Unsure why German is a must have...I recently bought an Indesit Innex - 9kg load, with 60m/30m options and the "idiot button", ie a blue button you just press for a 50m wash at 30°/1200 spin; max load 4kg I think.

Under £280 and came with 6 months worth of ariel wash tabs.

So far, am well chuffed with it.

AEG is not German built or designed, it's just a brand of Electrolux...so basically a Hotpoint with a different badge on it.
There is no connection between Electrolux & Hotpoint.

    Ha!
From someone who starts a thread about their overflowing toilet!
    (Explains a lot actually..)
If you find it so tiresome I suggest you don't contribute to this thread .

Eh? If my post seemed sarcastic that wasn't my intention. I am actually quite enjoying the discussion, and thought I'd made some helpful contributions. Not actually even sure what you mean about starting a thread about toilets, but I will take your suggestion on board.

My Bosch Maxx5 has gone wonky. I've had it about 6 years (cost about £300).

It made a loud bang while spinning and the drum now spins off-centre, although it still works, but there are tiny bits of plastic/gunge on the washing and sometimes it has a metal smell on it.

I guess it's knackered and not worth repairing?

It sounds like the drum support (spider) has broken & the inner metal drum is taking chunks out of the plastic outer drum as it flops about. You could always get quotes for repairs but personally I wouldn't bother.

Thanks. Yeah, I was thinking it might be best to go for a new one. Just had a quick look and the replacement part plus labour will probably cost anything up to £100.

Edit: Just ordered a new Indesit from AO £199 delivered which arrives on Thursday and dumping the Bosch at the recycling centre tomorrow.

Any advice would be great. I believe I need to buy a German made machine, I can't afford a Miele this time so any advice or deals would be good . Thanks in advance

If you didn't yet get a washer the Hotpoint clearance website has a 35% discount code in MSE's latest email.

I think that is the one I am looking at. My Hotpoint which is nearing 6 years old is on it's last legs. Is it the one with a 1600 spin speed.
