sugar I'm sad that things didn't work out with wayne, but as maman said, I'm not entirely surprised. You have a fab life without him and its totally his loss.

carol someone recommended Sainsbury leggings (the £10 ones, not the ones that come in a double pack). I have a pair and they are a lovely thick material and they've washed really well. I believe Sainsbury may be doing another 25% off towards the end of September, in case you are interested.

I was interviewing at work today, so I made the effort. I'm really motivated to grow my hair now. It's nearing my shoulders now, but it's curly, so it takes ages to get to a decent length. Since I've stopped using sulphates on my hair, it's much less frizzy, so I think it will look nice.

Can I ask those of you who wear leggings on a regular basis the best place to get them? Fancy the tunic, leggings, boots look for this autumn and never bought leggings before. Thanks.

The £6 asda ones rather than thr 2 for £10 ones are good and keep their shape well while sucking everything in.

  • Hi Ladies,

LL you absolutely cracked me up. I was bent over laughing. You have such a way with words. I was single and celibate for years before Wayne and so much happier, so I heartily agree with 'better no man than the wrong one' :rotfl: I will just go back to being an incorrigible flirt for now and see if Mr Right comes along :D

Maman I knew Wayne did not take me to the Christening because he wanted to spite me for daring to go to 'Birmingham to party' without him. He got jealous over me going to Birmingham to see my 2 sisters and that we all went to the Beres Hammond Concert. He would not accept that I was not partying and dancing with other men. I would only explain the difference between partying and going to a Concert once, before I was bored of the subject and his infantile jealousy. I have never found jealousy in anyone an attractive personality trait. Wayne flashed his cash, because he felt that way he could control me and also make me rely on him. He was in for a rude surprise! He soon realised that it was impossible to control me. I like being my own person far too much!!!

Thanks for the compliment about my writing skills Maman, but I would never have the confidence to try to be a writer except for my own pleasure, the way I do now. :)

I am feeling relieved that my relationship with Wayne has ended. He was beginning to irritate me more and more with his sexist views and his trying to persuade me to get engaged to him, when we were only starting to get to know each other. When he was in Jamaica, I warned my daughter and son that they would never meet him as I did not feel he was 'Mr Right', only 'Mr Right Now'.

I have so much more time to call my own now, and more time to spend with my son and daughter who I really like, not just love deeply. I made a lovely roast dinner from scratch with healthy skin on roast potatoes with lashings of gravy and plenty of vegetables and we really enjoyed it. I can now make a lot more meals myself, as I will not be dining out with Wayne. I will be using up all of my Groupon restaurant vouchers with my daughter in the coming weeks. I also have Nectar vouchers for Pizza Express and 1 Tesco clubcard voucher worth £20 for food at Pizza Express to use up and we are both looking forward to visiting all of these restaurant for relaxed, enjoyable meals. :D

I have finally finished doing the 'deep clean' at work and the ache in my back is testament to how hard working I am. I am returning to my normal working hours from tomorrow. ;)

Take care Ladies and Goodnight :)

Hi ladies, and thanks for the anniversary wishes:) we had a low key, but lovely day.
Sugarbaby I'm sorry Wayne didn't turn out to be The One, but that was incredibly rude of him to disappear in the middle of a date like that - unforgivably so, in my view, and incredibly immature; I think you've made the right decision and it's his loss.
I hope those of you with aches and pains find some relief soon. I love reading about what everyone has been up to.
Chanie it's the shoulder length stage of growing out hair that often needs the most perseverance, isn't it?! Long and curly will look lovely though:)
I'm going to pop into my hairdressers later to book an appointment - I'll be up that way to meet a friend for coffee - I'm doing the opposite to you and going a bit shorter though!
OH is still off work so it's taking me longer than usual to get organised - I don't know why this is the case; probably because there's someone around to sit and chat to, so I delay getting ready and getting on with things! It seems a little cooler today, so I'll probably plump for a long sleeved Tee and linen trousers after I've bathed and moisturised.
Best stir myself! Have a good day, all:)

I love the idea of 'Mr Right Now ' far better and more fun than rushing into long term commitment. Enjoy!
Not sure all those meals will be good for the waistline Sugarbaby but I'm sure you'll have a great time.

Cooler here too ellsbell. I'm doing Fab Friday too. Although I will fit a foodshop in somewhere DH wants to go to an auction house. No doubt his plan is to look at antiquarian maps (one of his passions) but I'm going for the ride and I find we talk more when we're out and about.
I'm wearing a darkish green patterned heavy cotton skirt with a green little cardi and a white top to lighten it up. I'm going to wear my fitflops again as I'm enjoying them.
    Have a good day everyone.:)

I did the minimum of fabbing to go to the market today, yesterday I had a really good session at gym with PT and then felt that I had enough energy to carry on trying to clear an overgrown small flower bed, it was warm and sunny, and of course I did too much, resulting in being tired and extremely achy today.:( Fortunately I am able to just chill when this happens, so hopefully will bounce back tomorrow:D

Maman - I find that OH and I actually chat more if we are out and about too:D

Ellsbel - so pleased that you enjoyed your anniversary, you seem much happier recently.

sugarbaby - You are a wise and very strong lady I hate controlling people and love it that even though you and Wayne have had some good times together, you are wise to his way of operating. I too, think that you have a talent for writing.

Chanie - good luck with growing your hair, it is frustrating when one gets to that mid length.

LL - 7 hours of sleep sounds great. Love your philosophy of better no man than the wrong man. I know a lot of people in our age group who have man or lady friends who they go for meals, to the theatre etc with, and some in loving and sexual relationships, but they keep their own homes and existing friends and interests too, seems a great idea to me and of course where they have grown children and grandchildren it removes the worry about inheritance when the time comes.

carolbee - even at my age I rock the tunic/leggings/opaques/ankle boots look, I think it is a timeless look (other timeless looks are of course available LOL) and can be really dressed up or worn quite casual as needed. (My dear OH who is creeping (not literally) into his mid 70's cannot get why a woman would want to wear trousers under their dresses, apart from ethnic ladies though:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:)

    ..... I'm back now.

Today has been spent getting the final preparations for the new school year. Dd starts in reception, so this year is more hectic.

That's quite a milestone starting in Year R. Hope it all goes wellchanie .

Interesting what you say about timeless looks maddie . Often me, my DD and my teenage DGD will be dressed very much the same such as jeans, top and scarf. That's a far cry from when I was young when there was a separate 'uniform' for each generation. I think it's progress but M&S don't seem to have realised. :rotfl:
  • Hi Ladies,

Had a stressful day yesterday as the Inland Revenue decided not to pay my tax credits (working and child) with no warning. When I phoned to find out why, there was a recorded message, saying that if you had a child of 16 starting in sixth form or College, then you would be receiving a new award notice and once you had, your payment would be backdated to 1st September 2016. When I tried the tax credits website, trying to access further information, there is currently no information, just a message to say you should phone the tax credits helpline with any queries. So it is a catch 22 situation. :( I am resigned to the fact that I am just going to have to wait and hope that my tax credits are reinstated sharpish! I have lost just over £140 a week so I have to take that out of my savings weekly until this situation is resolved. I do not have much savings after giving Marcus the money I promised him for his GCSE pass grades, so this is a worry, but we will tighten our belts and survive. It is fortunate for me that the sun has gone and it is much cooler, as I will be doing more cooking from scratch that will also balance out our planned restaurant meals.

Maman I will only have the restaurant meal on the day and healthy snacks of fruit and lots of water, so that I do not consume too much food in a single day.Our plan is only to have one restaurant meal a week until all of the Groupon vouchers, Nectar vouchers and the Tesco Clubcard voucher have all been redeemed. Of course we are going to have some very enjoyable, tasty meals and if my waistline does not like it, it will just have to speak up loudly and I will ignore it. :rotfl:

Maddiemay thank you for the compliment about my writing. It is much appreciated. :D

Thanks Chanie, I too love my independence :)

I am coming down with some kind of virus today, so I feel drained, have a chesty cough and generally feel achy and have a small lump on the side of my neck, which I am hoping is just an enlarged gland. I phoned my line manager and my supervisor to tell them I would not be going into work today and they were not best pleased, but I felt no guilt. I am genuinely ill and as I have spent the last 2 weeks and 4 days 'deep cleaning' on my floor, it is spotlessly clean. I know I am blowing my own trumpet, but I am streets ahead of the other cleaners that I work with. ;)

I am taking Benylin and Beecham Max and hoping I will turn the corner tomorrow, as Sunday we are going to my great nephew's 1st Birthday celebration and I am really looking for to it, as is my daughter, my son and my grandson.
