KonMari 2016 - The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up

GQ - if any of the socks prove less than joyful, they are one of the most needed items for homeless shelters (or possibly any homeless people you happen to pass on your travels).
Good thinking, Batwoman. Thus far the only pair discarded for ragging are no good to man nor beast, but I shall wear and cycle my way through the lot, which will identify any nonjoyfuls and also freshen them for donation if appropriate.
I am pootling gently in my home, kondo-ing as I go. It's a happy state of being and, as I donate/ discard and do not replace, the overall level of Stuff decreases and the wide open vistas appear.
Bring me more and more of Less and Less. I (don't) want it all and I (don't) want it now!:rotfl:Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Hi new and returning kondoites!
Grunnie, sorry to hear of the beetroot dish's demise. Always sad when you lose or break something you cherish, but how nice that it was being used instead of gathering dust hidden in the back of the cupboard.
The endless paper category continues. I have taken four bags of recycling down to the bins today and nearly all of it was paper. Still plenty to go, but there is a definite improvement.
Thanks for the heads up on Radio 4. I often listen to it at work but I was busy and didn't tune in. Will have to pop back and listen on iplayer.

I'm struggling with towels. I've googled and can't figure out how you are supposed to fold them KM style. I tried folding to the point where you can stand them on their side but they flop over, I can't put them in a basket as their home is on a shelf which is head height in the airing cupboard. I've tried rolling them but not sure that's going to work. It seems hard to tell different sizes apart as well.

Mine are folded length-wise, then rolled, and stored on their side in a drawer. I don't have anywhere they could live standing up:AStarting again on my own this time!! - Defective flylady! :A0 -
Slinky, I roll my towels. Fold in thirds lengthways then roll from the short side. I keep mine in a blanket box, they are tucked in, in a row so stay put. Hope that all makes sense.
Now I know Ms Kondo doesn't agree with keeping spare change but I've been saving it for quite sometime. I decided to count it up today. I'm amazed to say I have bagged up £292 it will now be banked and will be put towards our living room renovations. The room will bring me joy when it's finally finished, hopefully by the end of February.

Any suggestions please?Hi slinky, I don't know if it's KM style by what I do with my towels works well for me. They live in a small (20 inch wide) airing cupboard.
Firstly, I have only two sizes of towel; hand and bath towel. Oh, but two of the 'bath towels' are actually beach towels and a little oversized, but still smaller than bath sheets.
Bath towels are folded in half across the middle and then rolled and stacked on a shelf like logs, short end outermost. Easy to see and reach without much chance of disarranging them all.
Hand towels are folded lengthwise and rolled into sausages which stand on end in a small cardboard box to stop them falling over. HTH.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Sorry to hear about the beetroot dish, it's sad when things that bring us joy break - the things that don't really matter have much more bounceability!
My bath towels are folded in thirds and rolled like pollys, mine live on a shelf that has the wall on one side and a wooden support Poole on the other so they stay in place, the hand towels a rolled and tucked in between the wall and a box containing toiletries on another shelf.
Just watched two DVDs joe calzagie story Dh got for Christmas was a good watch as I think he was a good boxer and a lent one Called unbroken about a young runner who was a Japanese pow in the war -it was based on a true story and very moving. Glad we watched both.
I'm cross stitching a panel for a cushion as a gift for my sister so that is bring me joy and stash will be leaving my cupboard.
Have a joyful weekend all.

on a sadder note dad slipped on doorstep off his house on the awful ice this morning.. had to have head glued but had a headache so was taken to the BIG hospital but when he arrived they were taken back... they were expecting an 'old' man in his seventies so were worried.. so blessed at having old but youthful parents. even both me and kiddo slipped on way to car ... be careful people.Don’t put it down - put it away!
