Loved the dress chanie, real classic. My SIL had a similar one and wore it all year round. It looked great in the winter with a long sleeved top underneath and leggings/boots.
I picked it because its versatile - it can be dressed up or down and will work in all seasons.
Maman have you managed to find a denim skirt? Since you mentioned them, I want one myself, but I really want the 'perfect' one, so I'll hold out until I find it.0 -
Decorating.......we did the whole house white because it was new plaster. . Then we started adding colour and did the downstairs late last year/early this year. Now we just have two bedrooms to go. Nearly there.
I have actually put shorts on today.:rotfl:
Ds2 just noticed a large bruise on my leg which wasnt there yesterday so I guess I've still got some way to go yet.
Never mind, at least no broken bones so I'm very lucky.
I love the dress too, Chanie.0 -
Hello Ladies,
I have spent all day trying to unblock the kitchen sink. I had to forgo going on my 1st day of river cruises, but I will be on my way tomorrow morning. I expect to have a lovely day on the River Thames. I can take as many cruises as I want to.
LL thank you for your good wishes about my poem. It is so thoughtful of your son to paint your bedroom for you when you are away on holiday.
Chanie your fun run sounded like a real family outing, which you all enjoyed. I imagine you will all treasure your medals. I have done the 5KM Race for life on Clapham Common for the last 5 years and really treasure my five medals.
Indiepandie what a surreal coincidence that you too are also a S E Londoner. Welcome to the 'gang'.It is great to have you back on the thread and thanks for taking the time and effort to bring us up to date with what was happening to you. You have had an enjoyable time. I hope you have a great time at the seaside.
Maman thank you for your expressive words about my poem. I actually wrote it 2 years ago.I am inspired to write poems and short stories about experiences in my life.
I want to do a helicopter ride, but it is not the vertigo that stops me it is the price. :rotfl: London flights are too expensive, but if I find a deal, I would buy it.
I do not take packed lunches with me as I explore London. I can afford to treat myself to some nice lunches, but my MSE habits have simply made me wait until I got home to eat a late lunch so far.
My daughter and I went to a Cuban street food tasting at Cubana in Waterloo today. The sun was shining and we both bought virgin moquito's to go with our food. They were so refreshing and went so well with the food. They were bogof so only cost £3 for the 2 cocktails. It was a free event and the food was very fresh, made with very good quality ingredients and hot and spicy. I am looking forward to having lunch there next week.
I have come to the end of the road with Wayne. He did not turn up for our date last night. Lucky for me I had arranged for us to meet at Karaoke, so I did not miss him as I had a really good time at Karaoke. I find it pretty unforgivable, that he did not call me or text me until today with the pathetic excuse that he had fallen asleep. I have a busy, happy, fulfilled life as a single, independent woman, so I will not tolerate bad manners, or selfish, inconsiderate behaviour from a man before I will end the relationship. If this had been the 1st time, I would have shown some understanding, but he was trying to take me for a fool. When I had tried to phone him at 11 pm, his phone was turned off, even though he was 2 hours late for our date. Who turns their mobile off before they fall asleep in a heap from exhaustion? :rotfl: Wayne was trying to have a laugh at my expense, but he is laughing on the other side of his face now that I have binned him off. He has missed out big time where his upcoming birthday is concerned as I had very big plans for Wayne. The presents can be kept for my son in law's birthday and Christmas. There is no point in my being friends with Wayne, it is best if we go our separate ways.0 -
Hello all.
I had a lovely day at the seaside thanks Maman and Sugarbaby. Enjoyed a potter around the shops - there's a little boutique that stocks a lot of brands I like, didn't find anything that was quite right in the sale, but got a necklace that was full price.
Was lovely to see Hastings pier back open to the public, I have happy childhood memories of visiting there with family on holidays and days out and it had been sad to see it get into such a state, would have hated it to go the same way as the west pier at Brighton. Had my dinner in the restaurant there - only fish and chips (not exactly diet friendly...) but nicely done and was great sitting outside by the railings with the view over the water.
Couldn't go for a swim as I didn't have anyone to look after my stuff, but I had my shorts on so I took my sandals off and went for a paddle instead.
Arranged to take next Tuesday off so have got 4 days and 3 nights away for a long weekend. Going up north to Huddersfield on Saturday to stay with a friend who I've met going to gigs over the years and a couple of the gang are coming over to dinner on the Saturday. Then Sunday we have a gig in Leeds to go to - bit of Britpop revival thing including the band we met going to see. Monday I will drive back to Leamington and meet up with my former boyfriend / now friend and am going to stay with him (in his spare room) for the night so we can have a relaxed evening together and enjoy a day out on the Tuesday before I drive home in the evening.
Still not feeling much inclination to look for a new boyfriend - it's nice to keep in touch with Leamington guy and we have fun when we see each other, but I don't miss how miserable I used to feel always being the one having to chase him to make plans. Anyway, I was looking at my diary and I have at least one thing planned every weekend between now and late October now and what with weekends away and holidays I am completely busy for a number of them, so it's not like I have much time for a guy. Not to say if Mr Right appeared I wouldn't try to find time but am getting a bit disillusioned as to whether he really exists. I meet lots of lovely single ladies at my social club but there's always less men there and some of them are a bit odd! Not sure where the single men of my age are - possibly just out playing sport with their mates??!
Glad to hear you've put Wayne in his place Sugarbaby, we all deserve to be treated with respect but we're not always that good at demanding it. I know I've been guilty of putting up with too much for too long many times.
Right, better crack on, am going to work from home today to avoid the commute in the heat and keep the house aired. I have to go out tonight but at least if I have the house open during the day it won't be quite so oven like when I get home tonight. My bedroom is in the converted loft and it was horrible when I got home after dinner with my friend last night, felt like I was being cooked alive when I stepped in.0 -
What a wonderful, heartfelt piece of writing sugarbaby. A very well deserved 'congratulations' on your prize :T what an idiot Wayne is though - I'm glad you haven't given him one second more of your time!!
I have fond memories of the 2012 Olympics too chanie, I spent a lot of time on a work project about it that year. In fact I was in Westfield Stratford on the opening day and it had a fantastic atmosphere (and lots of good looking athletes wandering around) - can't believe it's been four years already.
Hope you are looking after yourself LL and resting up, it did hit me for six after the small accident I was in, I imagine you're feeling the same at the moment.
I haven't had time to do much of anything as the boys have had diarrhoea and vomiting for over a week nowI think (hope!) we're coming to the end of it now, but it wasn't pleasant...... and our washing pile is enormous!! The heat really didn't help either, I thought they were going to dehydrate, and neither of them liked the Dioralyte they were prescribed. Still, it's warm today without being too sticky, much more bearable.
FIL has offered us his camper van to go away in the week after next, but I've never holidayed in one, am investigating options at the moment. Also still looking into re-training instead of/ as well as going back to my old job! Things with OH are ok for now, not great, but he's a lot less snappy and moany. Or maybe I'm just more used to it?!
Great to hear about your exploits too indiepanda, I was a big Britpop fan!! I'm missing festivals featuring Ash and Shed Seven this year, gutted! Finally debt free!! March 2018 :j0 -
Just remembered that I took the boys out at the weekend rather than listen to OH moan..... that's why I thought he hadn't been too bad :rotfl:
Oh and there's been no movement on the weight loss front, been eating whatever I can that's quick and convenient (toast, usually!) in between cleaning up babies and doing washing. Still a stone to lose! Finally debt free!! March 2018 :j0 -

Shed Seven are playing at the gig I am going to along with the Bluetones and Reverend and the Makers.
Even though Ocean Colour Scene are the headlines, it's really the Bluetones that got me there, been to see them loads of times (more than ten, probably not quite twenty). That's how I know the people I am going with, met at various gigs via posting on their forum.0 -
Good morning lovely ladies
Not much news here. I have been resting. TBH the whiplash has been worse than I anticipated and I have been pretty sore. It's also been a bit too hot for me......I know I shouldn't complain but we are a long way inland - no cooling sea breezes and it has been very humid.
Ds2 has been off fortunately and he has been my chauffeur and "muscles man" this week.
I did go to my new Physio (changed because of transport issues). As a new client she took x Ray's etc. I'm afraid the X-rays showed up some long term issues which had slipped under the radar......a lesson here - I should have had x Ray's years ago........:o. Anyway she reckons she can sort me out.
I rang my insurance company regarding treatment for whiplash as I am covered for personal injury and they say they will cover my costs. My new Physio said she can combine the two sets of treatments in one iyswim so that helps.
NHS physio provision is dire here so even if I had to pay the full amount then I would.
Sugarbaby - I agree about Wayne - who needs that kind of disrespect....
Actually reading both your and Indies comments about men was very interesting. I sometimes despair that DS2 will ever find the right girl. We were having a discussion about relationships. He's had his fingers burnt and is now very wary. He was telling me how many single men he knows who are having similar issues and who are giving up on dating
Such a shame. He has just turned 30 as you know. I'm guessing that as we get older we all get a bit more choosy......
Hopefully you will all meet your Mr and Miss Rights one day. My eldest boy didn't meet his miss Right till he was 31. And I was 30 when I met my second husband.
I do miss my husband dreadfully at times. I also miss being part of a couple enjoying a happy and committed relationship. I do look around at my friends who still have their husbands and I can't help but feel a "pang" now and then.
Two new ladies have come into my life....my new next door neighbour who is a recent widow - we have had a couple of coffees together and I'm going to show her the ropes here (she's moved up from London). AN old Spanish friend has also come back into my life having just divorced her husband last year.
I guess that's what we singles have to do, rebuild our lives with like minded single people and wait and see what the future brings.
I know I could never join a dating site or any kind of formal dating agency and I don't think I could deliberately go on a "man hunt". :rotfl: I doubt I shall marry again or even have a romantic Liason but I guess none of us knows what the future has in store for us so maybe I should just say "never say never":rotfl:
I do know this, for me it's definitely a case of better to have no partner, than the wrong partner. Life's too short to be stuck in a dead end or unsatisfying relationship.
It's A big world out there and I'm sure I can survive in it and enjoy all it has to offer - even if I have to walk life's path alone.
Fab Friday.. Today I shall be having an at home day so I won't be making a big fuss, just gojng to potter about, maybe rest in the garden with a book. I will have a nice pamper session at some point A face mask, manicure etc.
Have a great day.0 -
ll sorry you have whiplash. I had it years ago in an accident myself. I remember getting a call from one of those ambulance chasing companies the day of the accident and I told them I wasn't injured so I had nothing to claim and the next day, I couldn't move my neck. The other insurers paid for my physio, but it took about 6 months to get me back to normal.
ruby please to read that things are on the up for you. I hope you have a well deserved break with the family.
sugar thank you so much for the tickets, I contacted the company and gave them my details. We haven't gone in and registered yet. It's the most fantastic gift, which will be well used and I'm eternally grateful. Funilly enough, the children have been invited to birthday party there is a couple of weeks!!! I am going yo PM you, so keep an eye on your inbox.
DS has broken up from school, so schools out for the summer. I have quite a few chores to do, so I'd better crack on. I have my final laser session today and I have to buy MILs birthday cake fir her party tomorrow - I'm planning on buying a red velvet cake from Costco, it's £9 and will feed 20 people.0 -
Just catching up with everyone's news.
Glad to hear you're coping ruby. I suppose one plus of the good weather must have been being able to dry all the extra washing! It's a kind offer of the campervan. I think I'd give it a go. Maybe it'll do your OH good to see how much work the boys are at first hand. to the moaning. What's he got to moan about!!
The weather has stayed glorious here all week although I've been no further than an occasional walk in the garden. I'm going out to lunch today which will be my first social occasion in three weeks. So I'll be doing fab Friday wearing the new summer dress I bought (sleeveless cheesecloth in pale green with white spots) with silver ballet pumps.0
