    Hi Fabbers,

I have been keeping up to date with the thread, but haven't been on recently, as I've been caught up with other stuff.

Shandy sorry you are having stressful time at the moment.
Sugar well done on the weightloss and bargains
Ellsbell your comment about the National Trust inspired me to look on the English Heritage site as I'm a member and there is an event this weekend, which I think we'll take the children to.

Things are fine in the Chanie house - nothing exciting happening, but in my opinion, that's good news. A few things to update:

Weightloss - hasn't even started. I really need to get a move on, as we go on holiday in 7 weeks. I really need to sit down and come up with a plan.

Fabbing - A mum from DS's school look amazing in ripped jeans, a blazer and red lipstick. She said once her youngest became more independent (when he started school) things became so much easier for her. I really need to get fabbing in the mornings again!!!

I've had to through away two pairs of jeans, as they have worn through at the thigh - another reason to get back onto the fabbing. I've had both pairs for about 3-4 years, so they have both lasted well.

Holiday packing I have a suitcase of clothes that I only wear on holiday, so that forms the basis of my holiday wardrobe and I just add a few extra bits and pieces. I try to pack lightly for holidays as we will have to unpack when we get home and I hate doing that. Plus, we share suitcases with the children, so we have to pack lightly.

I have been out of action for over a week - or rather my laptop has as a large glass of soft drink collided with it!!!!

I had hoped to get myself in shape while the house was taking shape but for about ten days the kitchen has been a tap, a microwave and an electric lidded fry pan. Once the kitchen is fitted and working and carpets are down in the master bedroom and living room I can start to empty the removal boxes and sort and Kondo as I go. I have lost four and a half pounds of the 12 pounds I put back on which is something.

The large freezer is full of meat and fish as I found an offer from mus*le fo*ds to get a hundred and fifty pounds worth of food for £75 and was very impressed by the quality. I go to slimming world and have found it helpful in focussing myself. For the last week I have been trying to avoid wheat, bread, rolls, cereals, pastry etc and don't feel as constantly hungry as a result.

I treated myself to an expensive epilator and my legs now look much better and I got my hair cut into a shorter bob at the weekend. The half price or less sales resulted in an online shop over the last few weeks which resulted in two pairs of smart jeans, a patterned black and white coat, a blue smart jacket with white piping and a blue rain jacket with a detachable hood. I am still in the obese category but at least I am a size 18 rather than the 22 ish I used to be.

I like the idea of not being a frump any more and just "being comfortable in my skin" will be fantastic.

    Hugs to all

  • Hi I'm sorry but I'm not sure if I'm in the right place and I can't figure out how to start a post so I'm hopeing that someone might be able to help me on this thread. When I was 19 I had a cesrian section and then when I was 26 I was diagnosed with cancer and had to have a historectomy and it has left me with a three inch flap of lose skin that hangs over the top of my jeans skirts and anything else I wear. I can't afford a tummy tuck and was wondering if there was any other way of either hiding or getting rid of this skin as it is now affecting me not wanting to even go out of the house because every time I do I feel like people are staring at me and some teenagers in the park when I was walking my dogs started to shout horrible things at me. Please help me I'm desperate. I'm not normally vain but this is really getting me down. Thank you for your time for at least reading this. Many thanks Michelle Smart.

    Hi Ellie

    Welcome.

Sorry to hear of your health issues, especially as they happened when you were so young. I am glad that you are well now and whilst I can understand your disappointment re the loose skin I guess, in the grand scheme of things, it's a small price to pay to save your life.

Having said that I can appreciate that it troubles you. Have you spoken to your GP about this. Is there any chance you could be offered corrective surgery on the NHS. After all I know breast cancer survivors are sometimes give this option. After a mastectomy some women are offered reconstructive surgery - if it is medically possible.

I would start there, with your GP.

Another possibility is you pay for a consultation - again going via your GP for a recommendation. Sometimes a consultant has more say in who is and who is not eligible for NHS greatmeant. So even if you have to pay to see a consultant he/she might be able to add you to their NHS list anyway. (My father in law did this once for non cancerous prostrate treatment). The consultant argued that it could become cancerous if treatment was delayed. .

A consultants fee is generally somewhere around the £150/£200.

Even if you do have to eventually end up paying for surgery I know that the Nuffield hospitals can help arrange finance with interest fee loans so that might be an option at some point in the future when your finances improve.

Please don't be tempted to just choose a clinic from an advert, please go through the proper medical channels.

In the meantime would body shapers help. You can get "all in ones" or long line ones rather than just magic pants.

And I guess you need to "dress round the issue". Perhaps avoiding thin flimsy fabrics and anything too clingy and also possibly "layering" might help. I find that wearing those very thin strapped vest type tops under shirts and fine knitwear helps to hide all my lumps and bumps, especially if they are made of stretchy or heavy cotton.

I'm sorry people have been shouting horrible things to you. Not very nice but try not to let them drag you down. Concentrate on the good things in your life.

    Hello ladies.
Glad things are well with you, chanie.
    Some good buys there, Elona!
Hi Ellie. Sorry to hear about your health problems. I agree with LL that maybe your Doctor should be your first call; if this is causing you mental stress and unhappiness then it may be that you could be considered a candidate for having corrective surgery on the nhs - it's worth asking him/her for some advice, anyway?
Don't take those cruel comments to heart; focus on you and making yourself feel good - people like that are to be pitied anyway, imo, as I really believe that you must be very unhappy inside to want to inflict hurt on others.
There are some lovely floaty tops around at the moment that you could maybe look at, as well as the shape wear that LL suggested?

Nothing to report here on the fabbing front - in fact, I have to confess that I'm going to take a "day off" today:o - "dress down Tuesday" as it were:D
I had a session of reorganising the lounge furniture yesterday and getting rid of a couple of items and I want to carry on through the rest of the rooms now! I don't really have anything to go out for once I've driven DS2 to school and had a walk with the dog, so it's bare face and old jeans today for continued house fabbing.
At some point today I'm also going to pinch the notebook idea ;) - I'm going to sit down with a pad and pen and do some brainstorming to come up with ideas and goals for what I want to do next; I need to rediscover my joie de vivre!:rotfl:
Weight loss is my big priority right now though. I ended up signing up for WW online yesterday. I would prefer to follow SW as I think overall, it's a better approach, but realistically the meetings are going to be difficult for me to get to, given where they are and the times, so if I'm going to follow the plan at home, then WW online tools are quite good and there is an online community should I want to use it. I feel like it's last chance saloon for me on the dieting front - if I don't crack it now I'll end up giving up and accepting myself as a "fat" person, and I don't want that to happen.
Right, best throw some washing in! Have a good day, fabbers:)

I need to stay around the house for a potential delivery this morning, so think I will alternate Kondoing some weeds and some more clothes, 2 bags ready for the CS, but I expect I can add to them.

After lunch I will fab up a little and pop into town with the donations and pick up some odds and ends from the shops.

Meal plan done for the next few days, so hopefully will be kondoing some of my food stocks too.

I have got a little lax about wearing eye make up again, but being a wearer of specs and pale, I look and certainly feel so much better when I do.

Hi Ellie - some great advice here, I hope that you will be able to start feeling better about yourself soon.
