My kitchen now has lovely new flooring in bleached oak and looks lovely even if it is a bare shell at the moment. The cabinets arrived last night and I have three builders in the kitchen at the moment.
Once the builders have gone I am having a nice long shower and shampoo and looking out an outfit to wear to SW tonight. I don't expect to lose weight as a few packets of crisps leapt into my mouth.:o
I am hoping to have a working kitchen this weekend and be able to wash dishes, do laundry etc. and even cook properly at last. I can hear discussions as to what unit goes where and am keeping out of it."This site is addictive!"

ELona - How exciting ........Your house renovations seem to be cracking along now. You won't know what to do with yourself when it's all finsihed..,,:rotfl:
It's chucking it down now, yesterday's downpour revealed a problem with the guttering. Think it's just blocked. My "little man what does" will come out at the weekend to have a look. I also want hi. To quote for some hard landscaping in the garden. Technically my son could do it but I'll get a price and we can decide then. I'm tempted to just pay someone TBH and get it finished.
I need to go to B&Q - it's "Old Biddy 10 per cent off day" - as my son so charmingly puts it. Got to get some fenceand masonry paint.
Who said house renovating wasnt glamourous!! :rotfl:
Feel a bit tired and lethargic this morning so might just have a relatively easy day. Got to drop some stuff off at the Chazzer and get a few bits from Sainsbobs whilst I'm out.
Smart casual and a raincoat today. :rotfl:0 -
Morning fabbers.
I'm working from home today. I have a really boring e-filing task to complete and I'm about 1/4 of the way through it. I've decided to have a quick break and pop on here to see what everyone is up to. As I'm at home, I want a really comfy day, so I'm in jogging bottoms.0 -
Hello Ladies,
I had a horrible tummy bug from Friday evening to Monday evening. I had to take a sick day on Monday which was a nuisance as I will not be paid, but I felt so awful, I simply could not go to work.
The sun is shining in London and I am feeling so much better today.
My washing machine gave up the ghost on Sunday. It was insured thank goodness, so as the engineer that visited on Monday decided that it was 'beyond economical repair' I will be getting a cheque for the full purchase price of my old washing machine of £259.99 within 10 days. :j
I bought a new Hoover washing machine yesterday, from a local supplier and it was delivered, connected and my old washing machine disconnected and taken away for recycling all for only £299.99. I had to have 2 men for the delivery, disposal of old washing machine etc as I live in a maiosnette which meant lots of stairs to be negotiated. Even after only 1 day of use, it is the best washing machine I have ever owned.I really did receive the most outstanding customer service from this local retailer.
I had to use £300 from my savings, but will be able to replace the money before July when I finish work for the Summer break.0 -
Hello Ladies,
Just popping in to say Hi.
Still fabbing whenever I can, being on the 'no unnecessary toiletries' thread helps, as it nudges me to actually use products I have, so I can just buy my 'holy grail' products once things are used up, and hopefully adopt a bit more of a minimalist life style.
The days seem to all be running into one another with things so busy at work. The 'Closing Down, Everything Must Go' went up tonight - Tacky, lurid yellow signs that completely clash with the whole interior of the store. It was too much for some of the staff that have been there 15 - 20 years, and tears were shed.Trying to stay positive for some who are struggling. We have had it pretty easy compared the the head office that went from 500 staff to 17 overnight!
Day off tomorrow, I am running about putting together a little gift bag for a co worker who's leaving to go on to be a TA. I thought to create a 'Teacher Assistant survival pack' :rotfl: . So far its got chapstick, hand sanitizer, mini wet wipes, hand cream and chocolate in a little case, anyone have any other suggestions?
MaddieMay I'd be interested in what make up look you use. My eyes have deteriorated in the last year with hours of study. I could get away with not wearing glasses before, but not now. I have very small 'piggy' eyes anyway, so once I have glasses on its like my eyes just disappear. I am usually just a mascara girl, but I think I am going to have to start using eyeshadow too. Any tips you have I'd really appreciate. No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. Epiphany on 4/4/14 - went into shop to buy 2 items, walked out with 17!0 -

Hi all:) just popped in quickly to suggest something alone the same lines as pink Poppy's thinking, shandy
- I thought maybe some aromatherapy balm or something like that - you know the kind you rub on wrists and temples?
Also, if she has longer hair, maybe a pretty hair tie in case she needs to scoop it up whilst doing activities?0 -
Shandy - its sad about the demise of BHS, although I must admit, other than a beach bag I bought last year, I rarely shopped in BHS.
In terms of your colleague who has got a job as a TA what about a pen, for marking work and some gold star stickers (DS loves getting stickers for good work at school).
maddie - I have no idea about eye make up, but I will be keeping an eye on this thread in case anyone comes up with some suggestions.
sugar - I had to replace my washing machine earlier this year and I've already had problems with it. Pleased yours is good.0 -
Hello everyone.......chucking it down here again so will crack on decluttering the study.
Took a couple of bags of unwanted clothes and bric a brac to the Chazzer yesterday. Whilst there I bought a fab flight/overnight bag. Really nice soft squashy leather, brand new still with labels (Cotton Traders) for just £13. Bargain and much posher than my current canvas one.
Just need to book a few overnight trips now......:rotfl:
Not much happening. Bought some fence paint but obviously not going to use that today. Will need to wait for the next dry spell.
Going to view a little bungalow tonight. Not sure TBH - the kitchen looks very small on the pics but I'll go and have a look.
Shandy......I agree it's sad about BHS. Ours was on the same section of street as both Woolies and C&A. All gone now.0 -
ll how did the viewing go today?0
