New washing machine needed

3 Filters? Are you sure normally you have the cloth bag, then the pre motor filter then the exhaust filter. These filters come with every set of 5 replacement bags so it's not like you have to pay extra for them. And change both filters either with the first new bag or the last in the set. Doesn't the Dyson need new filters that cost quite a lot?
Just checked and it has a gauze pre filter, bag and a charcoal cartridge filter. The charcoal one is suppose to help stop pet odours in the exhaust. To be honest that part is rubbish doesn't stop the exhaust smelling "doggy" and it needs replacing every 4 months or so at a cost of £20-00 plus the bags. The cartridge is showing it will need replacing in about 2 months from now so less than 4 months. Based on that it will cost roughly £75-100 a year in cartridge filters and bags. We only have a small house and a Border Terrier.
The Dyson filter is washable and we use to replace it once a year but not because it needed it. On balance ,so far I'm not impressed with the Miele. It's a bag change indicator not a bag full indicator. If you check the instructions it will say that it will show when in operation but to actually check if the bag needs changing then remove the hose from the actual body of the cleaner then turn on to full power, then if the indicator fills the window then it needs changing otherwise it's fine. So basically ignore the indicator during actual use as it will always say the bag needs changing.0 -
The charcoal exhaust filters are OK but are not miracle workers.
You should have had a plastic frame thingy originally with the cleaner, see if you can find it. It's the same shape as the charcoal filter. If you chuck out the charcoal filter then fit this frame in its place then you can use the regular filters which come with the bags, these are perfectly fine.

This is exactly the sort of machine I wouldn't buy. It's right in between budget and Miele.
When it goes wrong, as of course they all do, the cost to fix is probably around £150. That's a difficult decision as to whether to repair or replace, especially if it's a few years old. If it was a £1000 Miele then it's obvious - repair. If it's a £250 XXXX then replace. The mid-range price makes it a real 50/50 as to this choice.
Just my 2p worth. I would say that if you opt budget end, do lots of research as to owners' opinions -Which? can help with "how good is it on 1 test wash" but not how it is after the 100th.
Yes I think I am heading that way.
I think I might go for one of the John Lewis ones a kind person put a link to above, though I know one of the Bosch ones is Spanish I don't want to pay more than is sensible .0 -

Your maths is bad, how is £649 pounds a lot nearer to £500 than £400, are you on commission from Miele whenever a question about washing machines is asked on these forums you pop out of the woodwork try to sell them and extolling there virtues, despite people saying they cannot afford them or do not even want one.
What are you going on about?
I shouldn't have to say this as you are an experienced forum contributer like me.
People come on this forum asking questions and seeking advice! Where am I trying to sell a Miele washing machine to them? My identity is hidden and nowhere do I refer to my company name.
I contribute with my advice as someone that has worked within the appliance industry for more than 25 years for both retailers and manufacturers. If you look at my other posts you will see that I comment on quite a variety of things in the home that I have knowledge of.
I think you are mistaking my knowledge and passion for the Miele brand as something else.

PS - How is my 'maths bad'? If you have £500 in your pocket then you are closer to £649 than if you just had £400 in your pocket!0 -

But you do not given advice you just promote Miele and dismiss all other makes despite people saying they cannot afford them, you may not promote your company but you admit you are a kitchen designer, I wonder how many of your customers are persuaded to spend more money than they want by your sales pitch.
Some times in life you have to spend a bit more than you initially thought you would have to, to get what you actually want!0
