maman I use coconut oil on my feet. I find oils more absorbent that most creams.

Better go and pick DS up from school. My handbrake isn't working, so I'll have to walk.

Thanks chanie I've got some creams to use up then I'll think about coconut oil. When do you use it? I think the reason I don't look after my feet is because it's not convenient to have greasy feet when I'm about to put my shoes on/go out.

Still wearing summer clothes but really need to look through wardrobe ready for winter.

maman you can use any oil on your feet, but I tend to use mine before I go to bed, so I don't get the oil everywhere.

My mum gave me a generous amount of money for my birthday. She wants me to buy clothes. She is quite glam whereas I'm more casual but I try and dress for my shape, so my wardrobe is more casual and less fussy.

So far, I've bought a coat and a skirt from Next, which I picked up yesterday. I'm going to hang onto the rest of the money until I see something that 'sparks joy', possibly a more expensive item.

Both items I've bought are green. It's a colour I love and there seems to be lots of green in the shops at the moment. The coat is needed, as I have to replace the cost I bought last year in the Summer sales, as the zip has popped on it. The quality of the coat wasn't brilliant, but I expected it to last two winters before I needed to replace it. Luckily, I only paid £30 for it, so it's not the end of the world.

maman - I put coconut oil on my feet before bed, and then put a pair of cotton socks on to help them cook :) It also works during the day if you're just wandering round the house. They don't stay greasy for long.

Morning ladies. Hope you all had a good weekend.
I like using coconut oil but haven't thought to use it on my feet, like you maman, I like foot cream to absorb quickly. That's a good tip, though, greenbee, and I'll try that tonight.
Legomum what sort of foods do you eat on fast days, if you don't mind me asking? I'm starting 5:2 this week - aiming for Tuesday and Thursday as fast days - just need to plan out what to eat on those days.
Nothing much to report here; still feeling a bit poorly and wiped out, so today I'll tackle some household chores but take my time over them. I do need to pop to the shops at some point, so will shower and dress in a bit - looks like a warm day so I'll wear linen trousers and a longline short sleeved top.
Quite a busy week ahead after today but I want to find time to clear my wardrobe out again as it's creeping back to becoming overstuffed!
    Have a good day all:)

Hi ladies, thank you for all your good wishes for the wedding on Saturday, everything went wonderfully well, the dessert cakes were all eaten, lots of the tissue flowers were used as buttonholes & hair adornments all night, the bride looked beautiful and I am now exhausted!

  • Good morning lovely ladies...

Hope you've all had a good weekend.

Floss glad the wedding went so well.

Well now friend came to stay for a few days and we had a lovely time. We did indulge I some retail therapy and I bought a few long sleeve tops and some fine gauge knitwear. So really that's my wardrobe pretty much complete now.

Re the house.....bad news. I am backing out. There were a few too, many compromises I'm afraid. I met with the the vendor in Saturday and she confirmed a few issues that were niggling me.

Hey ho. I'll find "the one". My son is happy for me to remain here so I'm in no really hurry.

    Right......now it's down to business.

I am lugging far too much weight around, I feel constantly exhausted, my back, neck and knees ache constantly and my blood sugar levels are probably far too high.

So........I need to pull my finger out.

I too, shall be starting The 5:2 - I think I will aim for Tuesday's and Thursdays. So Elsbel I will join you if I may. I need to think about suitable meals for those days too.

I have also ordered a blood sugar monitor.

I did look at the blood sugar diet - but at 800 calls a day I just don't think I could manage it. The author Dr Michael Mosely suggests that if that is too strict then adopting the 5:2 and then the rest of the time eating a sensible Mediterranean style diet should be enough to bring sugar levels down.

I really need to do this. I saw what diabetes did to my mother. I am not going there if I can avoid it.

So. Today it begins in earnest. Sensible eating and more exercise. I have been such a sloth. :(. It's got to stop.

I will report every day and you must kick me up the derrière if I falter.

That's a job I must tackle too ellsbel but it doesn't seem quite so urgent as it's still summer here!:D Mine isn't so much overstuffed but I know there are things that I just never wear. I need to cull the summer clothes before putting them away for the winter. Then I need to look at winter clothes and decide where the gaps are. Same with the foot cream/oil. I'll think about putting it on at night but it will be easier when I'm back to wearing socks around the house.

Sorry to hear about the house LL but you're right to hang out for exactly what you want. It'll happen.

I have friends who lost weight very successfully on 5:2 and they found choosing fast days when they were really busy suited them best as then you're not at home thinking about your next meal. Mostly they ate very light all day (fruit then soup/salad seemed to be a favourite) then used most of the calories for dinner. Veggie food seems to be the lowest in calories and very healthy too.

I've been busy doing some home/garden fabbing as decided to wash the sofa covers while I can guarantee line drying. They're not particularly dirty but I know they're sorted now for the winter. Last set of cushions on the line already. It's the ironing that's a faff.:(

I've also started planting up some bulbs in pots to look cheery in the spring. I decided to try what's called 'bulb lasagne' planting various bulbs in layers to bloom at different times. I decided to top them off with pansies/violas or primulas so the pots don't look bare. I did two large ones yesterday but need to get some more daffs before I can finish.

I'm just having a break before tackling the ironing. Nothing much else on today but dance class starts back tonight so routine starting to fall into place.
  • Maman. Thanks for the tips about 5:2. Yes I'm sure you're right......vegetarian might be the way to go on those days.

I think tonight I will pull out the recipe books. I did buy a Paleo vegetarian book......yes there really is such a thing :rotfl:. The recipes do look nice.

I also bought the low blood sugar diet book so can maybe look at those too.

So "Mrs G what kind of diet will you will be following"

"Well Dr, it is a fusion of Paleo/veggie/5:2/Mediterranean and low blood sugar". :rotfl:

Hopefully, not quite as complicated as it sounds:D

Basically 2 days of fasting and then meat, fish, vegetables, Salads, small amount of dairy. I will skip fruit until the blood sugar levels are down.

Today I aim to just eat healthily and increase my water intake.

^^ This, I plan my fast days in when I'm really busy anyway. And I generally eat just soup and salad - I can have it preprepared and then I don't need to think about food at all.
My main tip is to drink lots of water, even if you don't feel very thirsty.
