Roofer has been this morning, and says our loft is a lot dryer than many he has seen, but is going to give us a quote for putting in a vent tile just to give us a bit more air circulation.

hope you are feeling somewhat better GQ. You sound more like your old self
I only did a touch of KM yesterday but nevertheless got some done and will carry on in the same vein for a while. I am amazed at being able to put things away eg online wholefood order, went straight into kitchen cupboards :j and that is a first for me, normally they would just swell my stores. Fish order is arriving later and I have a free freezer drawer
MK has given me a new frame of mind and it is no longer accumulative. The `want` is still lurking, like the rug saga but if I get eventual enjoyment then so what! Speaking of which, I sat longways on my soft rug on my sofa, propped up by a large cushion, with a reading light behind me, a book on my lap, in my dressing gown and with a heat pad on my neck. It was blissful and luxurious, not had such cosiness for a long time. I think I needed it.
Today? A similar quiet vein, I have been looking at alexander technique on youtube and it is about a `string` pulling my head up, rather than supported by my neck. It is absolutely helping as is not getting over tired or doing too much. I am going back to some reading today instead of that ingrained,` always must be doing something`0 -

There was a hornet flying around up there, are they solitary or should we be looking for a possible nest?It will be a queen looking for a nest site at this time of year, I'm afraid. If you want to have the continued use of your loft between now and late autumn, you need to keep an eye out and make sure she's not nesting.
kittie, thank you, I've had a better night and should be able to take phone calls at work today - for the past two days I've been too poorly to speak and have been exclusively answering email enquiries. Da Management is having to work around a poorly workforce this spring, we do our best, but it's been difficult all round.
Plans are to drop into pal's shop after work for a quick chat and to return 4 magazines which I borrowed, a small subtraction of clutter on the premises.
Other than that, it's just dealing with the daily drag-in and turning stuff around into the recycling. I intend to plant 4 kg of seed spuds this coming weekend, which will mean the egg cartons which have been holding them on my table for the past 7 weeks can finally go - really looking forward to having my space back again.I may even aim to get a few boom-boxes outta here.
Have a good day, everybody, GQ xEvery increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

There wasn't much under DD's bed :T
She wants to keep the two under bed storage boxes (all that was there) so we will have to store them until new bed comes home. But one had an empty storage box inside it that I have snaffled for the melamine plates and plastic glasses from the caravan. This will go in the loft and if, when OH retires, we don't buy a new caravan then I will get rid.
Nearly all caravan stuff has been allocated space now. There is just a box of 'outside' stuff that OH needs to deal with :T
We use letting agents for our 2 student properties (which are our pension), they are ok but then they have an annual turnover of students to deal with (few houses get follow on rentals in student ville - ha, that autocorrected to student vile :rotfl:). We think we get a reasonable deal with them as they carry out all the checks on new students, the property checks and organise repairs at a reasonable price.
Today is cleaning the house day.hopefully it shouldn't take too long
I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Hope you are feeling better, GQ. I've had that lingering cough / chest thing and it's been horrid. My muscles are still tender from coughing, but I think I am on the mend now (touches wood)I wanna be in the room where it happens0

I agree, Grey Queen. Letting Agents are indeed the scum of the earth. I had an email from them demanding payment of fees as they hadn't had any since 2015. Spent the whole eveing putting together a spreadsheet confirming dates and amounts paid. Then they decided with no warning to increase their lease renewal fees by 75%!!!! Now the latest is despite having documentation from them saying rent is to be reviewed at 12 months they reviewed and raised it at 9 months!!!
Will be fighting this with a vengeance while at the same time making plans to move out of the private rented sector. So basically all letting agents whose name rhymes with bleeders should be kondo'ed out of existence - grrrrrrr!Flowers are sunshine for the soul0 -
Thanks GQ, have returned to the loft and have emptied most of the contents of a can of fly/wasp killer into the loft space in the hope that may deal with our intruder.
The wind has got up a lot since the roofer came this morning (7am, he got held up elsewhere yesterday), and it seemed quite breezy when I was squirting fly killer about, but I'm sure a bit more ventilation won't harm.Make £2025 in 2025

Kittie I had Alexander Technique lessons a few years ago and it was fantastic - it cured my migraines. If you can afford it I'd recommend getting some lessons, it is much better demonstrated by someone although I haven't looked at the YouTube videos. I could do with a refresher I think.Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.0

Catching up --- yes I can rewire ,fuse , in plug - don't know where I acquired this knowledge.
Not been able to squeeze into any cupboards recently! !
Kondoed a double quilt to dd2 s on Monday, dgson had been saying his mattress had springs poking in him. So I folded said quilt and sewed all round , he can put it on top of mattress as a topper and hopefully make a more comfortable night for him.
In the garden I the good weather earlier this week, and kondoed weeds and Moss from the left hand bed. Added some soil improver too :T
Mothers day dd1 came and brought steaks and pavlova home made, cooked and brought a bottle or 2 of wine ! Dd2 bought me some Yankee candles and a bottle of prosecco!
Dh bought me a bottle of perfume as he remembered I'd said I was running out. :T
Note to self he listened to my hinting :rotfl:Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.0 -
I'm sorry to hear about your experiences, poppy, I've heard similar before. Seems to me that the private sector letting agency sector is the wild west of business and long-overdue for the sheriff to ride into town and sort out the bad guys in the saloon. Mebbe even hanging a few examples as a lesson to the others....... Pleased you can see a way to exit the sector but far too many people are stuck with these sharp practices.
kittie, didn't have time to post about it this morning, but I can only echo what PWD said; Alexander Technique lessons are the best money you will ever invest in yourself. I used to have them and they were excellent and I would still have them if my slender means would stretch to them. I encourage you to go for it if you can, you won't regret it. Cured me of my incessant tension headaches and improved my posture. Some people have even recovered inches of lost height.
Magazines are back with my pal, a pencil has been worn out to a stub and will be binned and the colourful envelopes that we gave the mother's day cards in on Sunday were released immediately (this is a huge deal on previous experiences with card envelopes) and have now been used up for note-taking during my shift.I've been talking to customers today for the first time this week, although Da Management is having to do a daily health audit at the start of each shift to see how many of us can actually talk, bless 'em.
Nothing new ndoors apart from some eggs and a Goo Ootdoors catalogue has come into my life today. Dunno why the latter bother, it's got to be 18 months since I let my discount card expire, you think they'd've taken the hint. I glanced at the contents, realised that a good value thing you don't need isn't a bargain and will be slinging it in the recycling bin next time I go outside.
Not wanting stuff is incredibly easeful, I find.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.
