Maman I'm the opposite, I do most of my shopping in Lidl - there are 3 Lidl's on the same stretch of road, but not many Aldi stores. My children always insist we go to Lidl (for the doughnuts and more recently, the Stickeez).
Thanks for the tip on the wine, I'll definitely give it a try, when I'm next in Aldi.
  • Hello Ladies,

I am feeling much better today. Just a slight cold, so almost recovered. :)

My daughter, son and grandson and I went to my great nephew's 1st birthday party yesterday and we had a really good time and good food. :D

I did not have anything to drink, as there was no bottled water available and tap water makes me ill. :(

I was wearing my white, navy and green v neck, sleeveless Kaleidoscope dress, with my Navy Van Dal sling back shoes and my navy with white trim raincoat. I was carrying my navy Osprey leather bag and wore solid gold jewellery with my gold plated Tissot watch. I was wearing black mascara, navy eye shadow, clear lip gloss and clear nail polish and I layered my perfume.

I received a few compliments from female relatives about my outfit, which was very gratifying. :D

I then went straight from the party to Karaoke. There were not many singers this week, so I ended up singing 4 songs. I had lots of fun and danced a lot. Wayne turned up late in the evening, he tried to talk to me and buy me a drink. I just said no and turned my body around on my bar stool, so that he would get the message loud and clear, so he slunk off again and did not bother me anymore.

I have moved on, the sooner he does, the better for him.

I'm loving all the tips on shopping - I almost look forward to the grocery shop this week! (will definitely look for that wine, maman:))
Your outfit sounds very elegant, Sugarbaby - glad you're feeling better:)
Still feeling so tired today; it seems to really affect me these days if I have a few nights of broken sleep - and I thought we were supposed to need less as we get older!!
So I've had a short walk and a bit of a tidy round but not much else today.
I'll have an early night tonight and hopefully I should have a bit more energy tomorrow - I'm off to a concert tomorrow evening so need to think about what to wear for that; probably jeans and a smart top, but I'm getting tired of wearing jeans, to be honest, so as the weight comes off I'm going to rethink my wardrobe a bit:)

    Well here's my news.....

Yesterday i was cooking dinner - around 4.45. Heard a noise upstairs thought it was DS2 home early from work. I had left the door unlocked expecting him home any time.

Called out, no answer. Went out into the hall to be confronted with an intruder on the landing. He shot downstairs and out of the door. I managed to step out of his way, making no attempt to apprehend him.

Yes we have been burgled. A few bits of costume jewellery, but my sons iPad and his good camera and a lot of highly specialised lenses.

The police and the insurance company have been brilliant. I am ok, not hurt. Yesterday I felt a bit shaken today I just feel drained.

Hey ho. It's only "stuff" and no one was hurt so, "alls well, that ends well"

The police and insurance company commended me for keeping a cool head and staying calm.

Although a bit unnerving (to say the least) it could have been a lot worse. Once again I have escaped lightly and unscathed.

I think the Angels must be watching over me (or my late husband).

So sorry LL, and so angry on your behalf:mad: I really think that people who help themselves to things that others have worked for are the lowest of the low.
Having been burgled in the past, I know how low and violated it can make you feel, and to have actually caught him in the act must have been pretty shocking, even if you did manage to stay calm...please take care of yourself; coming shortly after your car accident this was something you really didn't need. Do give yourself some TLC x
  • LL Sorry to read your news - such a terrible thing to happen. :(
A good life is when you assume nothing, do more, need less, smile often, dream big, laugh a lot, and realise how blessed you are.

Sorry to hear about the burglary LL. Hope you're not too shaken by it all. Glad it's all insured and replaceable and nothing precious taken. :)

A bit too eventful at the moment.........:rotfl:

I have had two narrow escapes in the past few weeks but I have come through unscathed, safe and sound.......the Angels are definitely watching over me.

Well now.....heres one more event to add. This one is a really nice one.

As you know I went on my first ever solo holiday last year. I met some nice people and have stayed in touch with a couple of single ladies.

Anyway I have just booked a trip for 2018.......- 6 week cruise to Brazil:j:j:j. I will be sharing a cabin with one of the ladies I met so it's not quite so jaw droppingly extravagant as it sounds. It's still a fair bit of money, obviously, so I shall be upping the "frugal living" stakes. :rotfl:

The replacement car will definitely be going on the back burner;).

I have a friend coming tomorrow to stay for a few days so today I need to knuckle down and blitz the house in readiness.

I have been sorting out some cupboards again and have some bags for the chazza. DS2 has been going through his stuff too and has a car load already.

I need to rejig the kitchen. I am going to order some "magic corners" for a couple of the corner base units and have a good sort out. That wil have to wait until next week though after my friend has gone back.

We also need to beef up security too. My door is firmly locked today - after the event.:rotfl:

Right time to get cracking, this house won't clean itself.......I wish.

Hello,Lego mum. A warm welcome to you. I take it your children are into Lego. My eldest boy is 32 and still loves Lego......

    You've made a great start.

    Onwards and upwards.

I am just about to have a nice soak in the bath to losen up a bit and then try and do some yoga. Physio tonight.

Sun shining brightly, hopefully I am going to get in the garden with a good book this afternoon. Currently reading Bill Bryson, the travel writer. I enjoy his books.

Anyone watching Queen Victoria and Poldark. I also need to catch up on Cold Feet which started up again last. I used to love that.

Nice to have a bit of decent TV now that the nights are starting to draw in again.
  • LL it is good to see that you are already sounding like your normal self in your last post.

I love how you have chosen to be positive about the 2 traumatic events that have happened to you in the last few weeks. You are focusing on the future rather than your recent past, so this is why you can look forward to your friend's visit and your luxuriant cruise to Brazil in 2018. I really admire this ability of yours to move forward so quickly after events that would leave other people a complete nervous wreck.

I hope that there will not be any negative after effects for you or your family after the burglary. I am glad you were able to stay calm when you realised that there was an intruder in your home and did not feel the need to try and apprehend this person on your own. Please take good care of yourself and your own needs.

I am recording and watching Victoria and am recording Poldark and Cold Feet.
