Good to see you PQ. Hope all goes well with the Op.:)

ellsbel, I know the Prado is the most famous gallery in Madrid but we really enjoyed the Thyssen-Bornemisza which is nearby. It has the collection laid out as Art through the Ages so you can see how subject, style and technique developed.

Not sure how much time you'll have in Berlin LL but I liked it very much including the former East German part. Maybe best to go on a guided tour if you only have a short visit.

Dancing tonight, the last class before Christmas although I am going to a dance on Saturday. Tonight I'm planning to wear my grey velvet skirt with a long purple jumper and opaques. The hall isn't the warmest so I might take a cardi and scarf as well!

I'm enjoying the house fabbing tales as well. No decs up here yet but I have bought a wreath for the front door in readiness.

Good luck PQ. hope all goes well.

Foggy and cold, this morning. Off to Physio in a bit and then A few final bits of Christmas shopping.

Will need to wrap up warm. ;). Good job I bought some new knitwear.....winter is here!!!
  • Hello Ladies,

I am feeling a lot better. Chest has really improved and I am not coughing any more. :)

I went Karaoke on Sunday evening and combined it with a date with Wayne. He managed to almost stay by my side for the whole evening, but he was distracted by a round of Snooker in the world championship. ;)

I had a good time with Wayne, but I did not have a chance to talk about any serious issues with him. We did discuss Christmas and he is still saying that he does not want me to buy him Christmas presents. How money saving for me! :rotfl:

I wore a red short sleeved Wallis top with diamante embellishment and a cut out back, my black Kaleidoscope cardigan, a pull on black flared skirt and my black leather ankle boots. I wore my long black leather jacket, black leather gloves and my black scarf. I had my red calf skin handbag, I layered my perfume and wore black mascara and bronze eye shadow.

I have lost 2 pounds in weight in a week. Yeah!!!! :j

    Morning fabbers.
    Glad you're feeling better sugar.
PQ wishing you a speedy recovery from your op.

Thanks for all the input on Madrid. Maman, I've made a note of the Thyssen-Bornemisza as a place to visit, thanks:) LL, unfortunately I've had to book for the back end of February as it's one of the few times that all 4 of us can be off together- youngest is still in his last year at school so needs to be in school holidays, and eldest is doing his work placement year and is saving a lot of his leave for a big summer holiday with his pals before returning to university next year! We'll have to wrap up very warm and hope it doesn't snow!! Hopefully they'll be pleased with the surprise:)
I had plans to finish Christmas present buying today but I'm needed to collect DS2 from school mid morning so I'll push the shopping back to tomorrow.
I've a coffee "date" later this afternoon and am finding myself pushed for things to wear lately so I really must fit in time for a wardrobe kondo and a planning session on creating some new looks!
    Have a good day all.

While I don't follow snooker closely sugarbaby I can forgive Wayne for wanting to watch Sunday's match. I think it was the final of the world championship.:)

I went to Madrid in November ellsbel and provided you take he right clothes there wont be a problem. I remember watching them putting up the Christmas decorations late at night from my hotel balcony, very festive. We ate here at what is meant to be the oldest restaurant in the world. It's just down some steps in the corner of the Plaza Mayor. Good experience.

There's also a lovely park called the Retiro which is good for blowing away cobwebs!

Headboard arrived last night and is being fitted this morning along with new valance (Dunelm) and mattress cover. I'm planning to sit quietly later and get on with the cloth for the breakfast table. I have a set of new bedding but I think I'll keep that for Christmas and just use white at the moment.

I agree about shortage of outfits. I have two or three 'good' jumpers that I can wear out for lunch and very woolly ones that are great if I'm going to be out in the freezing cold like football or walking. I need something in between that I don't mind wearing around the house. I've been managing with long sleeved tops and a woolly waistcoat.

I'm hoping to fit a visit to a NT property in before Christmas. It's pleasing that they now open up in the winter. Our local one is good but I'd like to get down to Dorset if I can fit it in.

Ellsbel.....end of February for Madrid should be ok. It should start warming up a bit by then. January and early Feb are the worst but even then it's a dry crisp cold, often with bright sunny days.

So yes just dress right and you will be fine. Rember the old saying, there's no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothes.:rotfl:

I actually prefer cooler weather when sightseeing, if it's too hot it's not much fun slogging round the city.

I was given some lovely jumpers by a friend of my sister, she has out weight on and can't wear them. They are like new. I wouldn't have chosen any of them myself but as freebies they are fine for casual everyday wear.

A lot brighter here today. I gave a poorly tummy today so just being quiet and resting. I need to nip to the local shop - forgot to get meat out of the freezer......

Don't suppose they will have anything exciting. I will probably need to be imaginative with mince. :D

I am going renew my Natty Trust membership too. There are loads more open at Christmas these days.

Fabbed up today for craft group annual lunch, lovely food in a country pub about 12 miles from home, about 25 of us, many from another meeting day who I had not met before, which was nice. Wore navy blue fitted wool dress with navy pashmina, red tights, boots, long necklace and waterfall Ted Baker (CS) cardigan. I have another lunch to go to tomorrow, it will be a bit of a rush as I do not want to cancel my PT session, so will cut it short and have some trousers, top etc ready to wear after a quick shower. This is the annual lunch for a more sporty group and will be quite casual in dress.

LL - sorry about your poorly tum, hope you feel better soon. Free sweaters sound good though.

Maman - ashamed to say that when we lived in West Dorset for 30 years we only visited Kingston Lacy once, just to see the snowdrops, it was on a clear cold sunny day and very enjoyable.

Ellsbel - what a lovely idea to give your family a surprise break in Madrid, I do not do well when the temperatures are high, but am quite happy to wrap up in my down coat etc and enjoy the quieter winter breaks.

sugarbaby - So pleased that you are feeling brighter, well done on the weight loss. It is good that your employers value your work, but not very fair that others should get away with such shoddy work and you have to graft so hard to make the floor clean and shiny.

Chanie - new sofas sound great, I am sure you will get much pleasure from them.

pirateyqueen - I hope that your Op has gone well and that you do not get too much pain/discomfort.

  • Indie...dinner with gardeners!!!! ....I thought we were about to have a Lady Chatterly moment there.:rotfl:

I know, have mentioned it to a couple of people and it always sounds so much more gossip worthy than it is, have to quickly explain it's not quite how it sounds.

Having another busy week but am pleased I managed a bit of batch cooking on Monday, carrot and coriander soup, bolognese sauce and roast mediterranean vegetable, so I took soup and some veg to work for lunch and had the bolognese for dinner, both MSE and healthier as kept me from buying lunch out and getting tempted by crisps and cake or getting take out when I got home.

Well done on the batch cooking indie.:T I'm trying hard to eat really healthily on the days between Christmas festivities. It's not so much the meals but the nibbles that get to me. My meal out last Friday was good (smoked salmon and baked cod with veg) until I started on the cheeseboard!:rotfl:

Next meal out is tomorrow for a smart lunch and then a dance on Saturday with a nibbly buffet. Yet to decide on outfits.:)

I love the sound of the red tights with the navy outfit Maddie. Good to hear you have a Ted Baker buy from the CS and LL with her hand me downs. Very mse.:money:I was lucky in our local Cancer shop at the weekend. They had a £1 sale and I got a cap sleeved, navy and white striped French Connection tee shirt and a Dotty P Aran style waistcoat. The top is similar to my Breton ones but without the sleeves, the waistcoat is for indoors to save my (full price) White Stuff one.

I've been to Kingston Lacy for the snowdrops too Maddie, they're spectacular but house wasn't open. When I visited the house my BIL was with us and he felt unwell so we had to cut the visit short so this time it'll be good to look around inside and see the house decked for Christmas.

My face is looking very dry at the moment so I've been giving it a bit of TLC. I think it's being indoors with heating on and the cold winds we had last week. It's particularly noticeable below my eyes. I've put serum on today and plenty of moisturiser. My serum is a Clarins treat but when it's gone I'll definitely try the Aldi.

Dull but mild here. We've got football tonight so it'll be smart casual and I don't think I'll be needing the thermal trousers!:rotfl:

"Hand me downs". Ha ha - haven't heard that one for ages. Makes me feel like Orphan Annie. Great CS bargains there though ladies. Haven't been CS shopping in a while.

PQ. hope the op went well and that you Arent in too much pain. Keep warm and cosy and lots of rest.

Thankfully my tummy feels a bit better today. Off to the hospital later, no idea how long I will be so have a bolgonese sauce bubbling away in ththe slow Cooker so nice and easy when I get home.

Still not found my address book so will have to hit the phones tonight. Luckily most of the numbers are in my mobile and others I can just email.

I really must get better organised next year. At least I've got the Christmas meats in the freezer and I have bought all the gifts.

DS2 off tomorrow so will go and get a teee. I think we might need new lights so I'll dig them out tonight to check.

    ..........the countdown begins.

Soon be the solstice and then the days will start drawing out again, it wil be spring again before we know it.

Had a turn round the garden yesterday. Loads of buds on the trees and shrubs.
