I'm struggling with towels. I've googled and can't figure out how you are supposed to fold them KM style. I tried folding to the point where you can stand them on their side but they flop over, I can't put them in a basket as their home is on a shelf which is head height in the airing cupboard. I've tried rolling them but not sure that's going to work. It seems hard to tell different sizes apart as well.

    Any suggestions please?
Why are they in such a high shelf? Can you place them somewhere more easily accessible? I have my towels stacked in a drawer under the sink. We never 'select' towels, we always take the top one. I have tried several ways of folding them, until they fitted the size of the drawer in two stacks.

It's an airing cupboard, the shelves are where they are with no scope to move them because of all the pipes, there's not much room in the cupboard anyway as the new tank takes up more space than the original.

We have no cupboard space in the bathroom other than medicine cabinet sized.

I've decided I'm going to live with my existing folded system for towels and not get stressed about it. We don't have loads for our own use. We do have a load of old towels stacked in a linen basket for the cat. She tends to pee in her carry box when we take her to the vets, which she visits pretty regularly, so we have to have a load to protect the car and change the towel in the box before taking her into the vet. These could be better rolled I think.

Not much KM going on here at the moment as have been working, but we did throw out some old keys today for doors we no longer have. Yesterday when searching for a padlock key (hence finding all these others) I threw out a load of old Christmas cracker tat that had been in the kitchen drawer for years. Why do we keep this stuff!

I store necklaces on one of those velour covered multi hook thingys used for belts. I've stuck a hook on the inside of my wardrobe door & they all hang there. Out of the way but accessible.

One freezer sorted.........just how many single chicken breasts does a family need.......15 it would seem:eek: There of three of us in the homestead, full time and I tend to buy chicken breast in fours as its cheaper and put the spare in the freezer.......and then forget..........so lots of chicken meals on the menu for next month! First one tonight is chicken and tarragon in a creamy vermouth sauce........a favourite :) usually serve with rice but DD1 and I are back on our reduce carb quest so will have to think of something else, hopefully there wont be a need to go to the dreaded supermarket. All the 'beyond identification' and things that have 'died' are now in food waste bin - its very rare we put a food waste bin out and it saddens me to see all this gone to waste but it has strengthened my resolve to get freezers organised again and menu plans based on what we have in the house to eat up..........there is no excuse for food waste:mad:.......sorry bit of a soapbox subject for me:o Second freezer will have to be tackled next weekend now

Hi have you tried cauliflower rice easy to do if you have a food processor and I find it a great substitute HTH xx

I think you are absolutely right to not get stressed by it, Slinky! Towels are not worth the emotion! Just put you subconscious to work, and suddenly you may come up with a better place or method, in a few days or a few months, that's just how it works.

We eat loads of cauliflower rice on low carb, probably 4-5 times a week. Substitute it all sorts of places you'd eat pasta, mash and rice.

We recently bought hamster baskets for organising our chest freezer. Had dithered for about a year before finally spending the money, but they really do make it a lot easier to store food and find things. Hopefully there will be a lot fewer unidentifiable frozen lumps going to waste in future.

  • I've been curled up with a cold today, but I've used up some craft supplies - which totally counts ;) Two scarves and a fabric remnant turned into a colour-matching decoration for the living room and a crochet garland finished and ready to go up tomorrow. Really hate how little I get done in a day, baby steps and pacing keep me well however, so I shouldn't complain.

In a way I'm amazed that I'm still finding easy wins on the clearing stuff out front - I'm only 28, have no kids and was in a professional but paid peanuts job, how on earth do I have so much stuff?? It is a sad indictment of how much stuff we are pushed to have; I could live with far less very happily

So, my OH, has come in for a 35 year long service award :T

He got a carppy plastic plaque thing and a catalogue from which to select a gift. In times gone by the carppy plastic thing would have been shoved in a drawer but I notice it is on th e side for recycling /binning :T

He can't find anything from the catalogue either and I suggested he just says "I appreciate the gesture but there's nothing I need". He did think about it, but decided that that gesture would be lost so is getting something for the sake of it :(. I guess we Can sell or re gift....
I wanna be in the room where it happens

Perhaps he feels it may cause offence to his employer / colleagues? He can always ebay it and use the money towards something he wants / wants to do.

Is there anything in the catalogue that you know someone else needs? Or is it full of aspirational cr*p that has no useful function?
