Frump to Fab 2016 - Lets make it AWESOME!!!

Ellsbel - sorry to hear you've fallen Foul of the tummy bug. Hope you feel better soon.
A sun lounger and a book is just what the doctor would have ordered......:rotfl:
Pleasing ourselves for ourselves. Love that. Made me smile, so thanks for that.
Let's make it our mantra.0 -
I think we should, LL - and I'm feeling very rebellious this week, too:D
Thanks for the well wishes - tummy more settled now, thank goodness. I think you and I must be drinking the same water at the moment as I identify with so much of what you're saying; I even have the ottoman at the end of the bed that I want to empty and discard! Spooky :rotfl::rotfl:
To cap it all, I had to wash down and disinfect our garden furniture yesterday as we have a family of young foxes at the end of the garden who seem to love climbing over it at night with their muddy paws! I've just gone out there to have a quiet coffee before everyone gets up, only to find that they've done it again and I've had to get the scrubbing brush out again; coffee's gone cold now:mad:
I don't wish them any harm but I wish they'd take off! I've got enough to do cleaning up after my own "Cubs":D
I've put on some floral linen chinos today and a long sleeved white tee; at least I'm fabbed whilst feeling grumpy!
In laws are visiting at some point today and then there's footie on, so apart from squeezing in a grocery shop I don't have much planned. Going to drag OH out to one of the National Trust properties nearby tomorrow though, providing tummy stays ok.
Have a good weekend all0 -
Indiepanda - have you any holidays/walking weekends on the horizon? as someone who was active in my younger and healthier life I enjoy hearing of your travels.
MM
Hi Maddiemay - next hiking weekend is in a couple of weeks, two days down on the southcoast, staying in Bournemouth. Crossing my fingers for a bit of sunshine.
Am hoping to get some day walks in over the summer and then my next overseas holidays are September, I have a week in Austria hiking and then have a night at home before going for a 6 night trip to Italy doing yoga which will be fab.
Work is going to be really hectic over the summer and I will be very ready for that break, but at least I have a few weekends away in the meantime, including going to Edinburgh for a long weekend during the comedy festival.
Hope you enjoyed your coffee with your friends and pleased to hear your sessions with the p/t are good. I find mine invaluable - can always adapt round your individual weaknesses rather than struggle in a class when you can't keep up. Plus mine gradually makes things more challenging in a way I wouldn't do for myself - easy to get into a rut on your own. She doesn't tell me either - just lets me gradually twig I am using heavier weights or doing more repeats or a harder version of the same exercise.
Will do a proper update sometime over the weekend but need to get ready to head into town, meeting one of the girls from work and her friends for a picnic in Regents Park to celebrate her birthday.0 -
Good morning lovely ladies......
Well I feel much sweeter today, don't why I was so cross and so at odds with myself this last couple of days I think it might have been the heat, plus i think I was just overtired.
Whilst May was fun it was a bit full on, very busy and at times a bit of an emotional Rollercoaster. So what I think is needed is a quiet few weeks just to replenish my batteries (and savings - they took a bit of a hammering:rotfl:).
It's much cooler here after the rain and I slept much better last night which obviously helps.
The garden looks really nice this morning. All washed and fresh. Foxes - I remember them well from our old house, they can smell very strong can't they.
Didn't do much Kondoing yesterday but have been planning it in my head. I am going to be ruthless......Each time I have a session I think that's it all done and then a few weeks or months later I find myself thinking I've not gone far enough, I want to get rid of even more.....
Perhaps it's just an ongoing process as I constantly evolve and refine what I actually want from life. Since "moving on" - dreadful phrase - from my husband's death it feels like I need to evaluate my life and reinvent myself.
Time to leave the "mantle of widowhood" behind and start living like the singleton I have now become. It's quite a transition. I think this is why I have taken my time to buy my own home.....I want to make sure I get it right.
I don't think it's just widowhood though. I think perhaps retirement also plays a big Part in all this too. Each by itself is a game changer but when they happen simultaneously then I guess there is bound to be a period of adjustment needed.
Anyhoo today DS2 and I are on a mission to buy paint and some DIY bits. I think lunch out......have a day off from cooking and domestic routine.
Have a lovely weekend.0 -
Hope the picnic goes well indie. What a lovely idea.:) Same with the NT property ellsbel. I had hoped to get to one of our local ones with a renowned rose collection but doubt that will be fitted in. Probably should have taken myself off there this week rather than waiting for DH.
I had a lovely day yesterday and was so pleased I decided to do fab Friday. I wore dark denim jeans and my dusky pink Jigsaw top with a cap sleeve. I decided as I had so little food shopping to get in I had time to get my nails done rather than leave it until Monday which looks to be quite busy (hair and eyebrows). DD1 texted me as she was leaving work to ask if I was at home for a visit but as I was at the shops we met up at a local wine bar instead. We had a lovely hour chatting in the sunshine, seemed more relaxing than being at home. Then at the theatre last night where I was lazy and just put on heeled wedges and a jacket over my daytime clothes.
I've bought myself a travel hairdryer and tried it out yesterday. I've had one before and very pleased at the power for a small appliance. Will be particularly useful for mini breaks where luggage space is at a premium.
I'm going to nip out for an hour to the shops this afternoon but I've got dinner prepped already. We need to eat between the Wales and England games.;)
ETA: meant to comment too, definitely fabbing for ourselves sugarbaby :T0 -
Well I'm feeling very smug. Had a nice Kondoing session, two bags of clothes, and some ornaments and bits and pieces for the Chazzer. I managed to get rid of the ottoman. My bedroom looks much better without it.
I still need to have a second sweep through the wardrobes and drawers but that's enough for one day. Might tackle the study next, then finish my bedroom after. Then another sweep of the kitchen, then the cellar (of doom).
I feel like I've still got a mountain to climb to get it all straight and organised. Our old house had masses of storage space - here I feel like it's a never ending game of Tetris.........:rotfl:
Bought two industrial shelving units for the cellar, DS has just built one. Ive got plenty of plastic storage crates so we shouldbe able to tame the clutter and get the cellar organised.
Didnt Go out for lunch in the end
....wasn't hungry so I thought we would save the money for our London trip next weekend.0 -
Wahoo. Weight loss 1lb......ok not earth shattering but it's going in the right direction.....;)
Another day of rain off and on so I think more Kondoing and cook a nice healthy dinner. Slow cooked roast beef and all the trimmings. Yummy.
Bought a new stainless steel floor lamp yesterday, one of those that incorporates a reading/task lamp - perfect for needlework of an evening. Reduced to £17 - bargain - snapped it up because it was the last one.
Will go back to buy all the paint etc next Wednesday when I get the
Senior discount. We need a lot of paint - hall, stairs and landing plus fence and masonry paint so that 10 per cent wIll ease the pain a bit.
Speaking of pain, stubbed my toe last night. Ouch. It's swollen and bruised but I don't think it's broken. I can still wiggle it although it's a bit stiff - can weight bear so don't think it's serious.
I have decided not to use hair dryers and heated stylers for a while, letting my hair dry naturally and then pop in large rollers just to give it some root lift. Unless of course On the days When i have to go out early. I like to give it a "rest" from heated stylers etc. Every so often.
Hope you are all having a fab weekend.0 -
Not much fabbing going on here today. I'm just having a break but will have to tackle some ironing sooner or later.:(
Envying you the roast beef LL. We're having an odd meal of gammon, mash and cabbage as I want to use up what's in before we go away on Tuesday.
The lamp sounds like a good buy. Will it need a special daylight bulb for sewing?
That was useful information about Boots sugarbaby. I have been into the large city centre branch and our small, local one this week. I noticed in the big branch all my usual shampoo and conditioner (John Frieda) was on 3 for 2. In fact everything I looked at seemed to be on some sort of offer. Nipped into the small one for some toothpaste and you'd have thought 3 for 2 didn't exist. Naughty.
OH has been busy collecting together what he's taking on holiday (hence a pie of summer shirts to iron). I ought to sort my stuff but I'm confident I have everything I need so just needs transferring to bags. That's one of the great things about MK. Except for the stuff on hangers, I can just lift things, neatly folded, straight from the drawer to my suitcase.
ETA::T congratulations on the weightloss.0 -
Just having five minutes after a nice heathy "anti pasti" type lunch.....get me going all Italian. I am shattered and need to rest my foot. It's in glorious technicolor now.:rotfl: but oddly enough it doesn't hurt too much so I think it's ok.
I have just gone though my bedroom and finished resorting all my clothes, linen and toiletries. Not much to dispose of but its all ordered and organised. At last.:D
Gosh, not long till your holiday. I'm sure the gammon dinner will be fab. I bought a little mini one from aldi the other day, the one that comes with maple sauce. It was lovely. And very reasonable.
Hope you get some nice warm sunshine.
I agree, since discovering MK my packing is much better, and less creasing the other end too. Also I found I could get more stuff in the case.
It was great when I went on the cruise and had to pack for 33 days, especially as I didn't have to worry about airline weight restrictions.
Yes you often have to watch the small branches of Boots etc. I've found the same with the mini metro Tescos and Sainsbugs.
Tbh I don't know if I need to change the bulb, not tried any sewing yet. It seems bright enough though and it's fully adjustable so you can get it really close to your work.0 -
Ouch!! LL! I hope the foot heals quickly.
Just popping in to wish you a lovely holiday maman
Back soon.0
