I am planning on going to the Cinema today as I have a free ticket left and there are 2 films showing that I would like to watch. I will decide this morning which film I prefer to watch. It is a shame that the weather is so rainy, but we all just have to get on with our lives despite the heavy downpours.

I don't know if you intended it sugarbaby (probably did knowing your way with words) but that sentence is so full of meaning. It's me me feel so positive along with the Bear Grylls quote from shandy.

I'm fancying a film called A United Kingdom which I think comes out later in the week. It's basically a story about class and race set in the 50s when the soon to be King of Botswana fell in love with a London office worker. It's based on a true story.

Shame about the Indian restaurant. Why accept your booking when they obviously weren't ready for you?

I've been doing a bit of fabbing this morning. I gave a first coat to the last four doors so they'll be finished tomorrow. Then I had my shower and slather. I'm out for a pub meal later. Planning to wear black jeans (scruffy but just about acceptable) and ankle boots. Not sure what to wear on top yet but maybe a jumper as it's a bit cold for long sleeved t shirt.

I actually enjoy turkey at Christmas. It's the only time we have it in the whole year and I like the dryness. Isn't that why gravy and pickles were invented?:D

Although we've made changes with gift buying, we still stick to many family traditions. Sometimes I fancy a change (like going away?) but I think the family would be disappointed. I prep as much as I can on Christmas Eve (listening to 9 lessons and carols on the radio) then on Christmas Day it's just a case of putting everything in the oven/hob at the right time. I use a timer to call me back from the sitting room when needed and have copious amounts of champagne to help. I find it's only about the last 15 mins I have to stay in the kitchen. DH carves and family ferry all the serving dishes to the dining room as I fill them up. Once we've sat down that's the last thing I do for the day. DD1 fetches the pudding and heats up custard as she likes it more than the cream I have. Everyone but me does the washing up!:xmassmile

My ma is elderly and not very mobile, she likes to be taken out very occasionally for a treat, but much prefers to spend Christmas Day in her own home. When we lived in the south she always welcomed OH, me and the 2 dogs and loved catering for a houseful (brought up 4 children). My sis stepped in last year when I was so poorly, but this year we will again be doing lunch and tea for the 3 of us at her home. (My siblings all have their own children and grandchildren to spend time with, but they will all call in over the holiday) Her ancient and little used bottle gas cooker terrifies me:eek:, so a lot will be pre-prepared and pre-cooked here and I will take the halogen oven over. Wish me luck and pray for no snow in the 15 mile corridor there please:rotfl:

Going to have turkey crown and all the trimmings, and there must be a HM trifle for OH at tea time:D, I am hoping to make a Christmas cake soon, but it rarely gets cut on the day anymore. I will not be aiming to win any prizes for hostess with the mostest and am more than happy to have a little help from some pre-prepared goodies.

I may save wearing my lovely bright red dress until boxing day, less likely to get splashed with fat etc.

Ooh I am getting all excited for Christmas now......but before then we are having a family lunch with the whole gang ........just because........this coming Sunday at one of my favourite restaurants. Very upmarket chic French bistro.

Actually I say the whole gang. Dad is currently on his way to hospital - I'm just waiting for my sister to call and let me know what's happening. I'll probably pop over in a bit.

He's been unwell for a while now but I think it's starting to escalate. Sounds like there is some internal bleeding so not looking too good......

Just back from Physio so resting for a bit before I go to hospital.

LL - I hope that the news is better by the time that you get to the hospital.

Big hugs to all those that need them:)

  • Hello Ladies,

LL I hope that your Dad will get the treatment that he needs in Hospital in a timely manner.

Maman I always feel that I have to concentrate on all the aspects in my life that are positive despite all of the family deaths and other negative family events that have happened. I am always trying to refill my glass with positive experiences and am always reminding myself to be thankful for having a supportive family and friends. :)

When it comes to Christmas dinner, I am happy to buy prepared food and save myself time in the kitchen. Tesco and M & S do me proud each year for all of my Christmas food and drink. :T

I just received my £10 Tesco money card by post today. :)

I bought my new vacuum cleaner today from Argos via Quidco as I qualified for a £10 bonus as well as the normal cashback. :T It had over 100 5 * reviews from verified customers, so it should do the trick. It was less than £45 including the delivery charge so was a real bargain buy. I did not wait for any Black Friday deal, as I was reminded in an email from Which Campaigns that in reality the vast majority of the sale prices on Black Friday are not the great deals that they seem to be. In fact lots of these so called bargains are actually not a bargain at all and will be cheaper to purchase after Black Friday.

I went to see 'A Street Cat named Bob' yesterday and loved it so much I came home and bought the book of the same name on eBay. :D It is a very entertaining film even though the themes in the film are quite dark. There is enough humour though to balance the serious issues being explored.

My cyst is definitely a sebaceous cyst. The report from my ultrasound scan will go to my G.P and he will then have to make an appointment for me to have the 'sac' for the cyst surgically removed at my local Hospital otherwise it will just grow back.

I went on a date with Wayne to my local pub. I had a really fun time with him and we continue to talk to each other. He has realised that we do not have to make plans to get married, but the relationship does have to develop or it will just stagnate. He also understands that he needs to be attentive on our dates and not be offhand or careless of my expectations and feelings. The majority of my social time is still going to be spent with my children either at home or going out as even though my daughter is 24 and my son 16, they are still adjusting to a man being in my life and their needs still come first with me.

I made sure that Wayne understands why I will not be able to celebrate Christmas with him, so we will exchange presents on a special date on the weekend before Christmas. He is adamant that I should not bother to buy him any presents as he does not expect any presents from me, so I will buy some inexpensive, thoughtful gifts for him as I also know that he will be really pleased to receive presents from me. He said the same thing as regards birthday presents from me, but his delight and pleasure was awesome and so touching to see, as he opened all of his birthday gifts from me.

I'm glad you're enjoying Wayne's company sugarbaby. It'll be a case of take it as it comes and, of course, you're right he shouldn't be expecting you to rush into marriage or any long term commitments at the moment. Just enjoy what you have together.:)

I've finished painting the wardrobe doors. DH has given the framework a first coat so they should all be back together soon. I find it better taking the doors off and painting them flat then there are no drips. I've also ordered a carpet, sort of oatmeal colour, hoping it comes soon or rather that fitters won't be too busy so fingers crossed there. I also bought some gingham for a tablecloth. It's coming together albeit slowly.

What news of your dad LL?
  • Good morning lovely ladies.......

    Just a quickie..

Dad had an emergency blood transfusion yesterday. I meet with his consultant today. Will know more then. He's in good spirits, lots of visitors so he's quite chirpy.

I'm shattered but at least I slept better last night. Very stiff this morning so Just going to have a soak the bath to loosen up and then do some simple yoga.

Will sling a casserole in the slow cooker before heading off to the hospital so at least dinner will be ready when I get home.
  • Quick update.....

Dad not too good. Blood transfusion didn't really help. Didntvsee consultant. Tests weren't back. Hopefully tomorrow.

Sugarbaby - I fancy seeing Streetcat Named Bob. Glad your cyst is non malignant. Hopefully you won't have to wait too long for surgery.

MAman. Your bedroom sounds like it will be lovely.

I picked up a chandelier in a charity shop the other day. Brand new for £10. It will go in my bedroom.
