KonMari 2016 - The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up

clootie, Oh that made me so happy too. The universe is so small and we are affecting each other. Honestly it made my heart sing
Lizzie, I cut out anything I wanted to keep and filed them all but the files do take room, albeit a lot more tidy
and now the embarrassing bit and how kondo can open a can of worms, how one thing leads to another:EasterBun
:eek::o:eek:
I just `found` trousers, after I was so proud of myself having taken five pairs up last week and taking some to the cs. I feel like whispering but I will own up. I have 35 pairs of usable trousers including my one allotment pair, I feel like I am in an addicts meeting. I blooming wear the same few things every day in the house. I did buy some linen pairs for my one and only cruise after panic set in over clothes. Ok I will be fine if we get very hot weather. I am mortified, however they fit and will have to wait their turn. None are going apart from the three pairs of velvet house trousers, which are new, never worn, far too warm
I like everything I am keeping, including those warm coats but I am giving away two full length, hardly worn, puffa coats that make me look like michelin man
Solving this problem is not going to be easy but I bear in mind that it is only me using the wardrobes now, so spreading is ok. I have started to arrange in a way which means that I will see and use what I have, eg all cardigans, body warmers and shorter jackets are together. Cruise clothes are on their own, neatly hanging in a small wardrobe, also funeral clothes in there too.
I am definitely not buying clothes, stopped quite a while ago but am not about to waste what is nice and fits, not while I have room particularly as my figure is hard to fit. . Oh sigh, hand on head, I haven`t even opened the boxes of summer clothes yet  going to face it head on, after lunch and some chocolate0 -
Dear GoingToDoIt - I know what you are going through. I was Kondo'ed by my family (2 ugly cousins and their mother) after I spoke out against one of them being cruel to wildlife. When I later got diagnosed with Breast Cancer and needed some family medical history I was told by the mother that they didn't want anything to do with me ever and she put the phone down on me. When I was going through chemo I got 'anonymous' threatening emails etc - so when I was well enough I took steps to Kondo them all completely (not murder!) from any further cyber contact and made sure my will is watertight against any claims from them and although it hurt at first it was the best thing I've done.
And going back to my previous post about letting agents being the scum of the earth - they have gone and put the rent up again!!! I have sent them a "Don't Mess with Me" and "Get it Sorted" email - can't wait till I Kondo them - roll on the end of May :jFlowers are sunshine for the soul0 -
Lizzie you should be able to convert or save photo files to pdf on your laptop. Also, have a look on fleabay for pricing - I sold some random craft mags last year, much to my surprise.
Yeah - I'll look into converting the files - hadn't thought of that thanks - the files will take up a lot less room that way!! I'm hoping I could sell them afterwards - had a look on fleabay and it seems that if you sell them in lots they tend to sell. Single mags didn't seem to be getting any bids. Won't make a fortune, but it's more about clearing them out and maybe getting a bit of money towards embroidery threads. I recently sold some sheets of stickers (partly used) on there - the buyer was delighted with them!! It is surprising what sells some times.0 -

:rotfl: This really made me chuckle Kittie! At least you'll be OK for something to wear if you can't use your washing machine for any reason0 -
Kittie 35 pairs of trousers - I went and counted mine and I have 28. Far too many for me and tho they all fit I think some of them may go to the next Good as New sale as I can never find the pair I want.0

I've got 4 pairs - seeing as I can wash, dry and pop them back in the drawer within a couple of hours, that'll do me."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0

Thanks Poppy, I'm sure "both sides" would claim to be the wronged party, as they do in my scenario, although the intermittent phone/email abuse comes fromthe other side, in both our cases!
My various channels are blocked, although of course my address is the same. But just not having to think about them and listen to their moaning and complaining all the time- it's a good thing!Jan 20 - NST challenge

We had a new boiler fitted at the weekend. It came in two boxes - one contained the boiler itself, the other, the flue.
I remarked to OH that we could put the boxes out with the recycling, but he demurred, saying perhaps we should keep them for a month or so in case the boiler went wrong....
DS gently pointed out to OH that if it went wrong we wouldn't be taking it off the wall and sending it back - we'd be ringing to get an engineer to come and fix it under the warranty
One box therefore went out with the recycling yesterday, and the other, which I couldn't reach, will go next week.0 -
I am sure I had some psychology going on, like buying gave me pleasure. Much was bought after my husband died, when money and saving meant nothing at all. Got through that now and am ok and normal re psychology. It was like writing stuff down and then burning the notes, that was what buying and ultimately giving away can be compared to, for me. A kind of release, maybe that is why I kept putting stage two of clothes sorting off. This was mega compared to stage one and best of all I did it happily
I have done all the boxes, which are now empty and re-done drawers, except underwear and nighties. In process I free`ed up three whole drawers and ended up with a clothes mountain to give away. The empty spaces gave me that space I needed for t shirts and lightweight jumpers, all properly folded with a folding device and neatly stashed in rows. I must say that I am very pleased with progress today, the fact that I was able to release so many things that may well help other people too0 -
Another good vicarious kondo! My client who is now in a care home has just had a lot more clothes fetched from her old home. A lot were crammed in drawers so she couldn't see what was where and they were all scrumpled. She asked me to help her sort them out and hang some in the (quite full) wardrobe.
Well you don't have to ask me twice!!
I have just spent a happy 1.5 hours emptying drawers, sorting clothes into type, reallocating to appropriate drawers, and of course, kondo-folding them. There is even room for a few other tops when they come back from the laundry. Oh it felt so good and my client was delighted at the difference it made. Hooray for MK :T
Oh, I almost forgot, she decided to get rid of rather bulky bed jacket. I suggested that her friend, who I also work for, may like it. So, another Marie-go-round will happen tomorrow.
Anyway, the weekend starts here for me an i'm feeling good :rotfl:I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.0
