carmen welcome back. This thread is a great support and many of us have times when our fabbing is up and down.

I attended MILs birthday party today. I wore a maxi dress, casually with flat sandals and a shrug, but I could have glammed it up with heels. I've been focussing on buying versatile items that can be dressed up or down and its been nice knowing I have a good selection of such items in my wardrobe. I wore my new red lip gloss and felt suitably dressed for the occasion.

    Good evening ladies,
It has been a long time (too long) since I last posted on this thread :(
I'm not sure where to begin, but I do know that I need the support of this group to get back on track!
I have lurked on occasions and wanted to join in again, but I knew I was not ready, I think/hope I stay the course this time?
My weight has been creeping on and I have generally neglected my self over the last 2/3 years. It is time to make time for me again.
I would love to jump on the wagon to fabdom again and be happy to take a kick in the derriere if needed :rotfl::rotfl:

Carmen, I hope you do not mind me hijacking your post but you are me!! I am struggling big time to get on track and in my case blame it on a....the menopause and b.....maybe being a bit lazy! Good luck to you! xx

Good to see you back Carmen.:) I'm sure it won't take you long to start taking care of yourself again. Start building up a routine. Analyse what you're doing now (shower? hairwash?) and then add something small like moisturising and perfume and build from there. Any chance of buying in some help like a haircut or eyebrow shape or mani/pedi? It all helps that well-groomed feeling.

Sorry to hear OH is still behaving badly ruby. He's obviously feeling very hard done by. OK, maybe he does work long hours and he is tired but that applies to you too. I'd just plod on if I were you and try to grab some me time whenever you can. Fabbing will definitely make you feel better about yourself so don't give up on that.

There's something very glamorous but comfortable at the same time about a maxi dress chanie. I agree about the sandals. Wedges can be OK if you need the height but generally heels with a maxi dress can be a bit too formal for a summer party.

I'm starting to pick up a bit at last. Just finished the second lot of anti-biotics this morning. I'm pacing myself but starting to do a little more than simply cook a meal and sit around for the rest of the day. I'm going to tackle the ironing mountain today (not all of it just a few steps in the foothills!;)). Have the dreaded mammogram later. I've no reason to be concerned but I hate the wait for the results.

Still lovely here. I'm planning to wear a summer skirt again. I'm going to dig out a floaty patterned silk one from Zara to wear with a (Tesco:D) lime green loose vest.

    Good morning lovely ladies.

CArmen, my lovely Twinnie - so glad to have you back - we've missed you.:j

    You too jacci.

Never mind about the absences - we all slip occasionally. Life happens.

Remember it's not about how many times you fall, it's about how many times you get back up again.

Well this morning I forced myself to do some simple yoga stretches - the first time since the car crash. Not too bad. Neck pain and headaches still a problem. Physio programme starts tomorrow, twice a week for 10 weeks. Sounds a bit intensive.....

My x Ray's show a 21 per cent misalignment of hips and shoulders, head tilting too far forwards and issues with balance affecting my feet. - body tilted too far forwards, so that my toes are "gripping" in order to maintain my balance as I walk.

These are not issues connected to the recent crash but are a long term combination of previous accidents, caring for my husband (all that lifting and pushing wheelchairs) and just general wear and tear and incorrect posture and movement. Add the new whiplash injuries and you can see I'm in a bit of a state. :rotfl:

My body has tried to alleviate pain by adopting postural positions that ease pain temporarily but which over time has caused more harm than good. So it's time to address these issues once and for all, especially correcting the centre of gravity and improving balance.

I was shocked When she showed me the x Ray's - even more shocked when she did a clever computer graphic thing which showed me what would happen if I didn't change my ways. The angle of misalignment increases dramatically over time.

Anyway we will start with Physio tomorrow and then it's back to Pilates and yoga and hopefully once I'm fit enough then dance classes.

Did I tell I you I have been invited to Aruba next year to meet the Venezuelan clan. Time to brush up my Latin dance moves......:rotfl:

Have spent the last few days doing a bit of gentle gardening, mainly supervisory telling DS2 where to plant things. Today will just do a bit of repotting and tidy up and then it's done until the man comes to do the decking.

Not quite so hot here so perfect gardening weather and then later just sit and enjoy my handiwork. Maybe light the chimenea tonight.

But first - a little walk down to the shop. Not having a car does mean a few little extra shopping trips but maybe that's a good thing - more walking. :D

Since the accident I seem to be spending less. I did a big Aldi shop with DS2 about 10 days ago. Since then I have been "shopping like a Frenchwoman"..........just buying a few fresh ingredients each day.
I'll monitor my spending and see How it works long term.

I have decided not to replace the car immediately but for DS2 and I to car share. We have a great bus service and I have just acquired a gold card which gives me free bus travel. I have my rail card for long distances, a taxi into the city is just £4 and I am already insured to drive DS2s car anyway. So whilst I remain living here with DS2 I might try going car free as an experiment. I could always hire a car for the odd occasion.

The money saved would pay for my Aruba trip.:D

    Good evening ladies,
Thank you for your warm welcome.
Chanie, for outfit for you MiL's party sound lovely, I love to wear maxi dresses in the hot weather,so much cooler.
Jacci, it is very easy to lose the way, especially with eating. How many times have I sat in front of the TV snacking and suddenly realising I have finished a large bag of crisps  I'd be happy to be your fabdom buddy if it helps?
Thank you Maman, this morning I took more time for me I sloughed, slathered and spritzed. My DS's fiancee is a beautician so I shall start to accept her offers of treatments, I love to be pampered.I'm glad you are on the mend, take care.

Dear twinny, I have missed you too, it's good to be back. I see a lot has happened to you and the boys since we last 'spoke' and you now have a new extended family, including a furry one:j Sorry about your accident, maybe a few physio's before your trip to Belgium will help, wishing you a speedy recovery x

Because of my weight gain I feel very sluggish and breathless :( My doctor has told me my knee's,hip's and heart will all let me down if I don't.
Top of my list is to lose weight, my health is paramount.

When I leave the house I am going to always wear make up, then I won't keep my head down and rush around hoping not to see anyone I know, I would hate to frighten them :rotfl::rotfl: I don't wear a lot of make up, but I do feel better when my eye's are made up.I need advice on brow definition please.

It was soo hot today I decided I would stay inside and have a Kondo moment! Tomorrow I am off to the airport with future DiL, she panic's on motorways and her family need to get home :rotfl:

Before I go I have a terrible confession to make.
Yesterday was my OH's birthday and I finally remembered at 9pm:eek:
I was mortified and consumed with guilt. This is the first time it has happened in 43 years:( And to top it all DS and fiancee also forgot! Gawd! we have a lot of making up to do.
Has this happened to anybody else?
It's a beautiful night the stars are so bright, I'm going to take the dog for his walk.
    Good night all xx

    Good morning ladies,
It's a beautiful day so I decided to take my dog for his walk earlier, he does not like the heat and I try to keep out of it these days.
Going to and from the airport will take up most of my day, hopefully we shall not come across any traffic jams, unlike those I have seen on the TV
I hope everyone has a good day?

    Good morning lovely ladies.

Had to smile Twinnie at your forgetting your husbands birthday. Hope you don't have to spend too long in the doghouse......I'm sorry to hear about your health issues. Hopefully fabbing will get you back on track and help you feel better soon.

Isn't that part of what Fabbing is all about, not just lippy and nail polish etc but also about taking care of our bodies, our minds and our well being.

I know I was already having a few problems with my muscles etc,
back, neck and leg pain - even before the car crash I was struggling. NOw of course the accident has brought everytning to the fore, demanding my attention.

So once again Twinnie, we are in perfect sync;) we both need to pay more attention to our weight loss and health needs. I really need to up my game.

I agree with the comments about maxi dresses - they can be both glamourous and comfortable at the same time.....not always an easy combination to achieve, but you can wear comfortable footwear and not bother with tights and yet still look elegant. Great for summer glamour.

Im feeling very tired and achey this morning after a restless night. I am going to have a nice long soak in the bath in a moment. It's my first Physio treatment this afternoon so I will prep tonight's dinner before I go then I can take it easy when i get home. I will need to rest after I have had a good pummelling. On Friday I have my first realignment treatment. Not sure what that entails. The mind boggles.

Have had an offer from the loss adjusters for my car. It was actually more generous than I expected. I must say the insurance company have been very good - that is once you actually get through their telephone queuing system. :rotfl:

Hope you are feeling better, Maman. It's been going on a while now hasnt it.

    Have a fab day everyone.

It has indeed! I finished the second course of antibiotics yesterday and starting to feel a bit stronger every day. I have a GP appointment in a week but have been told to cancel if I feel good.

I'm still pacing myself. Will do a little more ironing today. Hoping to have a day out later in the week and DD2 says she plans to call in on Friday so gradually upping the activity.

Called in to CS yesterday and bought 2 sleeveless tops. One a Jack Wills navy broderie anglaise shell top and the other a Zara long, clingy one in beige.:o:rotfl: Nothing frumpy about this though.;)

Glad to hear your insurance company is being efficient. Those telephone queues are infuriating though. They've even introduced one at our GP's surgery which tells you every time that staff don't tolerate verbal abuse. The trouble is that by the time you've wasted minutes listening to all the messages and menu choices it puts you in a bad mood when they do answer!

Hello all!! Well the fact that I have come on here today is a big step in the right direction!
Just come back from my Osteopath as back has been killing me ( an ongoing problem of 20 plus years) to be told I now have a herniated disc with nerve impingement...deep joy! I thought it was worse than normal!
However, did wear makeup and wore nice clothes but to be honest if I went out NOT wearing make up people would think I was ill! Have not been the best with food today but when in pain I do eat but hopefully now I am going to start taking my nerve painkillers maybe the pain will ease and my motivation will return.

Big hello to Carmen...my fabdom buddy!!!

    Take care all. xxx

Sorry to hear about your back pain Jacqui - that sounds very painful indeed. Hope you can get some relief.

Well I have to say I went to the Physio andI have never known pain like it - obviously the whiplash has caused muscle trauma so not just my usual stiffness. I can hardly bear to be touched at the moment, never mind deep tissue massage.

Hey ho.... It's all in a good cause. I'm sure I'll feel better soon. 1st "realignment treatment" on Friday. can't say that I'm looking forward to it.......

Right now I feel like a bent up old crone.....:rotfl:
