PollyWollyDoodle wrote: »Great suggestions about wardrobe selection above, I particularly like GQ's suggestion of 'roles' and Siebrie's idea of matching everything up as outfits. I can see I need to set aside an afternoon for this.
I do this when packing for work. I work out my laundry days, then see what I'm doing in between - presentations, meetings, meals out, evenings in the hotel, gym, travel etc and then work out outfits for each and how many of each option I need. For example, I'm away for 12 days this time. I need 3 x suits plus the bits that go with them; 2 x gym & swimming stuff; 2 x nightclothes; 2 x travel clothes; 2 x not work clothes. Just hope that I can fit it all into my suitcase :cool:0 -
Morning all.
Pootling contintues until the gang convene for a pub lunch to celebrate a birthday. I have been putting laundry away and decided to have a cull of the undercrackers and have found 7 pairs which are disgraceful and which will go.
I'm also reconsidering a pretty little box which I bought late last year to hold my necklaces and it isn't doing it for me, and is starting to irritate. Came from a chazzer for £1.50 and can leave without breaking the bank. When your home is small, your possessions are very much in your face and I want what few things I keep to be attractive as well as useful.
Onwards, lovely peeps, onwards.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I find jewellery a PITA to store too GQ.
Invariably ends up tangled in the box it used to be in. I used a ceramic egg holder tray thingummy for earrings at one point (based on a style tip from a website) but it didn't really work for me as it took up too much space and the indents weren't big enough. I now have a small perspex tray with 6x2 little square compartments which is much better. I hang my necklaces from the side of the mirror.
Right, off to the shops for some pva glue for a project and then back for more paperwork. I need a break from house stuff for a half hour."Does it spark joy?" - Marie Kondo

Just stuck a couple of random things on freegle which I think the chazzers might bin if offered as they're very random. Hopefully they will meet someone's requirements and be requested. They represent some of the last 5 % of the haul from the parental home which I brought back with me on the 3rd Jan.
Anyone else find it hard to round up all the 'little bits' after a clear out, particularly if those bits are very random, need some attention or are 'ponents to something which doesn't exist any more?
I need a little bit of a push to get these last bits re-homed responsibly. Fingers crossed the freeglers will come through for me.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

You're obviously going to have to go back and visit your parents again soon GQ0

My jewellery has been in so many boxes etc since being KMed but I have settled on my old pill boxes -the plastic ones with the days of the week for earrings I needed 3 of these. I also went to the pound shop and bought plastic hooks and glued these to the inside of my wardrobe doors and hung beads necklaces and bangles on these. All sorted as this works best for me and I am wearing more of them. Put about 100 bits to the chazzer that I would never wear again even some I don't remember wearing in the first place.:rotfl:0

Is her new book worth buying?:)
I've been doing some more de-cluttering this weekend and have decided to subtract some more items of clothing from my already small wardrobe.:T0 -

My thoughts exactly, but they're 30 miles away and I only tend to visit about every 6 weeks, or on a Bank Holiday, whichever happens first. They've got about another month of peace before I'm incoming.......:rotfl:
Heading off to t'pub to meet pals for a luncheon. I may be gone for some time.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I keep my jewellery in an ice cube tray in my dressing table drawer. Most things fit in a cube space and it makes me really think about whether I want the bigger things messing up my system!0

One freezer sorted.........just how many single chicken breasts does a family need.......15 it would seem:eek: There of three of us in the homestead, full time and I tend to buy chicken breast in fours as its cheaper and put the spare in the freezer.......and then forget..........so lots of chicken meals on the menu for next month! First one tonight is chicken and tarragon in a creamy vermouth sauce........a favourite
usually serve with rice but DD1 and I are back on our reduce carb quest so will have to think of something else, hopefully there wont be a need to go to the dreaded supermarket. All the 'beyond identification' and things that have 'died' are now in food waste bin - its very rare we put a food waste bin out and it saddens me to see all this gone to waste but it has strengthened my resolve to get freezers organised again and menu plans based on what we have in the house to eat up..........there is no excuse for food waste:mad:.......sorry bit of a soapbox subject for me:o Second freezer will have to be tackled next weekend now
