Sugarbaby - I agree about Wayne - who needs that kind of disrespect....

Actually reading both your and Indies comments about men was very interesting. I sometimes despair that DS2 will ever find the right girl. We were having a discussion about relationships. He's had his fingers burnt and is now very wary. He was telling me how many single men he knows who are having similar issues and who are giving up on dating

Such a shame. He has just turned 30 as you know. I'm guessing that as we get older we all get a bit more choosy......

I do know this, for me it's definitely a case of better to have no partner, than the wrong partner. Life's too short to be stuck in a dead end or unsatisfying relationship.

LL my son who is 32 is in much the same position as your son. He really wants to be in a committed relationship, but only ever seems to meet women who are wanting one night stands or a fling and he has thankfully long outgrown this type of behaviour. He has 2 daughters and he knows he has to make wise decisions about any woman who may end up being his daughters step mother.

I rather be single than in the wrong relationship. I have high standards about what I expect from a man I am in a relationship with. If they continue to fall short, then I just prefer to cut my losses and move on. :D

Ruby thanks for your congratulations about my poetry competition prize and your sincere words about my poem. Much appreciated.:)

I hope your sons are now fully recovered and you have begun to make inroads into the piles of washing.

Stay strong when it comes to your OH.

    Hello Ladies,

I have had a very busy week so far. I finally got my kitchen sink unblocked a day later after a woman in my local Poundland advised me to buy Spirits of Salts from a hardware store. It did the trick.

Chanie I am so glad that your family is able to make use of my prize.

On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday I was enjoying myself with City Cruises boat trips on the River Thames. I put my 3 day Rover ticket to good use. I had lunch in Nando's in Greenwich on Tuesday, a fish and chips lunch at the Tower of London on Wednesday which were freshly fried and so delicious to eat in the sunshine and had a late lunch at home on the Wednesday. I am 2 shades browner from being out in the sun, but I really like my new skin colour. :)

I wore heeled sandals on Tuesday when it was 32 degrees here in London, but wore my trainers on Wednesday and Thursday, so that I could walk around a bit more and also not have to worry about losing my footing on the boats.

The views from the boats were panoramic and there was just so much to see. I even saw Tower bridge being raised for a ship to pass through. :D

I have realised in the last 3 days, that I do not know London even though I am London born and bred. There is so much more for me to discover and enjoy. Thank goodness I still have weeks of holiday to go. I took so many photos, that my memory card ended up full. I checked all my other memory cards and they were also full, so I bought a 16GB memory card yesterday on eBay and hope to get it today or tomorrow in the post. I need to be able to have a photographic record of all the places of interest I am visiting.

I went to the Discover Greenwich Visitor Centre, the Painted Hall and the Chapel that are part of the Old Royal Naval College and the National Maritime Museum. I need to revisit the National Maritime Museum as I did not see everything on offer in my 1st visit.

I have had so much fun this week, but I am tired, so I am having a day of rest today. I am reading and watching programmes I recorded. I am really looking forward to next week which should be just as busy for me. :D

I agree with you there sugar. I think many born and bred Londoners are the same and become complacent when it's on your doorstep. I work with people who were not raised in London and know London better than I do!!!

I had a major defuzzing session today.

Firstly, I had my final session of laser hair removal. I got the deal on Groupon, so it was really cheap. I still need top up sessions, but I can see a vast improvement.

Then I went for a wax as a local salon had a good deal on. People at work have been asking why I've been wearing thick tights in this warm weather and that was the reason!!!

LL sorry to hear how bad your whiplash is, hope the physio helps.

I wouldn't worry about your son finding Ms Right yet - early thirties is still relatively young by today's standards. I have to admit by mid forties I am starting to wonder if it will ever happen for me. The men that are still single by their forties seem to be confirmed bachelors and those that are re-emerging post divorce etc are more likely to come with children etc, and selfishly I really want a partner who is as free to come and go as I am. And yes, I know some divorced dads leave most or all of the childcare to their mother, but being contrary, I am not sure I would have much respect for a guy who wouldn't step up and do his share.

I regret wasting my mid-late twenties to late thirties being convinced my size (which was no worse than it is now) meant I was unattractive and earlier in my twenties avoiding relationships because I didn't want children. My sister managed to find a perfectly good husband and he shares her lack of inclination to have children whereas I felt that would also make me unloveable. Reading that is quite sad, have wasted a lot of time thinking I wasn't good enough!

Anyway, I have a nice weekend away to enjoy now and that will be just as much fun being single, if not more so. My last night out with a boyfriend he kept trying to subtly separate me from the group of friends he'd encouraged me to bring along, and it ended up irritating me.

I was a bit naughty last night and bought 4 new dresses in a sale - £25 each when they usually retail for around £75. I don't really need that many new dresses, but I can think of occasions I can wear them and they are super cute - sort of vintage style but in really cute prints and lovely colours - I already have a number of dresses by the same company. A couple were ever so slightly snug by my standards, but I need to get back on the wagon diet wise after this weekend and fix that!

Remembered to do a home facial in the evening - my skin isn't doing well in this heat - even had a couple of spots - eek!

    Have a good weekend all

I've had a few spots appear this week too and I'm 65:rotfl: as you say I think it's down to getting sweaty and sticky so pores get blocked.

    More facials......:rotfl:

Yes the whiplash has been a real problem this week, lots of headaches. I go to Belguim in a Couple of weeks so am hoping I feel better by then. The new Physio treatment plan starts next week, twice a week for 10 weeks so should get 6 treatments in by the time I go so hopefully should see some improvement.

    Now I know this sounds b I t c h y but I must share this with you.

Yesterday I popped down to the little shop. There was a woman in there........

About 4 stones overweight weearing too small leggings, huge backside, legs like overstuffed sausages, overhanging belly and "camel toe" she wore a vest top which revealed rolls of flesh and the dirtiest grimiest bra straps I have ever seen. Her face was that dirty dingy grey pallor from bad diet, fags and inadequate washing. Her hair which was a nice colour and looked thick and healthy wAs scraped back into a "Croydon Facelift". Her finger nails were filthy and very badly painted, the less said about her feet the better.

She was late 20s early 30s.........All I could think was what a wasted youth and what will you be like when you hit 50 - assuming you make it.

How can people allow themselves to sink so low. They must have such low self esteem and no self respect.

Indie - you may have felt "not good enough" but I bet you were 1000 times better than that. Enjoy your weekend and your new dresses.....you are soooo worth it.

£25 for a pretty dress. Bargain. You can see people blow that on a couple of lottery tickets, a packet of fags and a takeaway and have nothing to show for it. Whereas you will look and feel like a goddess.

Ruby, hope your boys are now fully recovered. When do you try out the camper van. It might be fun and as Maman says it might just show your partner how tough it is for you with twin babies. He might even start to appreciate you a little more.

    Glorious weather here again.

I've never lived in London but because of staying with relatives there when I was a child and living within easy reach I've got to know it reasonably well as a tourist. What I'm finding fascinating is learning how the various bits of the map of London fit together. I used to use the tube loads and then all the sights were disjointed as I'd come up from underground, visit the area then back to Waterloo. Now I walk or take buses whenever I can and I'm getting the 'bigger picture'.

I love Greenwich sugarbaby. I was lucky when I last visited the chapel that there were music students performing/practising there from the university. Very soothing. You may have noticed the replica of Shakespeare's globe when you were on the riverboat. That's worth a visit. I've never yet been to a production there but enjoyed a guided tour during the day. Another thing I've enjoyed has been a tour of the city. I downloaded a self-guided walk and did it on a Sunday when there are no workers so the streets are really quiet.

I know exactly what you mean LL. Sadly there's something about the sun in this country that brings out sights that would be better left covered up! I commented to DH last night about a pair of 'blobs' waddling away with their beer from a local convenience store as we were driving past. It was the topless guy in the shorts with his beer belly hanging over them displaying all his tattoos that got to me. And what makes him think that the world and his wife wants to see his (invariably grubby looking) underpants showing above the shorts. :rotfl:

I know I'm judgemental but it's only because I know it doesn't have to be that way. Of course I realise there are exceptions like people with certain disabilities and some people have very little money indeed but, in general, it's a lifestyle choice and I'm so glad it's not one I chose. Being fab takes a bit of effort but definitely worth it IMO. :)

I think £25 for quality dresses is good indie. If they're vintage styles and prints then you're more likely to get more than one season out of them too. I'm a huge believer in cost per wear. If you start by saying 'would I pay £25 to go out feeling great in this dress?' then answer will be Yes. By the time you're saying 'Would I pay £5 (on the fifth wear)?' it'll be a no brainer.;)

Still hot here. I've had a shower and done my hair, dressed in a cool print skirt and a white loose vest top. This the one time of the year that I look good in white! I need to do a food shop.:(

Maman. Some may think we are being judgemental but as my mum used to say soap and water doesn't cost much. She should know - apparently when she lived in Belgium during the occupation you couldnt get toilet soap for love nor money. She said all you could get was a horrid gritty bar of something that resembled soap, it had no lather. They called it "ersatz" - a word we have come to use meaning "fake".

Apparently keeping clean was quite a problem. Aren't we lucky.;)

I think that's why she and her family loved their luxurious hot bubble baths and nice soaps so much.

I can recommend a trip to the reconstructed Globe theatre. Saw Twelfth Night there.
  • I live in a town which has many occupants like the ones you describe LL!! I know it's hot but surely they could find something a bit nicer to wear (says me who has had to drag my summer clothes out of the loft and wash them, as last year I was pregnant and couldn't fit in them.....). You're right, soap and water (or shampoo, or washing powder) doesn't cost much! Hope your recovery is going well, and that you're enjoying a relaxing weekend.

Ah indie, I am so jealous of your gig-going :) I loved the Expecting to Fly album, but now all my CDs are in the loft as OH hates 'clutter' :( I'm also a big Suede fan, saw them at Ally Pally and the Albert Hall in the last few years. Oh and at York Barbican many years ago!

Interesting about there being a lack of available men/ women; I have several very lovely female friends who haven't settled down as they simply haven't met the right chap. I have a couple of male ones too but unfortunately none of them like each other in that way! A lot of people I know have met their partners on the internet as they weren't meeting anyone through work or social circles.

It sounds like you're having a great time exploring London sugarbaby! Greenwich is so pretty, I used to go into central London for work and it was always nice discovering hidden corners and parks.

Well, OH and I had a lovely day today till he ended it with a major moan!! He was washing up baby bottles and I offered to do that whilst he played with the babies, as his usual moan is that he never sees them. You'd have thought I said something really offensive - he launched into "I'm so tired, I just need to sleep, I work long hours etc etc" - no idea why! He spent 15 minutes washing up then 45 minutes sulking in the garden before snoring on the sofa and refusing to help with dinner time, bath time, bed time etc. I've still got some housework to finish, but after that may go to bed (in the nursery!) and watch a film rather than listen to him snore...... we have a family day out planned tomorrow and tickets booked, wish we hadn't as I'd prefer not to see him to be honest.
Finally debt free!! March 2018 :j

    Good evening ladies,
It has been a long time (too long) since I last posted on this thread :(
I'm not sure where to begin, but I do know that I need the support of this group to get back on track!
I have lurked on occasions and wanted to join in again, but I knew I was not ready, I think/hope I stay the course this time?
My weight has been creeping on and I have generally neglected my self over the last 2/3 years. It is time to make time for me again.
I would love to jump on the wagon to fabdom again and be happy to take a kick in the derriere if needed :rotfl::rotfl:
