LL thinking of you. I know that you must be so worried about your Dad's health, but you need to take care of your own health as well0
-
Didn't sleep that well....quelle surprise.
What really concerns me is that on TUesday he walked was walking - ok not far, but yesterday he could hardly weight bear to stand.
I dont know how my sister will cope if he can't stand. I remember how tough it was with my husband. My husband was always patient and easy going so that made caring duties much easier. But dad is a totally different kind of animal......
He is impatient and bad tempered at the best of times. He will play up and I know he won't take kindly to being wheelchair bound and needing carers to assist him with bathing etc.
I dont think my sister has realised yet what's in store.
My dad is also very depressed. I suggested counselling and he seemed amenable. I know he wants to see a priest so I spoke to the hospital about that yesterday.
Yes I'm worried about dad, but TBH at nearly 91 I don't expect miracles. My real concern is for my sister. I just hope that social services dont throw her in at the deep end.0 -

Obviously you have huge experience of dealing with Social Services. I'm sure you'll advise her but like sugarbaby says you need to be mindful of your own health as well.
The bedroom is really taking shape. It's a beautiful, bright day today. I've washed one pair of curtains which I'll iron and rehang later, the others will have to wait for another bright day when I have the time. I'm also going to do MK on the 7 drawers that we have in one of the units (well my share at least, it's not for me to decide what OH wants to get rid of). So far I've emptied them and cleaned the drawers. Everything is done now except for painting the windows. DH has put that off as one of them needs a bit of attention to the sash cord so he'll need a good day to take the window out. That just leaves the carpet when it's delivered and a headboard to buy and a mirror I want to put in an alcove to reflect light. I'd consider new bedside cabinets if I could find what I want but as the bed is quite high they'd need to be tallish to be practical or I'd fall out of bed while reaching for my cup of tea!:rotfl:
I'm going to do my meal plan shortly then some food shopping later. It'll be smart casual again.
I did buy some new black jeans yesterday. Only a cheap pair from Asda but they fit well and are in a 'stay black' range they've brought out which I wanted to try.
Hope the sun is shining on all of you.:)0 -
ll I hope you all are okay.
maman I hope the jeans don't fade!!!! Pleased your bedroom is coming on.
I've taken advantage of black friday and think I've done quite well out of it and no impulse purchases. I wasn't holding out for Black Friday, but today is pay day so I thought I'd see if I could save money on the purchases I was going to make anyway.
I bought:
conputet tablets for the children for xmas - saved £60 altogether. I thought I was going to have to pay full price.
handbag I want a new handbag for Xmas (from OH) and saw one which was out of stock online and in many stores. I managed to track down a store which had some and I was delighted to find it was 20% off today.
face cream I have under 1/2 jar left, so popped into the Body Shop for 40% off, as it probably won't be on offer when I run out.
Altogether, I've saved £77, so I'm really pleased.0 -
Sorry to hear about your dad LL, I hope that the news by now is more positive. Like you say at 91 you don't expect a miraculous recovery, but Social Services should at least ensure that he attains the best level of health that he can, and that he has care from outside agencies where necessary.
Your decorating is inspiring me maman, I cleared out a lot of the loft yesterday and have 4 big bags ready for the CS. Some of it was unwanted bits and pieces that otherwise will sit up there forever and a day, and some is clothes that I don't think I'll wear again: work clothes, posh clothes and some that I think now simply look too young for me. I still haven't found a 'style' I like, am living in jeggings, knee boots and floaty tops till I think of something better/ lose weight to fit in some of my other clothes.
I haven't read the thread for a few days as MSE unsubscribed me for some unknown reason, I didn't receive my daily update email so assumed no-one was posting!! Hope everyone is well - I've been busy sorting out Christmas presents (almost there), looking after the boys (another ear infection for DS2, aaarrggghhhh) and trying to calm down OH, who is very stressed about work. We are taking the boys to see Father Christmas tomorrow though which hopefully will take his mind off things:santa2:
Finally debt free!! March 2018 :j0 -
Hello Ladies,
I came home from work yesterday, had a quick bath and got dressed for my date with Wayne.
I wore my black chiffon and velvet phase eight skirt, my sleeveless v neck Kaleidoscope red top with my black Kaleidoscope cardigan. I wore my Van Dal black patent leather slingback shoes and my red patent leather Osprey handbag. I wore my red scarf, my long black leather jacket and my black leather gloves. I painted clear nail polish on my nails and wore clear lip gloss. I layered my perfume with the matching body lotion.
It turned into a much shorter date than I was expecting as after an hour together Wayne suddenly announced that he wanted to leave soon as he had work tomorrow. So after all my effort, it was not much of a night out. I was really annoyed with Wayne, so he did not get a good night kiss.
I am going to the Theatre with my daughter this evening, so I have a good night out ahead of me.
It is dry and cold, but not freezing, so I do not have to wear too many layers tonight, for which I feel thankful.
After I finally got my whole floor at work shining like a new pin, our supervisor decided to change me to another floor. It has the distinction of being the 'dirtiest' floor in the whole building. The previous cleaner for that floor was the supervisor's sister. :rotfl:0 -

Hello everyone.
Just a quick update. Back to the hospital in a minute. Was there Over 5 hours yesterday waiting to see the consultant. I'm shattered and my back is killing me, these hospital chairs are sooooo uncomfortable. :rotfl:
Anyway the news is pretty much as I expected, the consultant said that the anaemia is actually leukaemia (I had already guessed as much) add this to all his other ailments and the prognosis is pretty much what you might expect.
The medics have pretty much run out of options, he is too old for surgery and it really is kinder not to go for the more radical treatments. So it will just be regular blood transfusions and "keeping him comfortable". He is able to weight bear again so can come home. Then we'll take it from there.,
No idea of timescales but I'm guessing it will be his last Christmas.
Hey ho.....here we go again.
I've booked to see three properties next week. Other than that no real news.0 -
LL, I'm so sorry to read this. Please take care of yourself and your boys as you travel this worn-out path again.
Will your dad consider hospice care, or is that a "no-way Jos!" for him?
Big hug from Blackpool
