    :j Everyone's doing so well!

Came in from t'office and changed clothes and loaded the pushbike and went off to the tip.

Exit one of the three boom-boxes (the one which was Kid Bruv's). Then onto the lottie to offload 30-odd seed potatoes which have been sitting in eggboxes on my one small table for weeks.

I had been trying to figure out the best way to transport them without knocking the shoots off, then remembered a square wicker basket about 8 inches deep which I'd emptied in the bedroom kondo. Grabbed that and it took the egg boxes flat - this was half the total and the rest will go tomorrow after w*rk or on Saturday when the actual planting is due to take place.

I don't really need a car as I live and work in the centre of an eminently walkable smallish city, but when I come to the need to cart random things around, I have to apply my ingenuity to getting the best result.

Tomorrow, I may see if the other boom-box which is cluttering up the floor can go tomorrow (once I find its remote control) and then that will be a bit more space in my life.

The third one (the one which was Nan's and which does the funny speed thing) will be staying until I can get a replacement. Shopping will be involved which is not one of my favourite things.

Hokay, cuppa's waiting and a friend just rang and will be here in 2 mins for a goss.

I have a coat which is over 40 years old. A raincoat, made in the uk in broxbourne, a waterproof coat that truly covered me properly. My go- to raincoat when I was taking (walking always) children to school. It was big and mediumsize and still covers me well and even after all those years is as good as new. The company was three jay
Coat like this but much smaller

Amazing how well some of the old style clothes, made in uk, have lasted and were fit for purpose and tbh I am very glad to have it

Maybe one day I`ll move GQ, as long as I get a big garden, to grow my own fruit and veg. I have a bike trailer, ready and waiting and am happy to cycle everywhere. Cannot do that here as the main roads surrounding the village and environs, are too busy, even for the lycra clad and the only ways out are up hills that are about 1 in 6

DD came over today and helped me to put her stuff in the loft. She also sorted out loads of her 'stuff' that was lurking in her room. 4 bin bags have gone and she has taken 6 pairs of shoes with her along with some other bits and pieces. Really happy that something has at last gone out.

The chair she didn't want to leave in the flat she is renting out has been taken upstairs and just about fits in the bedroom, I'll have a think about how to move things around but at least it's out of the hallway.

I'm loving hearing how you're getting things shared out MMF, must be a good feeling.

Hi GQ, since you Freagle items are you allowed to ask for a new boombox? If not ask on Freecycle. Work on the principle of what goes round comes round.

:o My parents have told me that I can have the money to pay for the boom-box as an early birthday present and really want me to buy a new one.

Unbelievable... as i have been shopping over the past couple of weeks i have been getting the odd bit here and there for our caravan holiday including sweets as the onsite shops are horrendous. Today I accidently forgot to put the sweets in the tub and my greedy little piggies have kondoed them!

I think we have our caravan break down to a tee. We have a box with the useful bits [e.g. cards] that just gets put in the car, inside the lid is THE list of bits that are useful that are often forgotten. As the box comes with us then we used to add things to remember for the next one. It even has a poncho in! The slow cooker comes so that we care not cooking all the time and can spend time together.

not done much KD this week but hoping to crack on in the holidays.

yay, kind parents GQ, must be so in tune to know exactly what you want :)

It is going to be a nice day today, so I am out on my bike after the cs. Two laps around the village today. I am finding that cycling is not taking that much effort, just a bit puffy, which is the best way at my age. GQ, have you ever cleaned your bike chain? I did mine a few days ago and my allotment bike was a different creature yesterday, so much smoother and less friction. Easy to do but needs lubricating afterwards notch by notch. I used ceramic muk off lube after degreaser. Normally 3rd gear up a small hill but 5th gear yesterday :cheesy:

It is important to get out, while the weather is nice and while we can. Kondo can wait for a grey day and we have many. Body says get out, so I do, sometimes body says short nap and I do. I just try to ignore when body says nibble

tibawo, good idea re the cards. Knit witch, tlc needed for you, nothing else, major stuff for your body to repair, hope all goes well. No `must do`s` health first and obviously rest as you have major healing work in progress

:) I don't think I've ever cleaned a bike chain in my life, kittie, although I do oil it occasionally. Before doing such a thing, I would have to work out how to get the chain case off - P@shley Princess - and I haven't felt the urge to do that. Somehow, there's always something more urgent to do.

I have some annual leave after Easter, mebbe I'll look into it then.

Found the remote for the second of the three boom-boxes (the one of mine which would be 19 come this May) and have now de-batteried that and taped it to the machine which is bagged and ready to go.

Don't know about others but I find that I am much more likely to do an errand in the post-work slump if I have prepared everything beforehand and can just grab-and-go.

Shaping up to be another lovely day, shame about the work, but I will be able to spend some time gently pottering on the plot this evening. Yestereve, as things were bone dry, I got out the wood treatment can and re-did the (home-built, wooden) cold-frame and a couple of posts. The frame needs two of its side planks re-done so I've given Mum the measurement and asked her to forage in the wood store (their third and smallest back yard shed) for something suitable.

My cold-frame was built in the spring of 2011 from timber Mum & I wombled from a fly-tipped shed which we found at Xmas 2010 in their neighbourhood. I thought Dad would go nuts as we were having to drag huge bits of wood through the house to get into the backyard, but I think he was relieved in a way.

Mum was diagnosed with BC at the start of that Sept, finished treatment in early Dec and, I reckon, if he saw her wombling timber for a project, he knew that she was back to her usual self!:rotfl:

GQ does your local tip/recycling plant do anything with the electricals? I was a bit puzzled as to why you've put the remote with it......at our local place it's one huge skip for anything with a plug and it's open to the elements so nothing could be reused in its original capacity. I'd always assumed they sold the scrap off to a country that will extract the metals from circuit boards. I'd like to know that somewhere they do things differently and at least give goods a second chance if possible.

Need to kondo DD1's bedroom this weekend, it's mainly clear but a few bits need rehoming. She wasn't due back from Uni until mid may/June time but managed to land herself her dream job at a local company yesterday and starts Monday (only a few last bits of uni work to hand in and no lectures etc left)....far to good an opportunity to pass up. So she'll be home during the week and heading back to her Uni digs at weekends to use the library, have a break from the horrors of being back in the parental home etc.

Knitwitch - hope you're healing, sounds like a very painful position to be in x
