Shandyclover - thank you for the update, I was wondering yesterday how things were going for you and your family. Well done on being able to do the exam, it must have been really tough for a while.

The new style work trousers sound very chic and I am sure that you will soon get your head around the 5:2 and the exercise as soon as work settles down a little, all the uncertainty must be ghastly.

Ellsbel - I hope that you find a support group that you can get to, sounds like lots of good advice from the others here.

Maman - Did you manage to catch OH out, so made me giggle:rotfl:

Rubyslippers - I hope that you have managed to catch back on some sleep, I really don't know how you lovely Mums get by, I am awful if sleep deprived (somewhere along the line I decided not to go down the parent route, probably a good thing in respect of the lack of sleep:()

Sugarbaby - Sounds like you had a great chill week, well done on the weight loss since. It sounds like you were very astute in sussing out the potential situation with Wayne, you seem to have made a great life for yourself and have no requirement for anyone so demanding and immature.

LL- you have had a busy, emotional and tiring few weeks, wonderful, but energy zapping, I am sure that if you are kind to yourself you will soon be back on track and gently loosing the weight that you wish to, lots of us cheering you and everyone else on along the way.

Mav - Fantastic work re the charity recycling.

Indiepanda - have you any holidays/walking weekends on the horizon? as someone who was active in my younger and healthier life I enjoy hearing of your travels.

Today brings session with PT, it is a struggle, but he continually selects ways of doing things to accommodate my aches and pains and I always come away having achieved something positive. I really need one of those stretching/movement classes for the elderly as well, but don't know where to find anything, must ask around, there is no way that I could partake in a mainstream pilates or yoga session atm. Then off the nearby pretty little town to meet up with my bestie for coffee and much talking, we are support network for one another and try and get together one a month.

    Have a good day everyone.

Sorry you're having a stressful time shandy but I hope you enjoy your days off - you deserve them! How rotten of the invigilator to publicly rebuke you; surely they must understand what an anxious situation an exam is?
As for the rude customers - my recent, short lived return to work was in a customer service environment, and whilst I firmly believe that good customer service is so important, and that many big companies are extremely short sighted and lacking in common sense in this field, it has to be said that some people are just rude. Full stop. Doesn't matter what you do for them; it's as though, for some, no matter what walk of life they're from, if they're faced with someone who is there to serve them, then they'll treat that person as a servant who isn't worthy of any respect or courtesy.
Hope things look up for you on the work front soon.
Another busy, housework filled day here today, but I do intend to take a different approach very soon as it's all getting a little soul destroying, chasing my tail all the time! (I removed a football from my lounge this morning that my 20 year old left there last night:eek::D)
I'm thinking of informing my three fellas that I'm taking one day off each week, where they can't rely on me to be there, because I'll be off doing something feminine :rotfl:
Grey and dull here today - cardi weather, for sure. Looking forward to my hair appointment next week, and I've found a SW meeting near me on Tuesday that I might be able to get to if I organise my morning right, so that's good.
Right - off to put a little make up on and start running errands - have a good day all; we've nearly made it to the weekend!:T
Cross posted with you again, Maddie!:D hope the PT session goes well. Do you have an adult learning institute near you? I know our local one often offers gentle exercise classes for older people as one of their evening or daytime adult learning classes. Maybe the local library (if you have one) could point you in the right direction?

Hi everyone, just a quickie ....I too am off to Physio in a minute.

I did some gardening yesterday and went all out to finish it so that my PT could put me back to rights today......:rotfl: a good pummelling should sort me out.

Footballs in the lounge - :rotfl::rotfl: nearly spat my coffee out......

I agreee Ellsbell. Being the only female In a household of males does can make you feel odd one out at times. Good idea to have a "Feminine day" now and again.

Lovely weather again - just going to peg out the washing andthe. get cracking.. A little light retail therapy after my Physio perhaps??

    Have a great day....

So pleased your exam went well in the end Shandy. That invigilator needs to learn a thing or two about putting people at ease for exams though, very poor behaviour. I think I'd complain to the OU but you've probably got enough on your plate as it is. You must be appalled at all the stuff about BHS coming out from the Select Committee. No surprise that employees are leaving. Are you looking for something else?

I have to say my DH is behaving quite well at the moment.;)That's probably because I can be fairly laid back about things but I have my ways of getting what I want if it's really important. He's very busy at the moment with his job/hobby and the back garden is like a jungle but there are plans to sort it out a bit when we get back from holiday so I can live with that. It helps not to have to add to DD1's workload and ask her to come round and do watering so I'm not complaining. We have plans to extend the kitchen, revamp the garden, possibly buy a new car and do some more decorating. I could take the lead myself in all those things but I'm reluctant to. I think we'll be having many conversations over dinner when we're away.

I think the day off a week for yourself is a great idea ellsbel. Go for it! I think one of the reasons my DH is good around the house (he does all the cleaning for example) is because of his mother. He's one of 11 but the 5 eldest are all boys so MIL didn't differentiate, everyone had to muck in and help whether boys or girls. Plus I think his childhood home was fairly chaotic so he's determined his own is going to be neat and tidy. I sometimes think he vacuums whether it needs it or not but I'm happy to let him get on with it.

I've got an appointment with the chiropodist later and I'll do a few bits of shopping while I'm in the city centre. It's more expensive than a pedicure but they do a much better job of my nails. I'll paint them myself later. It's strange how nail polish always lasts better on toes than fingers.

Hey I just accidentally stumbled into this thread, just a quick thought occurred, something myself and mates often mention - if women put the time they spend on treatments / pedicures / nails / hair, into exercise, they would have nice tight bodies like East European women tend to. We'll take a tight body over extra glossy nails any day, lol.

20 minutes high intensity exercise daily is all you need - you can also do high intensity 'low impact' on some / all days if you prefer.

This is better than 1 hour per day doing 'ordinary' exercise such as on a mountain climber machine unless you go totally nuts on it.

The best Youtube vids for this IMO are by Christine Khurie (I'm a long time MSE person - I never promote anything, this is just be being ermmm helpful)

Match the speed she does - this is key to getting the best bod you ever had and hugely better results are gained compared with old school aerobics stuff

Would this be ALL Eastern European women then........:rotfl:

How about all those "Babushkas" I see every day in my city, including my lovely neighbour who at just the age of 52 looks old and flabby enough to be my mother (and I'm pushing 65:rotfl:).

In general many Eastern European do not retain their "nice tight bodies" any longer than we more so called slothful Brits do.

So if you don't mind I will keep my nails nice and glossy for now. i like them. ;)

However, your remarks about high intensity exercise are in some ways correct.

Having watched his programme on TV I bought Dr Michael Mosleys book "Fast Exercsie". There are certainly health benefits to short bursts of high intensity exercise and it seems to be time effective giving good results for minimum output.

For me exercise isn't just about cardio and fat busting.

Like a lot of our ladies I also like to incorporate Pilates and/or yoga to help strengthen and lengthen muscles and keep me supple. PIlates can be particularly useful in helping the fight against "old age shrinkage", whilst yoga and tai'chi help older bodies remain supple and flexible. They help maintain core stability, essential for helping with balance - another issue that affects us as we age - males and females alike.

And then of course there are weight bearing and resistance exercises which are so essential for maintaining bone density and helping us combat osteoporosis. Running obviously but walking and dancing are just as effective and as far as I am concerned, infinitely more enjoyable.

Swimming fulfills the three fundamental exercise "S's" - strength, stamina and suppleness.

I think I speak for a lot of the ladies on here. For most of us exercise isn't just about "nice tight bodies" - although that would be a nice little bonus :rotfl: - it's more about trying to maintain physical health, help promote emotional well being and hopefully fend off the dreaded Alzheimer's........

I think perhaps you haven't read the thread in its entirety and therefore are not fully conversant with its remit - namely Fabulousity - in all its Forms.......

If you think Fabbing is just about the perfect manicure then you have misunderstood our mission.

But thanks for your input - I think you are the first man to post, so well done for stepping into the "lioness's den" :rotfl:

Shandy - I agree - that invigilator was bang out of order. A good talking to is required.......

Anyway well done on persevering and I hope you get the result you want. It's a very stressful and worrying time for you. Take care of yourself through all this.

Well I was well and truly pummelled today and feel quite sore, but my muscles do feel looser. I think I will have a magnesium bath before bed.

Healthy eating going well. Did an aldi shop today so lots of healthy stuff in the fridge. Feeling a lot less bloated and my ankles don't seem to be swelling as much, even in this hot weather, so I must be making progress.

Apparently the Belguim trip is back on........:rotfl:

I have now lost 3 pounds of my 4 pound weight gain. :j

There are so many lovely pampering products out there, but now I am trying some of them for myself and discovering how much fun it is to spend time on myself, pampering myself and relaxing. I have also finally mastered the art of guilt free spending when it comes to pampering myself. :D

I got 2 Dove 400ml body lotions on 2 for £5 in Boots (usually £5.98 each) and also 6 150ml Dove Pampering body oils for £15 also on the 2 for £5 offer. :j The body oil comes highly recommended but It usually costs £8.99, so I could hardly believe my eyes when I saw it on offer online. I checked availability in my local stores and left to buy some of these offers before the stock ran out. I noticed that in store the offer is not shown anywhere in store, so I was so glad I knew of this offer before I went to my local Boots

As regards "tight bodies" and pleasing men, I think the whole point of this thread is to feel good about ourselves, for ourselves!
Maman lovely to have those kind of exciting plans to make:) I'm staggered at the idea of your OH being one of 11 children! What a houseful! Christmas must have been expensive;)
I seem to have picked up a tummy bug from somewhere; it kept me awake a lot of the night, and coupled with me being a bit cheesed off anyway with constantly picking up after everyone, it's made up my mind that I'm going to park myself on a lounger in the garden with a book for a while in a bit:)
In honour of fab Friday I'm wearing a pretty black tee and lemon yellow trousers today and had ballet pumps and my shades on when I was out and about earlier.
Sugarbaby well done on the weightloss and the bargains!

    Good morning lovely ladies......

Well I don't wish to sound negative be that elephant is looking very big today........:o

I am shattered, a mass of aches and pains and just thoroughly cheesed off.

Nothing in particular.......no major panics or anything just exhausted and at odds with the world, including myself. The mood I'm in I could pick a fight with myself:rotfl:

I'm am fed up because I'm not losing any weight. I know, I'm very impatient. At least I'm not putting more on so that's a positive.

Rain forecast so I've just planted a last few bedding plants and then put everything away and cleared up in readiness.

Just had brunch so will have a little break and then do some tidying up and tackle the ironing. Going to have a another little Kondo session in my bedroom, get rid of some old knitwear etc.

I only have quite a small room here and I have a large ottoman at the foot of the bed. I have decided it takes up far too much room so am going to have a bit of a sort out, move stuff around and see if I can empty it so I can get rid of it. I Broke the lid the other day so I'll just ditch it.

Having a good Kondo session might improve my mood. :rotfl:

Actually I've just been chastising myself and feeling that I'm not getting anywhere. When I come to think of it I've had a major paperwork declutter, bought some plants, got them in the garden and I have also been running round to DS1s house watering the garden and looking after the house whilst they are on honeymoon.

So maybe I'm not just a hopeless sad sloth after all. .......

Sugarbaby - the well done on the weight loss and what fab Dove bargains. :D

    Fab Friday. Enjoy.
