Chanie as you are already experiencing problems with your new washing machine and it is under guarantee, have you explored the option with the retailer you bought it from of having it exchanged for a new washing machine with similar specifications, but a different brand?

LL you got a real bargain with that leather overnight bag. I bought a leather overnight bag more than 10 years ago from Price Drop TV for less than £15 including the P & p costs and it is still in really good condition. What did you think of the bungalow up close?

Shandy sorry about the demise of BHS. It must be a very difficult time for you all. I once worked for BHS for 3 years at the Oxford Street store. Even then, I did not buy much from BHS. It always struck me as the more inferior version of M & S when it came to most of the products, only the lighting seemed to be better quality.

I am really loving my Dove pampering body oil. It just sinks into my skin, leaving it even softer than using my Dove body lotions. I am really pampering myself over the next few days for my appearance on the TV quiz show. Getting quite nervous to be honest. I hope I make my children proud and have lots of fun. :D

I would like to rejoin this thread please, I have really let myself slide, can`t remember the last time I applied cosmetics, probably January on my cruise, I tend to think only popping shops why worry, so I am going to take my dog for her walk, come home to quick tidy, then I will give myself a going over, de-fuzzing, eye brow plucking and moisturising all over, apply bb cream and mascara at least, tidy clothes to venture to local P.O. to post a letter, weather not good so hope to tidy my mindset.
Do I need it or just want it.

I started by searching for videos on you tube and tutorials on “eye make up for small eyes” and eye make up for the older woman” I am probably a lot older than many of you. I particularly like any by Lisa Eldridge. I bought some inexpensive eye liner pencils, eye shadows and palettes and tried some new looks quite successfully.
Fast forward 3 or 4 years to much more grey hair (I love it), paler skin (age and anaemia) and crepey eyelids. Yuk:(. About 6 months ago I discovered make up and a blog “Look Fabulous Forever” Tricia Coulsden produces make up more suited to the older skin, lighter in texture etc, there are loads of videos on applying her products and I think they might be useful for anyone in mid years who is trying to find her way back into applying make up again.
I particularly like her eye primer, my holy grail for years has been Benefit Lemon Aid, but sadly I have been finding it a little too heavy in texture, the pink blusher is great for me as is a lavender Fabulous Lid Colour, gives a light, brightening wash of colour over the lid and a base for socket shading/eye liner if wanted. I also bought Fabulous Light highlighter, which again is a lighter texture than others I have and a couple of the brushes which I find very good.
My greeting the postman face is usually eye primer, pencil in eye brows (makes a massive difference) and mascara on cleansed and moisturised skin. My going out face is mineral powder (found one that doesn’t sit in the creases), blusher, the above eye make up plus shading to the socket line, highlighter under brow, a little shadow towards the outside of the lid and pencil or crayon type liner (sometimes just a fine line close to lashes or more full on and smudged for a light smokey look). Getting the colours right has been a challenge as the majority of colours in a palette are too dark and dull for me and the biggest no-no for me is nothing with shimmer above the socket line, just sits in the crepey bits and looks gross. My lips are thinner now and I cannot carry off heavy textured lippie, which means re-applying more often, but that is OK for my lifestyle.
Sorry to have waffled on, writing it down takes longer than applying it thank goodness. :D

Wow. Maddie. What fabulous make up tips...I shall definitely be checking out some of your commendations. I need to rethink my eye make up, I have hooded eyes - like Charlotte Rampling but unfortunately not as sexy......:rotfl: I don't have her matching high cheekbones, alas......

RE the bungalow, cancelled the viewing in the end.....I know the house type - I've viewed them before - it's seems quite a common design in bungalows of a certain era and frankly it doesn't work well, especially if (I know I know) you have to think about wheel chairs and Zimmer frames......

I realise I might be overthinking things but given my experiences with my OH and disability equipment I am trying to make sure that what I buy will be future proof and able to cope with my changing needs as I get older).

The next property doesn't have to be a bungalow - there's plenty of lifts on the market - but it does need to be wheelchair friendly. And anyway I fancy a nice open plan kitchen diner......

Am going to see one this afternoon. Looks fab on paper.

Finding the right house is a bit like finding the right man.........

A girl has to kiss a lot of frogs:rotfl:

Pamsdish.......welcome back. We always love to see returners. It's nice to see our friends climb back in the fab wagon.

Delighted to say - I've lost another 2 lbs this week. :j. Getting there slowly.

    Don't forget Fab Friday

One thing I have been doing this last few weeks is practising my nail painting skills. For a long while I have been using clear or light pastel nail polish. Well - after a couple of weeks of practising I am now back up to speed. Today I am sporting Chinese Red and if I say so myself it's perfect.....

What made me get back to it.......well when I went to Barcelona I paid for someone to paint my toe and finger nails. I think around d 30 euros...She made a right hash of it. I thought to myself "Come on you've been trained to do this why did you waste your money paying someone to do such a bad job when can do it yourself"

Now my problem is that I am VERY right handed and don't use my left hand enough. So using my left hand to paint my right hand was never very satisfactory. Anyway after some intensive practice I can now achieve much better results.

    Right time to get cracking.........

Grey and dismal, the rain is not far away but it is quite warm. Jeans and a light top I think plus better take my raincoat.

I'll let you know how the viewing goes ......

    Have a fab day.

    Good morning lovely ladies

Well what a disappointment. Couldn't go to London yesterday, too ill. Feel a bit better today but not that great TBH.

I felt really fed up yesterday and very sorry for myself. But today I have decided it's my own stupid fault for not taking better care of myself so from this day forward I am strengthening my resolve.

I will not allow my health issues to get the upper hand and ruin my retirement. It really is up to me.

So I'm more determined than e er now. More TLC, better food choices, proper rest and sleep - well you know the rest.......

I've had two blips this week with my wretched stomach, I think this time it was cashew nuts ........ at least they are easy to avoid.

I was so fed up yesterday I did some internet shopping and bought myself a gorgeous silver evening dress £350 reduced to £49.

It's a stunner (well it ought to be at that price.......:rotfl:). It's the next size down to make sure I stay motivated.

The good news I've lost nearly 3 lbs this week.

    So it's onwards and downwards........

    Have a great week.

    I'll try later. I'll need DS2s help.

In the meantime you might find it on https://www.justlastseason.co.uk

    It's by Jacque Verte.

I know I seem to have a bit of a thing for them at the moment but I know their sizing works for me so I'm happy to buy online.

Ive just checked and noticed it's still there but they are saying only size 10 left.

Sometimes You can get the same items on eBay so I always look on there too.

I've bought one or two new dresses next size down. I know "they" advise not to buy in advance but I am quite confident this time about the weight coming off. I know it sounds daft but I just feel I've got my head round it now.

My weight loss is very slow and I admit I am a bit impatient to see it go but the good news is even when I plateau I don't seem to put it back on.

PS. Can anyone else recommend any good sites for buying nice clothes online.

I looked at House of Fraser and they have some gorgeous dresses but even their sale prices were a bit more than I want to pay. They do a range called Linea and they are stunning but even in the sale they are over £100 and I don't really want to go that high. - at least not until I reach my target weight.

Pps that website also sells other makes - Planet, Kaliko, Eastex, Dash so quite a good range of choice.
