LL your posts read a bit more upbeat today. Pleased that the transfusions are helping your Dad. Good luck with sorting out the kitchen cupboards.0

... and best of all for me with painful hands and poor grip no soup up the walls from my poor efforts with the stick blender:rotfl::rotfl:
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Hopefully feeling brighter will improve your dad's attitude to blood transfusions LL. I think you're right to stay away at the moment. He's got good care where he is.
My storecupboard got an unexpected tidy up last week. I'd been using cans to prop up the wardrobe doors while I painted them so having taken them all out I put them back in a much more orderly fashion.
I've got a Christmas dinner/dance thing on Friday so will need to do some fabbing this week. I think I've decided to wear my purple lace dress with purple suede Dune heels and sheer tights. My legs are looking OK but I'll do a defuzz later in the week to be sure. My usual beauty shop has closed down (end of lease) so I need to make an appointment somewhere for an eyebrow wax and I'll have the shellac back on now that my nails have had a rest. I'll need to eat very healthily to make sure my dress fits well ( :Ton the trousers ellsbel). It's allegedly a size 8 but I think a 10 is more realistic.
I decided to make a bit of effort for football yesterday so although warmth was priority I did wear a decent wool coat and did my make up. I'm back to wearing foundation/tinted moisturiser and I'm loving my foundation brush. I can't remember exactly where I bought it but it makes a massive difference both to getting light coverage but also using minimal product.
Beautiful, bright day here. Hope the sun's shining on all of you.:)0 -
Beautiful, bright day but very cold here.:)
I've been trying on my party clothes and undecided between my lace dress or my very much more slinky jumpsuit. At least both fit well. I'm thinking maybe the jumpsuit is better. It's a club we're going to with dinner so maybe the dress is a bit staid. Decision!
I've made an appointment for my eyebrow wax. I've taken the clear polish off my nails and I'll feed them well with hand cream and cuticle oil and shape them before getting the shellac done. They're not in bad condition but I think I'll give them another rest in the new year.
I'm having second thoughts about a headboard. As we have a very traditional house and an oak chest in the bedroom then perhaps a wooden headboard would be better. I'm going to take a look before deciding.

Sorry this post is all me, me, me.:o Take care all.0 -
I agree that the jumpsuit sounds perfect for taking you from dinner to club, maman
love the headboard, too.
I'm not looking very fab this morning as I've got my scruffs on:D - just having a coffee break in the middle of a housework blitz, but will fab up in a while and do my hands and feet later.
Have a good day, all.0 -
Ellsbel - Another one is scruff mode doing chores this morning, will have some lunch and then shower and hair wash and smarten myself up, I do feel better when I make an effort (most days).
Maman - a vote for the jumpsuit from me too:D Shelac really does not suit my nails and they need a lot o work, but I love the effect and only have it done 2 or 3 times a year. My head board is pretty much the same, but in a medium pine, I really like it and would buy the same again.
LL - I hope that both you and your sister have managed some "me time" while your father has been in hospital. I'm afraid I am severely lacking in patience with empty glass people and would make a rubbish nurse with family members. My own mother had been complaining about her pains for weeks and weeks, on numerous occasions I suggested a visit to Gp to get meds re-assessded, but she wouldn't do it, eventually she did go, saw a lovely Doc who changed her meds and she now get many more good days than bad ones (beats head against wall whilst smiling encouragingly):mad:The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. Good evening ladies, did you all have a good day?
I need to catch up with the posts, but I just wanted to say,
Twinnie and Greenbee, so sorry to read about your parents ((hugs))
My mother had leukemia many many years ago.
What are the Dr's doing about your internal bleeding LL ?
My DH had this problem last year and because DH was not showing any symptoms it was not diagnosed until a routine blood test showed his blood levels had dropped to a dangerous level. He has now made a full recovery:j
xx0 -
Carmen......dad's internal bleeding. Not mine,:rotfl:
He has been diagnosed with leukaemia. Not sure if that was the cause of the bleed but it is one of the symptoms. He was also taking warfarin so that also might have been a contributory factor.
Anyway his only "treatment" will be regular blood transfusions. Chemo and bone marrow treatments aren't really appropriate now. He is too old and too frail.
So basically we are looking at palliative care rather than active treatments iyswim.
Anyway he's home now for the time being. There will come a point when we need to think about nursing homes or a hospice to provide good end of life care. He will have very complex needs and will need good Pain relief.
I don't know how long he has, I'm guessing months not years. I'm not sure my sister fully grasps the implications of dad's diagnosis and TBH forward planning and strategic thinking are not her strong points.
When I mentioned pain relief to her she didn't seem to think it was an issue.....she equates leukaemia awith anaemia and she thinks it's just about tiredness.......
When I also mention the need to think about keeping him comfortable and end of life care she just blanks it out...bless her she can be something of an ostrich at times.
Guess who will be "the bad daughter" again ......
The point is she wanted him to live with her so she has to take these things on board. She really didn't think it through.
Yes they had an extension built and a downstairs shower room, but they are not particularly wheelchair friendly so once he is no longer able to weight bear it's going to be nigh on impossible to keep him at home.
Hey ho.
But.....excellent news that your DH is fully recovered.0 -
Hello Ladies,
I am having to work really hard at my job at the moment, as I can not bear to see my 'new' floor I have to clean so disgustingly dirty. Even after 3 days I have made a significant difference in getting the rooms and other areas clean. We had a visit from our Manager on Tuesday and she thanked me for leaving the previous floor I used to clean 'absolutely immaculate'. She also said they appreciated my hard work. Funny how my reward for my hard work was to be moved to the dirtiest floor in the building. :rotfl:
Wayne is continuing to be a disappointment, so I am not really allowing his behaviour to affect my enjoyment of my own life. We have less contact as time goes by, so we are naturally drifting apart.
I am so excited by the prospect of seeing Alexandra Burke in Sister Act at the New Wimbledon Theatre on Saturday evening. A treat for myself. I actually paid full price for my ticket, because I could not find any tickets being offered at a discount when I was booking my ticket. :rotfl:0 -

 Full Price?? Whatever next??:rotfl:
I'm not surprised they've asked you to sort out this new floor sugarbaby. They obviously value the quality of your work. What is infuriating is that the management is prepared to put up with shoddy work from others especially family members!
I suspected Wayne was up to his old tricks when he cut your date short the other day. I think you've got the right attitude not letting him dominate your life.
We're off to the cinema later to see A United Kingdom and then a cheap meal in Wetherspoons so a pleasant evening out. It's bright but very cold here so it'll be warm but smart in my choice of outfits. I'm thinking straight jeans, ankle boots, smart purple long jumper, my Dr Who style purple stripey scarf, black quilted jacket and make up to brighten up my winter face.
Yesterday I spent more than an hour in Dunelm!:rotfl:It's a shop I go to rarely so I took the opportunity for a good look round as well as the things I needed. It's the sort of shop IMO (and The Range is another I visit occasionally) where you have to wade through loads of tat to find a few nice bits and pieces. I went for new curtain poles, mattress cover and valance but also bought some plain pillow cases (some of mine are a bit tired) and a grapefruit diffuser refill.
DH repaired the sash cords yesterday which necessitated taking the window out on one of the coldest days of the year! Today we're going to go via John Lewis and make a final decision on the headboard. I've just got a cloth to make (work in progress) for the breakfast table and the windows to paint and most of it will be done. The bedroom is looking amazingly bright but it won't look finished until the new carpet is fitted.
Thanks for the advice on party wear. I think you're right and the jumpsuit is more suitable. Tomorrow I'm getting my nails and eyebrows done. My hairdresser doesn't work Fridays so I'll have to do my own hair but I have an appointment for next Saturday when I'm off to a Christmas dance.
I'm pleased I've managed to keep up with all the fabbing right through the first part of the winter. This thread is great for developing good habits.:A0 -
Sugar I agree with maman, in that your employer must value you if they moved you, but its annoying when you get given the 'dirty' floor just because you are good at what you do.
Maman I love Dunelm Mills too, we had a store open about a year ago. We bought the curtain poles and curtains for our living room from Dunelm and I'm very pleased with them. We now want to buy some new bedding to match our new bedroom and I'm thinking of getting it from Dunelm as they have a large selection. Although it won't be until the new year now!!!0
