfl::rotfl: it's freezing!
I got my padded coat - had a good look around and ended up getting a navy, parka style one - ideal for dog walking and days when I go to watch football.
I've also picked up a pair of straight black trousers and a grey, textured "coatigan" - it's actually quite smart - more like a longline jacket really; I've a couple of interviews coming up later in the week, and after feeling so old fashioned when I tried to dress formally for the last one, I've decided to go more smart-casual for these two and will wear the trousers and coatigan with a black thin knit, plain jumper
underneath. I've given a lot of thought to it and I think that will be ok.
If I don't get an offer from either of them then I think I'll stop the job searching for a while and try harder to find some new hobbies or maybe volunteer somewhere locally, as I find the job hunting process so daunting:o I do realise that I'm incredibly fortunate to have the choice so I don't want to sound whiny but it does require a very thick skin at times, which I don't really have.
The diet has stalled a bit - again:( - being slightly immobile last week meant resorting to a couple of takeaways and a bit of comfort eating took place too. Back on track now in an effort to drop a size by Christmas:)
Good to hear from you chanie :)
Hope you're all well, and keeping warm.
  • Hello Laides,

I am finding the cold weather a nuisance. I am still having pain from the cyst and to a lesser extent from my lymph node lump. The cyst continues to weep but it does not smell so awful.

I am really taking it easy but I find that my energy levels are low and everything is a little bit of a struggle. The silver lining is that I am catching up on lots of TV watching and reading of some of my books.

I have gained 2 pounds in weight, but I am so inactive that it is no surprise.

Sorry to hear that you're still being troubled by the cyst, sugarbaby are you still talking the antibiotics?
Hopefully once you can start moving around more comfortably the two pounds will soon come off.
What sort of TV shows do you enjoy?
    Take care of yourself.
